Question about Mobile Ordering

Mobile ordering sounds quite helpful...

But can you order a free cup of ice water along a „real“ order? (Those free cups of water were a real live saver on our last trip!) if you have to wait in line to order those cups of water it doesn’t save much time for us I guess...(apart from dole whips of course...)

You just ask for the ice water at the pick-up window when you get your food. I have noticed that several places pre-pour a bunch of ice waters probably to keep things moving since many guests do want water with their food.

Do they let you know what your pick up time will be before you place the order?
As others have said, you select your pick-up window when you place your order. Once the time window opens, you can click the "I'm here" and they'll put your order together. You'll get a notification when your order is ready and then you can pick it up. So, for example, let's say I place an order at Bengal Barbecue and the time window is "Now - 5:10 pm". It means, as soon as I'm standing near Bengal Barbecue, I can click "I'm Here" and then they'll pull my order together. If I picked the 6:20 pm - 6:50 pm window, I can click "I'm Here" any time between 6:20 pm and 6:50 pm.

They won't charge your order until you pick it up, so if there are any issues with the order (like they've run out of something you've ordered - which has happened to me at Jolly Holiday late in the day), you won't be charged for items that you don't receive. As others have mentioned, sometimes the order comes out really quickly after you tap on "I'm Here" and other times there is a bit of wait.

What if you have an Annual Pass? Is the discount automatic when you place the order?

Yes! Thank you!
Now that you said it, it sounds pretty obvious actually... and I also just remembered actually seeing those full trays of ice waters standing next to the pick up windows ....:rolleyes2

Cool! I didn't know you could mobile order and charge it to your room!!!
Ugh, now that you mention it, I'm not sure you can! I spoke without giving that more thought. They reminded me at the hotel that I could use our key for all purchases but in thinking about it, I don't see how you could use it for mobile ordering since they use the CC that's saved on the app and not your room key. While you may use the same cc for your hotel reservation, I don't know that you could have the mobile order show up on the hotel statement. Sorry about saying that without thinking it through.

All mobile ordering is, is having the advantage of not waiting in line by paying Disney upfront for it. When you arrive during your arrival window, they make the food as if you just stood 30 minutes in line and ordered it. As long as you arrive during your window, you'll get the food asap. It won't be made before you get there, only when you let them know you're there to pick up a mobile order.

You save time waiting in line. You can take all the time you want to check out your order and make sure you get what you want. And you can save the time it takes them to make it.

We usually order when we are waiting in line at a ride, or walking from one place in the park to another, and then, once we are moving, I always click to thell them, "I'M HERE." Even when we are clear across the park. You can walk from one end of the park to another in 6 or 7 minutes, so, telling them that you have arrived gets them time to prepare the order and have it ready for you to walk in and pick it up as soon as you actually arrive.

The last year we had annual passes, we had several instances with issues using our AP discount. I would say more times than not our AP discount would not appear. They told me I would have to go to guest services each time it happened to get a reimbursement each time.
We tried unlinking and re-adding our passes, but nothing seemed to help. And I got real annoyed with waiting in a 15 minute line each time I wanted a $10 refund.

This happened to me once and it was annoying. I didn’t request a refund. I haven’t used it since then so hopefully it was a fluke.

The only time our AP discount failed to appear was the very last day of our APs. It is so convenient though we still used it. Big fans.

I guess I have been lucky. Never had an issue with the discount appearing. It was nice last week. My daughter left to go see End Game before dinner, so I knew she'd come back to the hotel hungry. As I left Carthay, being the nice mommy I am, I mobile ordered her her favorite Turkey Pesto sandwich, clicked I am here, and just as I walked up to the door at Pacific Wharf, the notification came it was ready! Put it in the fridge in the room, and she go it when she came back!
