Question about mailing something to the resort ahead of time

So I'm thinking of sending a box of stuff... misty fans, glow necklaces...etc thru the mail or UPS before we leave. How far in advance can it arrive at the resort? How far ahead of time to you send it? What is the best way-UPS/ USPS?

I've heard the general rule is no more then 1 week ahead of your arrival. Make sure you put your families arrival date on the package too! I would send it the absolute CHEAPEST way LOL!

Use UPS or Fed Ex. I've read (here) that USPS goes to a central sorting facility first and takes longer to deliver. I've used UPS twice and know that Florida is a 3 day delivery time from where we are. We arrived on a Saturday, so I wanted it there on Friday. I sent our packages on Tuesday and both times they were waiting when we arrived.

I have done this many times. As far as how long before your trip to send it depends on where you live. I live in NJ and I have always used UPS Store (they box and ship). I have sent it ground and it needed about 3-4 days but I always send ahead about 7-8 days and they hold in baggage services. The only problem I had was one year we went the friday after thanksgiving and with a holiday in there it added 1-2 days to shipping so our box arrived a day before we did. I like a little more cushion time than that. We are going again in september and I already have a box started to collect things to send down. I always send our toiletries and most of DD clothing, that way it's gone, I don't have to worry about packing for her, I keep a list and if I missed anything I can just add it to my suitcase. (I won't even talk about the year I forgot to pack underwear for me and DD, thank goodness the gift shops carry it !!!!) This year I will be sending down her halloween costume and I think I am also going to ship down a case of water from costco, much cheaper than buying in the parks. Have a great trip !!

~One week should be fine. You can go online to UPS or FedEx and calculate the time it will take to ship from point A to point B. Be sure to consider when your arrival is versus when you ship the box. If you're arriving on Sunday, the box needs to arrive at the hotel on Friday (no weekend delivery unless you pay more for Saturday delivery).

~Be sure to put your name, reservation #, date of arrival on the label. (The UPS store can key in specific directions to print on the label.)

~I prefer UPS over FedEx (HORRIBLE experiences on various shipments through them over here in Western PA!). But both will provide you with tracking info. USPS tracking info is never up to date.

~Print out the delivery confirmation and take it with you. This should include info about who signed for the package, date, time, etc. Last fall, I shipped a box to the Dolphin. When I arrived there was a message to call their receiving office. I was told that the package was delivered the day before and signed for by someone (they gave me the name - no one I knew!). I had just checked in - so it wasn't "held for me"? Fortunately I had the info about who had signed for it, etc. It took a while, but they did locate the package. If I hadn't had that info, it might not have been located that day!
