I was just looking over the changes to the Loews First program (YIKES!!) and had a question about status. I am already Platinum but have not stayed 10 seperate stays. Do I get to keep my Platinum status since I am already Platinum? I sure hope so. Those new rules will make it alot harder for people to go Platinum.

Also, do you ever lose status? If I haven't stayed at a Loews hotel for 1-2 years...does it ever bump down to blue or gold for lack of activity? TIA!

If you are platinum now, they should have sent you an email about the changes. They are giving you until January 2009 to stay at one of the hotels and keep your status, if you do so they will extend you platinum status an additional 12 months. After that you have to stay 10 additional stays during a rolling 12 month period. If not after the one year anniversary of your last stay you will be downgraded to gold, if you don't stay the required time for gold, the following year you will be downgraded to blue, and then to "member." :surfweb:

Thanks for the reply!! That is crap.:sad2: There is no way my family can stay 10 seperate stays yearly to keep our Platinum status. I remember whenever I signed up for Loews First I asked if my status would ever expire and she said no. Booo. Oh well. At least I didn't have to pay a fee to become a member!

Crap is defintely what it is. :rotfl:

We're all upset over it, there isn't anyway that most working families who have achieved Platinum status can maintain it, let alone people overseas. Seems like it is geared towards businessmen and women. Alot of people have written letters and we can only hope they change their minds, but I doubt it. :sad2:

I agree. Even frequent flyer programs reward # of flights AND miles flown. Not our loews though, anymore anyway. Please join the letter writing campaign to let them know of your displeasure. They should take into consideration # of nights stayed. Seems ridiculous that someone could stay for 3 weeks but it only count as one stay. Yet a person traveling on business could only stay 10 nights and be platinum. I feel totally unvalued. If you do too, please join us in expressing your displeasure.

I will so be on that letter writing campaign!! I imagine that it will do no good as Loews is probably benefiting big time on saving money since so many fewer people will be Platinum, but I would love for them to know that so many people are displeased!!! Where are you guys sending these letters to?
