Question about late check in

We have a 1 bedroom Boardwalk view booked for late October. We are thinking about spending our first night at the Hardrock hotel, so we wouldn't be checking into the BWV until around 5 or 6 pm on a Saturday. I know you sometimes get the "lesser" (if there is such a word) rooms the later you check in, but do you think this is true when you have a Boardwalk view booked? This is our first time that we have been able to get a Boardwalk view, and I don't want to mess this up!
Thanks in advance, Murphy

You have much better odds of getting a "good" room with a BWView reservation. Have you specified no HA room or any options you prefer?

That being said, we always arrive late since we fly from Seattle. We settled for not getting our requests met the first few years at BWV and OKW and decided it was worth it to us to stay offsite the first night in order to check in early the next day. Another option we've tried is to request a studio the first night and move into a 1 bdrm the next day.

Good Luck!

For what its worth, we moved from a Grand Villa at SSR to a 1 BR at about 9:00 am on a Friday morning. At that time in the morning, there were no standard 1 BR's available. We could either wait till 4:00 pm, or check into a smoking or HA 1 br. That was all that was available.

I've stayed at BWV arriving in the afternoon. I've always found the room was preassigned but there's always the possibility of an earlier "switch". You have a boardwalk view, I believe they are all non-smoking. There are a few handicapped.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I don't think a h/a room would bother us, not travelling with any young kids this trip. Non- smoking is a must, other than that we just want a nice Boardwalk view. Maybe we will just keep things as they are.

I've checked in early & late, and didn't see a darn difference. I would put in as many room requests as possible. I did this on the the last trip to BWV with boardwalk view in December. I ended up with almost what I wanted. I was told that they do assign rooms up to 1 day before arrival. Not sure if it's just during a busier time of year. Our room was on the 5th floor over the River Grille. Awesome view!

We haven't done this at BWV"S, but we have come in very late at BCV, around 10:30 or 11:00 PM, I think it was , and got exactly what we ask for. Maybe it was just luck, but we were happy. We had the same concerns.

This is what we usually do (flying in from Phoenix). This trip (IN TWO DAYS :cheer2: ) we are getting a studio at BCV, then checking into our 1BR at SSR the next morning.

Flying from Denver we too often arrive late at night. Last October we arrived about 11:30PM to POR and got the room and building we wanted. This March, we did a redeye and arrived at SSR at 6:30 AM and a studio was ready for us. We had not made many requests, being our first time there, just medically nonsmoking and above first floor, but still we got what we wanted. Good Luck.

One of my favorite rooms ever I got at 1 AM.. (I would love to get that villa again some time it was GREAT!)

My ONLY request is non smoking.

Sometimes I think you limit yourself by "requests" By the time they meet the requests a really great room may have passed you by. For example, in my case if I was thinking I would probably request top floor... the villa I wound up loving was first floor.
