Question about joining DVC and their current promotions...

I was looking at the DVC website and under the disclosures is says Current prices start at $16,640 and $10,400. Are they running a special promotion or can we buy in with as few as 100 points now? We've been considering buying in for a while now, but we really didn't want more than 100 points right now since it is just my gf and me. Their website really doesnt go in to much detail, so not much help there. Am I just reading it wrong?

They are offering a 100 point buy in at AKV right now. As far as I know it also comes with 100 developer points.

Developer points are usually matching amounts to whatever you purchased, and can only be used at SSR within 1 yr of your contract date. We purchased 300 pts at AKV and got 300 pts at SSR to be used by May 14, 2009. They cannot be transferred or used at any other resort, and they can only be used within the 7 month window.

We actually have a trip planned for the first week of august down to WDW. If we were to purchase immediately the 100 points at AKV would we be able to use them on this trip, or the Developer points, or will it take a while to close on a sale?

The 100 point offer is available to non-members too, correct?

Only some people have received the developer points. I just purchased last week and did not get them. Not for sure on what you need to do to get them.

From what I understand, the 100 AKV points (unless specified as Jambo) will not be usable until May of 2009 when the new AKV building is opened, reason being that there simply isn't enough room in the existing DVC resorts for the other members AND the AKV Kidani members. You'd be buying into a building that doesn't yet exist. Allowing anyone to book a room at other DVCs with those kidani points before the units are open would be like trying to fit a dozen eggs with no carton (being built) into an already full carton.

Assuming you do get 100 developer points (I've heard both ways - some folk getting them, others not) with the 100 pt purchase, the SSR developer points are good for 1 year but cannot be banked. Your guide can make a reservation for you with these points from the moment you put down your deposit. They are good only at SSR & the collection. Of course, availability can be an issue.

I am so confused. I just looked at the website and only see the $16,640. I had mentioned I had heard about this deal on another site and I was told it was only available in CA. If that's true why would it be posted on the website.

We just bought (Saturday) 100 points at Jambo house with a February use year. Developer points are not available for the 100 point buy in for new members. Developer points are given to existing members adding on a minimum of 100 points. Good luck.

Yes, the 100 does..I have been talking to a guide thinking about purchasing as well and he did say the $8 off is valid for 100 point purchases as well.

Yeay, I made the plunge and bought in 100 pts at AKV! The rep did not mention th $8 per point credit when I agreed to the deal. I called him back and he said the he just forgot to mention it, but should see the $800 credit we he mails me the contracts . I guess I just need to double check those contracts when I get them in the mail to make sure the discount has been applied.

BTW, does DVC send you any kind of welcome goodie bag from DVC from joining? Just curious.

They will send you your documents in a very nice heavy Cardboard "file" box. And they will send you a DVC member tote bag!!

He said I will receive the legal documents in 4-5 business days.
