Great thing about being DVC members is the amount of times we can visit WDW. With that comes the opportunity to try different things. I would like to know if there is some sort of package to ensure we get a seat for illuminations at the Rose and Crown? I know I had seen a post on it, but in doing a search I spent the better part of a half hour and still came up with very little information. So guru's of the World, is this possible, and how do I accomplish this task. Thanks....see you at the world. :earsboy:

No package. It would just be based on luck and timing.
It could happen. It may not.

Hi Coach Rick from the DVC boards  .

When we do the CP every year we always eat at Rose and Crown. Illuminations is at 9:30 when we go. So we make dinner reservations for 8:15ish. We have usually gotten a seat on the patio. On one occasion it was freezing outside, so we chose seats inside (this was before they had those great working heaters). When Illuminations started we went out onto the patio (not obstructing anyone's view) and watched them.
Either way it is great!

When you arrive for dinner after 8, the waiters assume you will be staying for the show and they do not rush you out.

PS I am assuming that you wanted to eat dinner at R&C, right?

We pulled it off Monday of last week. We had a PS for 7:20, got there about 7:10 and requested an outside table. They were very behind on seating people, people were complaining, but I didn't complain because I wanted that outside table. There was only my mom and I and I knew some of the tables were only 2 seats (I had lunch there in March and thought how great it would be for Illuminations). Most of the people waiting for the PS's looked to be more than 2. We finally got seated around 8:00 with a table down front, right in the middle! The cm asked if we wanted to stay for the fireworks, we said yes, so she paced the meal slowly. We were just finished eating when the fireworks started. Great view!

I have just got a PS for next Thursday night at 18.20...i am going to either phone up the night before for a later time (cancellation) or turn up very late for original PS!! Wonder what the chances of getting a cancellation are? Whether just to turn up at about 19.30 and hope for a table. There are only 3 of us.

What is the best time for a PS, hoping to see 9 PM Illuminations from the patio during/after dinner?

I have heard others say that there is an outside viewing area if you want to go out during the fireworks. So even if you don't get a patio table you could view Illuminations. They mentioned something about upper and lower patios. Hopefully someone who has been there for Illuminations will chime in.

We have a 7:30 pm ressie and are praying for some pixie dust. :wizard:

I wouldn't get there that late. I would get there about 7:00. At 7:30, you would be an hour late and they may turn you away.

Wendy - There are 2 levels outside. One is the same level as the inside restaurant and then you go down about 5 steps and there is another level, closer to the water. We had a 2 seat table, next to us there was a larger table, I think about 6 people were seated there. Behind us there was a 4 seat. There's more tables out there than I realized.

I really don't know what the official policy is on arriving late for a meal reservation. I was thinking someone once told me they held it for 15 minutes. :confused3
But that has been so long ago that someone mentioned it, policy may be different now anyway. And I don't recall who told me that anyway.
Just thought I would mentin this. Anyone making a PS who may not be on time may want to ask Disney Dining when they call.

There is an upper patio deck. If you are seated at a table there you may have a chance to see something more than the water level displays.
There is very little standing room on the upper deck, and then a low roof blocks any viewing worthwhile.
It really is a matter of luck. I think generally what happens is those who have 7 - 7:30 PS on the patio linger through the Illuminations time.

Really -- I think it would be much easier if seats were available at the open patio area to grab food and eat there.
