Question about identification for a 15 year old....

This will be our first time flying to Disney. This is our son's first time flying. He will be 15 at the time and I'm wondering whether we have to get him some kind of state ID.

Do different airlines have different rules or are they pretty standard? I figured that this was the best place to ask.....

Children under 18 years of age do not need ID to go through security. The TSA agent may ask his age, as sometimes they ask questions to all kids. But no ID is required for your 15 year old.

Disneyfaninaz is 100% correct...but...if your son is like mine, at 15, he was taller than me, almost as tall as his father and built like a linebacker. It may give you piece of mind to bring along a school id and birth certificate. You should not need it. I was glad I brought those for our family trip because it was worth not starting our trip off with an argument with TSA about not following their own rules.

He is 14 and he is taller than me and his father. I'm 5'11 and so is his father. His school doesn't issue student ID's, but I'm going to bring along his birth certificate. I just don't want any issues with the TSA.

In May of this year I took my 14 yr old and 12 yr old nephews to Washington DC. I was concerned about them having no ID and their last name being different than mine as well as the 14 yr old is taller than me.

TSA never even blinked or asked any questions on either end.

You won't have any id problems. You can always check tsa.gov for the official answers to these types of questions.

The id rules aren't made by the airlines, they are made by the US government.
