Question about golf carts...

Post # 19 was what I was thinking and heard. Disney carts are always booked anyway and I would be ticked if they wouldn't let me have a cart delivered if they were out.

Not that it is a big deal, but there are no electric outlets for charging carts at the outpost parking area. At the dock, yes, in the parking lot adjacent to Trail's End, and in the small parking area by the Settlement bus stop, yes, but there are no outlets at the outpost. Also, the parking lot by the dock was expanded recently, and there are no electric outlets in the expanded area. We rent the carts all the time, and have never had one close to dying. I think if you charge it overnight, you can drive it for a long time before you need to charge. If it is charged when you park it, you certainly would not have a problem getting back to your site or cabin-even if you are at the parks all day.

It will take some skill to get everyone plus your double stroller and shoulder bags into the cart, but you still might be able to do it.

I think you will love the Fort Wilderness cabins. The golf carts are lots of fun, too. My kids and I loved driving around with a cart with open sides and a quiet electric engine. And the nightly campfire program with singer/guitar player and outdoor movie is wonderful. You can buy marshmallows and sticks to roast them on at a small store behind the campfire area, then roast the marshmallows on the campfire. My kids really love that. The memories are wonderful. I have stayed at many Disney resorts, and I can say that my stay at the Fort Wilderness cabins in Jan 06 were some of the best days of my life.

Short of mine being gas and their's being electric
Just to let you know, FW only allows electric carts. And on the rental question, do a search for golf carts and you should find a thread about how to rent from an outside vendor.
After our '05 visit we went out and bought our own cart which we will bring with us this year.

Just to let you know, FW only allows electric carts.
This may be official policy, but it isn't enforced.:confused3 If you pull in with a golf cart in the back of your truck or on a trailer behind your Moho, they aren't going to inspect it...at least they didn't check ours to verify that it is electric. I have seen several gas golf carts on our two trips to Fort Wilderness.

Again, this may be the official policy. I don't doubt it in the least and can understand why it would be, but I know I have seen and heard gas carts at the Fort.

My brother bought a large golf cart from Disney. It was one used at one of their resorts to haul guests and luggage to the rooms. It now has 4 seats, as my brother converted the "luggage" area into a rear facing seat. We are planning on bringing it with the campground, as we have a grand gathering with a number of family members coming and meeting. Has anyone every had Disney turn them away because of a larger golf cart? It would be terrible, as my brother not only has invested a lot of $, but also a lot of time into getting it ready for the trip. Any thoughts? I can't imagine Disney saying we could not bring a cart, that they used at their own resorts! Hopefully we will not have any problems.......

I don't think you'll have a problem. I've seen all types and sizes of golfcarts at FW.

I agree with the previous post about them not inspecting the carts. They have never looked twice at our cart. We got tired of spending all that money on renting and I found a hideous pink golf cart on ebay and painted it. It is not the $5K jobbers with the lift kits and chrome diamond plate, but it does the job and my three year old will not let us take the rv without it!

Thank-you for the responses. I am glad to hear that we should not have any problems....being Disney, I kind of thought we would not. I guess what is the difference if we have one big golf cart, or had brought 2 smaller ones with..And the cart is really quite the show piece...He made it quite the "Mickey" cart, done all in black and red.
