Question about getting off an airplane 40+ years ago.

I've only seen it happen on delayed flights.

Happened on a Southwest flight a couple of weeks ago, and a poor C group guy ended up having to stow his bag in the very back of the plane and sit in a middle at the front. He was on one of the flights they were holding due to our delayed flight. Anyways, by some miracle of humanity, the entire plane worked to get him back to his bag, then back up and off the flight. People were in the aisle but scooted out of the way for him.

Yes, I remember them calling names of people who needed to connect to flights and those people got off before others (I'm old and have actually been one of those people). Yes, I've heard them within the last 11 years make the announcement to please stay seated and let those with connecting flights get off first and have heard them name the flights and gates. I haven't flown in 10 years so I don't know now. Yes, people stayed seated when they called the names. I'd say about 75% of people stayed seated when they requested it (hard to tell of the other 25% were actually people with connecting flights or just people getting off). Since I haven't flown in 10 years can't say how people would react now but given how flying is now, I don't think people would start a riot but I also do think there would be a number of people who would think screw them, they should have booked a direct flight or a flight with longer connections and get up anyway.

Have had the request to remain seated until connecting flight passengers deplaned.
