Are there any garden view rooms with a really great view of the monorail? My sons are train fanatics! Our room at the Poly last year had a wonderful monorail view and they loved watching it go by. I was just wondering if there was a building I should request for something similar at the Grand? I had been thinking of requesting something near the marina but I just loved their reaction to seeing the monorail woosh by so I figured I should ask if that is an option in any of the garden view rooms.

Sago Cay is the building which is adjacent to the monorail tracks. A garden view here, would give you the view of the monorail going back and forth.

is this a convenient building to the pool (of course swimming isn't a guarantee in December, is it? ;) ), transportation, Gasparilla's etc.?

We were in Sugar Loaf with a view of the monorail and we were also not too far from the pool.

What room were you in to see the monorail in SL? I presume the marina side? We're staying in SL in Nov/Dec. I've made an initial request, but if we don't get that my trio would LOVE a view of the monorail!

Thanks for any info.

Your furthest walk is to the pool and for that, it's only about 3 or 4 minutes. Gasparilla's is right there, as is the entrance to the main building for the monorail. If you need to take the bus, there is a very convenient pathway right inbetween Sago Cay and the main building. Sugar Loaf only contains concierge rooms.

Triplefigs, you can see the monorail from the marina side of Sugar Loaf. It comes out from behind Sago Cay and sort of loops towards the MK. The absolute best view is from Sago Cay as you are pretty close to it.

Thanks, Tammi. I'm hoping we get the other room, but my kids would love the monorail veiw too. Hope you are feeling better. I am really sorry about your Dad.

Sago Cay is close to the main building where you will find transportation and dining, but it is the furthest building from both pools.

I think the tower room would be great and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. For a really cool view, you can bring the kids along that Sago Cay pathway and the monorail is right there. You can also see it whizzing by when you're at the theme pool.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness on my dad. He's finally on his way home and we're hoping to be able to lay him to rest either Wednesday or Thursday. His wife has called a few times to harrass me. It's sad, but I don't even know if she's more upset about him or the fact that she was not listed under his insurance policy. It will be good to have peace.

Thank you! That sounds like it may be good for us! We walked every day from the far end of VWL to the WL feature pool and didn't mind that so it sounds like this would be not even as far as that. Of course if they want to pixie dust me with a nice lagoon view room upgrade at check in, I won't complain about that at all either. Even if we were in a room with a view of nothing I'd still be happy...I'd be at WDW and staying at the GF. :cloud9:

You and your family are in my prayers. I hope this is all settled for you soon.

I think you might mean 6417? I just looked up my GF information and our Sugar Loaf rooms started in a 6, while Conch Key rooms start with a 7.

No I meant 7417, I have a picture of the room number and looked at it before I responded to the message. Maybe I am wrong on which building it was, sorry, it may have been Conch Key I can't remember that for sure.

Edited to add: Sorry I looked at my info and it was Conch Key not Sugar Loaf.
