Question about flight cancellation & resort reservation

Hi all! So I scheduled a first-ever family vacation to WDW and now there's rumblings of a potential major snow storm in the Northeast on the day we'd be flying to MCO. Of course! Hoping someone can answer two quick questions.
  1. If flights out of Philly get cancelled Saturday and we can't arrive until the following day, is it best to call the reservations line or call Pop Century directly to let them know of the changes? I know we'd still be charged for the room that night and that's fine, we have trip insurance, but I just want to make sure I wouldn't lose our room for the rest of our stay.
  2. Would I need to contact someone to update Magical Express to make changes or just deal with that whenever we finally arrive and get to the DME check-in?
Thanks in advance!

Have you considered the possibility of trying to get out ahead of the storm? If the forecast firms up and looks like a major storm will hit , the airlines frequently will allow flight changes to earlier flights. After the storm, if a bad one, it will take days to get everyone rebooked and to where they need to be. There is no guarantee you will get out the next day.
There are experts on the Transportation sub forum that can offer much advice on this scenario.

Yes, call the hotel directly and let them know if your plans change. ME should have your flight info, but I'm sure the hotel can assist with that as well.

You will have to wait until the airline sends you notification that they are allowing flight changes free of charge (waivers) or else it can be upwards of $200 per ticket for the change.

Thank you both! Hopefully the weather ends up being a non-event or at least we start getting a more solid forecast in a day or two instead of the guessing game we have going on now. I definitely wouldn't be against getting out before the storm if that became an option with the airlines. I'll check out the transportation board too! Thanks again!!

You can't call the hotel directly. You can only call the reservation call center.
Even if you pick up the phone at the resort and push Front Desk you are getting the call center.
That doesn't change that you should call just know you can't call someone standing at the front desk at Pop.
