Hi All,

I went to Disney Dec 2001. While we were at Epcot I could have sworn Africa was in the World showcase. I just got my new Birnbaum book and no such place is listed. Am I crazy? It wasn't as large as Mexico or Noraway. It had a shopping area and there were 2 CM's it was a lady and her husband in a hut area with drums telling stories. I have pic's of my kids dancing with her and playing the drums. And they had a gentleman doing carvings. My daughter absoutely had a blast with them. Have some places changed in Epcot?

Dear Babyblue68,
Africa has never been a represented country pavillion at EPCOT . You probably encountered them at either the Millenium Village pavillion or possibly by the Outpost .

Was it the Morocco exhibit maybe? I know that place has a large shopping area and, technically, it is in Africa....

What you are talking about is the Outpost - this area was indeed once supposed to the the site of a pavilion dedicated to equatorial Africa, but only the a very tiny part that is now the Outpost became reality. Now that Africa has its own land at the Animal Kingdom, chances are next to zero that it will ever become an Epcot pavilion unless paid for by a sponsor.

Then there is Morocco, of course, but it is a full fledged pavilion. Its architecture and culture have nothing in common with equatorial Africa.

Thanks guys....I knew if anyone could tell me it's this board!

I think I remember it being next to Germany right before you get to the bridge to cross over to China. I could be wrong about exactly where the location was at Epcot. Is that the Outpost or Millenium Village pavillion? We were only there at night time. That was the park we closed out every night of our trip with. I just love Epcot!!! I can't wait to visit it in the daytime too this time around.
