We will be traveling on the magic for the first time in Early November. I have a question regarding dress code and children. I understand that Shorts and jeans should not be worn in the dining areas but I am a bit lost on what that means for my 5 year old and 1 year old sons. Obviously they wear just about everything they eat to some extent. They each have a pair of dress khakis but after one meal they will be dirty and unless I do laundry daily ( which I don't plan to do ) that will be it. On the other hand they have several nice shorts out fits with collars etc. How can I handle this and not have to pack a ton of stuff or wash every day. What have some you moms done?

Another question what are the odds of getting a seating change they have us at the late dinner seating and on a wiait list for early seating. The baby will be ready for bed at dinner time with the late seating. Suggestions?

Kids around that age are "best judgement." Particularly your one year old. Leave them in shorts if you want.

You might want to try black pants for the five year old - hide the mess a little better. My five year old son is pretty tidy, and did fine with one pair of black pants on a four day cruise. He was only in the dining room with us two nights, they ate in the clubs two nights.

I'd let the boys wear their nice shorts sets for most meals. For formal and semiformal nights, I'd have 5 yo wear his Khaki pants and maybe a button shirt.

The one year old qualifies as a baby in my opinion and you dress babies according to the weather, room temperature, and your convenience.

I can't remember where but on your Embarcation sheet they will tell you where to go for dining changes. I would definitely go and ask for a change. If that doesn't work out, take your stroller and let him crash. We had late seating and saw a couple of families with very young children ( under 2) that were sound asleep in the stroller.

Will our 3yr old DS be cold in shorts and short sleeves?

We have the early seating and sailing Nov 27th.

As always, Thank You!::yes::

He may be cold. I was cold in slacks and short sleeves.

Actually, I thought a lot of the common areas on the ship were surprisingly cold. Not necessarily a bad thing, but difficult when you don't have the clothes for it. DH never got to wear the long sleeved t-shirt he brought with him... I carried it everywhere to wear as an extra layer when necessary!

My little kids seldom complain of cold....I think their temperature is just regulated differently. But, yes, the indoor areas of the ship can run "cool"
