Question about Dream class 4A rooms

They're the ones that say "sleeps from 3 to 5". While I know not all have Murphy Beds and not all have the pull down bunk, I wondered about the 'sleeps 4' configuration.

Is it possible to have a Murphy bed and no bunk or would they all have the bunk and no Murphy bed?

All cat 4a-d cabins do sleep either 5 pax or 4 pax unless designated as Handicapped.

The following unfortunately discounts HA cabins.

Cat 4a - d cabins aboard the Dream and Fantasy may sleep 5 pax as noted using "all" the beds.

They may also only sleep 4 pax when a ceiling bunk or wall murphy is missing.

Those that sleep five;
Queen for 2 pax, couch for 3rd pax, ceiling bunk for 4th pax, wall murphy for the 5th pax

Those that sleep 4;
Queen for 2 pax, couch for 3rd pax, then ......
either a ceiling bunk for the 4th pax, or a murphy for the 4th pax. It can vary.

That's the dilemma we have all faced for years. Which cabin has which beds in a 4 pax cat 4 cabin?

Have you seen this incredible thread? That I can't image how long to develop.

Please posters / sailors / lurkers update it, so the gaps noted can be filled.

ETA; Cat 4e cabins on the Dream and Fantasy are not the same size as those mentioned above regardless of how many pitiful websites tell you so. Cat 4e cabins , internally, are the same size as a normal, not family balcony cabin, ie; cat 5. Trust me. lol

I have checked that thread. It says my room sleeps 4, but it doesn't say if it has a murphy bed or a bunk. When we booked they room, they assured us repeated times that it had a murphy bed. Since then, I've used PrincessSchmoo's idea to attempt to book a 5 person sailing in that room and it didn't come up for me unless I only had 4 in it. So now, I know it is only a 4, but my one son had wanted the bunk and my other wanted the murphy bed. So which one is going to be disappointed? That thread is great, but doesn't detail which 4th and 5th beds the rooms have.

whats the room number? We had 9574 on the dream and slept 4 ( it didnt have the murphy bed) Next time we cruise we are going to have to find a room that sleeps 5 or doesnt come with the bunk because the bunk was too short for dd13

Just a point of information, the sofa bed, bunk bed, and Murphy bed are all the same size (twin).

Changes are it's a bunk bed. I think the rooms that sleep 4 that have a Murphy bed instead of a bunk are only on the Magic class ships. I could be wrong about that, though.

I have checked that site, PrincessSchmoo. Many times, hoping someone would report something. I can find a video of 9614 (which is the starboard version of 9114), but not of 9112 (or 9612). What is so strange is that DCL has told my TA a few times, now that there's a murphy bed in the room.

It sounds like you have called more than once to ask whether Fantasy 9112 has a ceiling bunk or a Murphy for the 4th pax.

And if I am correct each time they have answered it has a murphy for the 4th pax, I would give them the benefit of the doubt after many calls, resulting in the same conclusion. DCL would know better than anyone else. Especially if no data is elsewhere, and repeated specific calls.

As discussed, cat 4a - d cabin's 4th berth may vary. Ceiling or wall murphy for the 4th pax. DCL phone reps would know the most, outside of the thread link posted above.

We are relying on everyone to report back to that thread, to report missing bed configurations.

I believe DCL reps after three or so calls telling you 9112 has a murphy.
Worst case scenario it has a bunk, ..... pull mattress onto floor/balcony and sleep.

Great research. So does 9614 have a murphy for the 4th pax, or a ceiling bunk?

I will give you credit and kudos for this comparison, which I admit does exist loosely amongst the two vessels.

IOW if 9614 has a Murphy odds of 9112

I'm sure it will all work out.

Worst case, take mattress off bunk, place infront of veranda, it's really not that much different, except others may be able to step over said bed, due to reduced height, to access balcony. Which is good.

You can always ask for another mattress or foam topper, or both. To compliment any bedding configuration.

ETA; Update; Data wrong provided. OP in 9112. Opposite cabin is 9612. Ignore most of this post.

I think 9114 sleeps 5 and 9112 sleeps 4. I used PrincessSchmoo's idea to check how many could be booked in those rooms and I went through every cruise that's bookable next year. I could only find 2 with availability in 9112, but several in other staterooms around it. It looks like the connecting rooms near there have a 4/5 pax accommodation. Also, I would think DCL would present for booking to a group of 4 or less the rooms that only sleep 4, saving the 5s for groups larger than that unless the others are selected or booked up. That might be why 9112 is mostly booked next year and 9114 is not.

It will work out, because we actually booked both 9112 and 9114. DH insisted we spread out, as our boys are older. I just know that one will want the Murphy bed, so I'm checking all the details. When I come back, I'll update the stateroom list with what I found. I also want to get a picture of the metal piece running between the two stateroom balconies. It may not be problem for most, but with the connecting balcony, well, we'll see.
