I'm going to Disneyland in November and wanted people's opinion on what age children should ride Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain?

My son will be 4 by then, and my family and I were debating whether these rides would be a good idea or not? Please help!

It really depends on your child and how adventurous they are. My 4yo DD rode Big Thunder Mountain for the first time in March. She was hesitant at first, but ended up enjoying the ride and rode it a couple more times. We didn't try Splash Mountain because it was closed, but I think I'd wait another year before I take her on that anyway because of the one long drop.

Depends only on one thing. Your son and his fear and anxieties.

My son had done these by 4, no problem. But that's my son and not yours, so you have to see for yourself.

My son started riding Thunder at 3 and has loved it ever since, he laughs and laughs

Splash- He is cool with everything except the hill - but he has an adversion to hills which almost keeps him from riding pirates.

It all depends on the kid - let him see it and see what he thinks

We went in April and my 4 year old daughter loved BTMRR, Splash was closed so we didn't get the chance to try it. She also loved Space Mountain and Tower of Terror too though. Turns out she's quite the thrill seeker.

Thank you for all the feedback.

I've shown my son videos from youtube where they filming while on the rides, and with both of them, he said he wanted to go on them...especially the train.

So maybe I'll attempt BTMRR, and have him watch the drop at Splash Mountain once we get there to see if he really wants to try it.

He went on Pirates and had no problems on the 2 drops in that ride, so I'm definitely being hopeful. :goodvibes

A good tip for a first ride is to ride in the front of the train. It is a slower ride in the front as you lowered a little bit down the hills before the train picks up speed. If you sit at the rear it is much faster and you get pulled over the hills. :goodvibes
