Just wondering if anyone with a reservation for 2 adults has been recently and just curious as to whether there is a certain area where smaller parties are seated.

No, they will seat people anywhere. We requested to be seated & not stand at the bar. We were seated at a small table for 2 in the back room. Other posters have been seated at the large communal table in the bar room. Family members in a party of 2 were seated at a counter along the wall in the back room. All of the seating & standing areas are communal. They can seat different groups together in any of the areas.

I have also seen reports of groups of 2 adults seated in a small booth with a family of 2 adults and 2 kids.
This happened to us, but at one of the larger, Oga’s-type booths. We were a group of 4 - 3 adults and a 4-yo. We were seated at a table with an already-seated couple who were celebrating their honeymoon. Then a group with two adults and a child were added. It was cozy. The honeymooning couple didn’t last too long. They were asking about the waiter’s favs for their second drink when we arrived; the waiter came back right after the second group was seated and asked if they had decided, and the couple asked for the check.

I'm really torn. We have a reservation for Oct. 28 lunch time. I'm comfortable making small talk with strangers and wouldn't mind being at one of the long tables with others but I really don't want to be crammed into a booth with others. We have two more trips in the winter and spring coming up. I'm considering holding off and trying it perhaps when all the hoopla may have died down. Hoping by then they may at least avoid putting people together in booths...

I booked a res for 2 on Monday 12/15 (glad after missing out for my September trip with the botched reservation launch then the crazy disappearing slots mess, that as I hoped and predicted the reservations would calm down and get a little easier - I didn't even wake early to make reservations - I tried at 10am this morning and only early lunch times were available for Sat 12/14 but Monday was pretty easy to get a slot in early evening). I am a little more loose on how we get seated since it's more about seeing the place for the first time - if we end up with a shared table, even booth, I'm OK with it.

But if once I've seen and done it, I think I'd be OK with larger communal tables, but wouldn't want to be in a booth with a family or large group who know each other - especially if I was flying solo, but even with a party of 2.

I love talking with others and have no problems being social, but sometimes a group of people at a smaller booth area may not want to be social back - I would hope there'd be more of an effort in such seating areas to put groups of 1-2 together, but not a group of 4 with a solo or group of 2 unless unavoidable.

None of us really spoke to each other besides polite hellos and a short convo about if anyone had tried anything there yet. It really wasn’t that awkward to sit and talk with our own groups.
Now you want awkward, when we were at Oga’s for a morning res, we were seated at the stools on the straight edge of a booth. There were 8 people - 4 adults and 4 kids - in the booth who came after we were seated with a beverage. They immediately started talking about how they couldn’t understand why Disney had a restaurant that served alcohol at 10am and who would want to drink at that time or at Disney anyway. The waitress heard this, asked us if we wanted another, and said to the group, “You do know that cantina means bar, right?” 😅😅

We were there Sunday. A group of 4, we were out in a standing room only table with 10 others around it. However, it is really well done and the drinks are very good. They will watch the 45 minute limit closely.

I have a follow-up question to the OP's question. We will be a part of 2, first time Beak and Barrel visit and likely a long time before we can return. I am considering requesting to be in the main room even if we have to wait a little longer to go in. Thoughts? Other recommendations?

I’m pretty sure I’ve read other posts from people who requested the bar room. It absolutely doesn’t hurt to ask, especially if you’re prepared to wait if necessary. The table for 2 that we were at was at the far end of the back room. We couldn’t see any “action”. If I heard something going on, I got up to walk to the doorway to see. But by the time I got there, everything was over. So if seeing any possible actions is important for you, I think requesting the main room is a good idea.
