Question about Disney Reward Visa

Thinking seriously about the Rewards Visa. We use our card for everything and pay it off each month, so I'm guessing it would be a good thing. If we do, we'll get the Premier. My one question I can't find a concrete answer for: Can I use reward dollars to put towards booking a package? Is there a choice when checking out that allows you to use the rewards toward the cost of the vacation package itself? I see you can use it toward food at the resorts, and even airfare, but we drive and use the dining plan. The card won't be as useful if I can't use my reward dollars to pay for vacation at time of online booking.

Yes, the rewards dollars can be used to pay for your vacation package! You must first place them on a Rewards Card, but once you do, it works just like a gift card. You can apply the payment online or when you call Disney.

About 6 weeks before you book your vacation package, request a rewards card from Chase. You will have to put $20 on it. (You can request any amount, but it's safer to only send $20 thru the mail!) When you're ready to book your package, transfer your rewards dollars to your card. Go get yourself a soft drink, come back and book your package and use the rewards card to pay. pixiedust:

Keep your card, and keep using your Visa. Go to Disney and guarantee your room charges with your Disney Visa. (Do the Visa Meet-n-greet and take advantage of any discounts, btw!) The night before you leave, get a printout of your charges. Transfer as many reward dollars as you need/have onto your reward card. Go to the front desk, use the card to pay for your charges. If you don't have enough, pay for the balance with your Disney Visa and you'll already have extra dollars for your next trip!

If you plan to use the reward dollars to pay for the room/tickets then order your reward card several weeks before your payment is due. Like a previous poster said, it is used just like a gift card. You would simply call and give them the card number to redeem.

If you want to use your rewards in Disney then you can always wait until you get there, visit guest relations and get a card there. Some people prefer not to worry about the hassle but I like to earn as much as I can before a trip and don't want to risk it not arriving before i leave.

Excellent! This sounds almost too good to be true. Free Disney money for buying groceries? Yes please! Thanks guys!

As someone who is a major credit card person, I can say there are MUCH better cards out there. Barclay Arrivals or Capital One Venture both have big sign-on bonuses and give 2 points per dollar that can be spent on ANY travel. I got a 40,000 Bonus for getting the Barclay Arrivals card that deducted $400 off my trip. I'd look at one of those two cards.

This year we're going on a Disney trip and we got
Southwest cards to pay our flight free (50,000 sign on bonus)
Capital One Venture is paying for most of our hotel
Barclay Arrival is paying for most of our park tickets

This! I have the Capital One Venture card. I can pay for my Disney trip (or in my case, my Disney cruise we just did) and "erase" the purchase from my credit card within 90 days. I rack up points so fast on this card, and I use it to pay for my travels. You can book trips, flights, etc through them. I prefer to just book the travel myself, though, and use my miles to erase (get a credit) on my account. I can't speak highly enough about this card. I'm also a big fan of Capital One over other banks. :)

Can you use the Disney Visa rewards points to pay for airfare?
Or is that only with the Premier card?

I do the same as you (never pay interest...pay immediately)
We have the delta card that gives you 20k points for joining and first year is free...therafter it is $95. You also have free luggage with this.
After 1 year, I have $400 of skymiles. So my family of 3 are flying to MCO for $350.
I have the Visa Disney card (no annual fee). After 7 months of putting general expenses, I had $250 for disney.
We also did the visa disney signature. You get $200 after the first couple of months just for joining. You also get free meet and greet in park with a photo and 10% off of some restaurants.
With these 3 cards we saved $850 on our disney trip in april!

So excited!
