Question about David's Bridal?

I found the dress of my dreams on the David's Bridal website, and I'm just wondering-does David's Bridal sell specific brands or is it their own generic brand? When I click on the one I want it doesn't list a brand. I'm still saving up for it and it's still too early to buy it, so in case it's sadly discontinued by the time I'm ready to buy it, I want to be able to look in other places for it.

David's dresses are all their own David's brand, plus some legacy brands like Oleg Cassini that they bought and now produce themselves.

In general, they keep the more popular styles in stock for several years, so there's a good chance the one you want will be around for a while!

Thanks Carrie! How can I find out if it's a popular dress? I'm not even sure about how long it's been in stock. I actually got the idea from a fellow Dis bride who posted her dress on her PJ. Hers was a similar but more expensive brand, but she gave me the link to the David's Bridal version, which is almost identical to hers.

I'm at least a year away from purchasing my dress & it's currently $599, so it'll take me a while to save up.

Yes, it was you-Hi Leah!! It's thanks to you that I found my dream dress! I'm going to keep the cap sleeves though-I think they are so pretty & I always feel uncomfortable in strapless dresses.

Anyways, our tentative date will be December 2010 or January 2011.

Leah, BTW, did you end up adding any color to your dress? I'm thinking about a tiara with a colored stone (light blue or maybe pink), but I'm not sure if that would look weird. My shoes are going to be white flip flops with swarovski crystals-I'm determined to be comfy!

Be careful with Davids - they like to feed you a lot of bull when you go about how your dress may be "experimental" or "around for a long time, so they may disc soon" ... Obviously they want the sale... the second time I went to visit my dress I found out it really WAS discontinued... it was $200 off (so about $250), so I bought it on the spot, it was the only dress in that style in my size so I couldn't pass it up. So, its hard to say really with them, they'll tell you it's do or die, when it might not be -- but then again, it might be... not terribly helpful, but I say if it really is the one, go grab it as soon as you've saved...

Thank you for the tip! I plan to buy it as soon as I've got the $ saved up. Wow, your dress was only $250?? I hope mine goes on sale as well! It's been around since at least October, 2007 according to the reviews posted & seemed to be semi-popular this year so hopefully it will stick around!

I havn't added any color. My dress is ivory. I don't think I am going to either. I am not sure what I am going to do about a tiara im thinking of just a few hair pins that maybe look like the flowers on the dress. I am hoping a place near me can make me a few. We will have to see. Right now I just have the dress and veil. In terms of shoes...I will have heels for the ceremony but I will also have flip flops with swarovski's for myself and all my bridesmaids under the chairs at the reception. You can't bet we will also be comfortable.

Hmm, I just noticed that my David's Bridal dress says its available in: White/Blue, Ivory/Blue, Solid White & Solid Ivory. I can't tell what color the website photo is. I guess I'll have to see them in person to see which color would be best for me.

I have no idea how that happened. I mean it was almost a month since I updated it but I thougth it had to go 3 months with no activity before being closed. Who knows. Someday i'll start a new one.
