Question about corral placement

OK, I'm a walker and this will be my first marathon, so I know I'll be in the slowest start group. What happens if I get assigned to a red start and my walking buddy gets assigned to the blue? Will they let one of us switch so we can be together?

Jeanneg: I have been in 3 1/2 marathons with a corral system. If you and Nancy put down the same projected finish time, you will probably be in the same corral. If not, most people just jump the line after the race starts (that's when you all start to move). The volunteers don't usually say anything if you start in a different corral, but I would say to go back not forward. So if you are in corral 15 and Nancy is in 16, you both can start in 16 with no problem.

Beth: My concern is for the Disney marathon which is so huge, they have 2 totally different start points. One is blue, the other is red and they merge into yellow somewhere around 3 miles. If Nancy gets the last blue corral and I get the last red one, it's conceivable we won't ever cross paths as our start times may be staggered and 3-4 minutes would translate to 1/4 mile apart. Can anyone with WDW marathon experience clarify this?

Guys Just stay together, the volunteers are not going to arrest anyone and it's not going to effect the race outcome. Just walk in like you own the place and avoid the area where the volunteers are standing. If Erica and I were put in different corrals we would stay together anyway. Remember it's dark and there are 14,000 people, if a couple of sharp ladies can't pull that off.... Besides a litttle mission impossible tacktics would be fun. We will even hum the music for you.

All runners are able to go to a slower corral without any problems. All you have to do is go to the corral for whoever has the highest bib number and you will be able to stay together.

Last year the volunteers were very closely checking for correct corral placement. I forget which color start I had, but it was different from most WISHers. I met up with Cam, Rhonda, and Lily just outside of Epcot after the courses merged. I think you can go to Runners Relations at the expo and ask for changes.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed to be on the RED course since DH and other WISHers are volunteering at a RED water station. I'm guessing if you registered about the same time and estimated the same finish time you will probably be together. If not, our shirts sure make it easy to spot each other!!

Thanks for the advice. I'm assuming we'll be able to work it out somehow. Afterall, it's not like we're trying to get into a faster group....we just want to be together. I believe Nancy registered online and technically I have not yet registered with Disney but have a guaranteed spot with one of the marathon tour groups. Since my daughter decided she wanted to do the Goofy after it was closed, it was the only venue available to her. So John, Jason (son,22) and myself signed up that way also.
