I know there is the new 24 hour cancellation policy which is fine. Right now I have a late ressie for Chef Mickeys. If something earlier opens up the day of my ressie and I want to change the time is it considered a cancel? And will I have to pay the fee? How does that work?
Thanks!

I have changed the time on existing reservations several times since the new policy and have never been charged. I have never been able to edit the time on the MDE app, though - only cancel and rebook at the new time. So I would suggest calling the dining number and requesting the change.

Are you asking about being charged the fee if you change the reservation before 11:59 pm on the day before the reservation OR are you asking about being charged if you change the reservation during the day of the reservation?

If it's the former (i..e, now until 11:59 pm on the day before the reservation), then you can do whatever you want without being charged the cancellation fee.

If it's the latter (i.e., it's between midnight and the time of the reservation on the day of the reservation), then you might be charged the cancellation fee.

Whenever I've changed reservation times, even if the day has stayed the same, I've always been given a new confirmation number and the old reservation has to be cancelled. If the times are close enough, the system will ask me to choose which reservation to keep and if they're further apart, I have to go back and cancel the old one myself.

Thank you. Yes I was asking if I change after the 24 hour mark. I have noticed that when I put in the current day that a lot seems to pop up for dinner on the same day. Not saying that will happen on my day but if I checked that morning and a better time popped up I guess I would have to pay the fee to cancel the later reservation. Thanks for the info.

You will not pay a fee if you call WDW-DINE, even within the 24 hour window. You are changing the reservation not canceling it. I had the same concern before I tried it the first time, and the reservation agent said it was no problem at all to make a change.
