Hello! My sister and I are Disney veterans but are planning our first trip to Fort Wilderness this summer!

We are excited to try out the cabins, but we were wondering how the A/C compared to the other resorts. Would you say that they cool better, worse, the same? Also, a lot of the other resorts we have stayed at have a lock on the thermostat that we ask to have lowered to 68. Does anyone remember if the cabins default to 70? We were planning more of a relaxing trip where we go to the parks in the evenings and a warm cabin in the afternoon would be the type of surprise we wouldn't want.

Thanks and any comments are appreciated!

I like it to be cold for sleeping and I was very comfortable in the cabins. Each cabin has its own a/c unit. I don't remember if there was a limit to how low you could go.

I don’t remember any of our thermostats being locked in WDW resorts. DH loves a cold room and we’ve never had a problem. Are you comparing resorts outside of WDW or is this something new or I missed?

Thanks for the info! It's great to hear that the cabins will be cool at night.

Heather, we normally stay at the Yacht Club. My sister likes it pretty cold when getting ready and we always ask for the block to be lowered and for a box fan. Honestly, I will hide under the covers when she turns it down low.

I think the real issue is that some of the resorts don't have good air circulation in the rooms. The vents will be by the door and without a fan, there isn't anything to push the air around. The Poly was much better, since it had vents in the main part of the room as well.

Never had an issue with the AC in the Cabins. IIRC you can control the AC and I don't believe they default to 70. If they do you may be able to override them.

The Cabins are great.

should not have any problems lowering in summer but many places in fall and winter have set so you cant lower air so that heat comes on. we have run into this a few times and could not over ride it

The cabin a/c is cold and vents blow great. It is a central unit just like home. Heat works nice as well. Cabin thermostats do not have defaults/presets built-in. However, housekeeping will move the temperature back up.

I personally freeze in the cabins, so we typically keep it around 70. Just enough to keep it cool and the humidity out.

Also, FYI, the bedroom vent is right above the bunk. Something to think about for whoever sleeps on top.
