Question about buying tickets to get DDP

Ok this is a confusing question, I know. I don't even know if I am posting it in the right place but here goes.

We already have park hopper / no expiration tickets. When we go back to Disney we were told those unused days will get linked to our next KTTW card. If we want to buy the DDP I would have to buy a day's admission to the park for each of us. How does that work? Does that go on the KTTW too? When I go to the parks, how do they know which ticket to use? Do they use your oldest tickets up first? I know I am getting way ahead of myself but I keep wondering if they offer FDP when we go, and I decide to use that offer instead of the 30% we used, how in the heck will it work.

It is kind of making my head spin :upsidedow

I think I need a degree in Disney. :teacher:
Thanks for any input, I greatly appreciate it!

If you want to buy the dining plan you must purchase at least a one-day admission ticket for everyone age 3 or over.

If you want free dining you must purchase at least a 2-day admission ticket for everyone age 3 or over.

Yes, the minimum ticket purchase goes on your KTTW card. I do not know how that affects also having extra tickets added to your KTTW. You do not HAVE to put your old tickets on the KTTW card if you do not want to. If you choose not to, then you must insert into the turnstile at the park whichever ticket you plan to use for your admission that day. If you have a park hopper you must use the same ticket to enter another park on the same day.

How many unused days do you have left?
How long were you planning on going for?
What resort are you staying at (I would guess a moderate)?
What are the ages of those traveling (anyone that would be considered a child, age 3-9)?

Depending on the answers it may or may no be more economical to stay with the 30%.

The best way to check which would be better is to price out a package with room and tickets only... this would give you the cost if FD is offered for when you are going.

Next take the 30% discount you have, add in any necessary tickets, and estimate about how much you would spend on food if you did not have the dining plan and had to pay out of pocket for each meal. Would you do a sit down meal every day if not for the dining plan? If I had to guess I would say they come out fairly close.

Hmm.. so I would use my old KTTW for my no expiration tickets then? And I didn't realize you needed to buy 2 days for the FDP. I think the 30% is better for us then... :confused3
so....much....thinking......
