I'm already a DVC owner and bought direct while at WDW. My parents are interested in whether or not you can purchase DVC through the mail? I plan on calling my guide but always forget when I'm home. They assume that once the specifics are agreed upon, all of the paperwork can be handled through the mail/FedEx without ever having to meet or sign anything in person. Is this true?

Except for locations where DVC is not registered to sell (mostly foreign addresses - I'm not aware of any unregistered US state), you can just call a DVC guide, provide payment information and get documents via FedEx for signature.

Enjoy! :)

Thanks! I assume you can still finance through them if you're purchasing via phone/FedEx as well, right?

All you need to do is pass the credit check and provided the notarized loan agreement.

It seems to me that there are some phone prohibitions. I remember hearing the message on our guides phone. I think there was some sort of problem with calling back. I remember that New Jersey was one of the problems in that regard. This was a few years ago, but because I have a NJ connection the idea stuck with me, but not clearly.:rotfl:

PS. On the other hand, we live in Ohio and we bought from DVC by phone. I've never met my guide, Michelle, in person.

Very simple. DH called, say "let's do it", gave his SS info over the phone, guide ran credit got the OK, stuff was sent out, we signed it, found a bank notary who would notarize forms with "mortgage" on them (we ran into issues with this as we were doing it as Wamu was switching over to become Chase, and REFUSED to even touch the paperwork since it said "mortgage"), sent it back in the included FedEx envelope, and that was that!

There also can be a problem with some of the non-active resorts when DVC wasn't registered in the state at the time they were active. For example in NV I can't buy BCV or VWL and I believe BWV, VB, HHI and OKW over the phone directly from DVC.
