question about borrowing????

Ok so we want to take a trip in nay 2014, we only have 15 left for 2013 , none left in 2014 , 62 points left for 2015 and 160 for 2016 . We would need the 15, 62 and 160 to be able to go on our trip , can I use my 2016 points.

What is your use year? For a 2014 stay, there is no way 2016 would be available. 2015 would be available to borrow for May 2014 if you use year is February, March or April.

Points have to be available during your stay.

Banking moves the points to the next UY. Borrowing moves them to one UY prior.

Based on a stay date of May 2014, will you have enough points?

Its august, right now I have I have 15 avaliable since we took a vacation, but I have 62 for 2015 and 160 for 2016 if I was able to borrow 2016 I would have enough to take our borthday trip at the end of may

Nope. Not if travel is in 2014. Doesn't matter your use year.

If you were to travel any time in your 2015 window, you can borrow from 2016 but you would lose your 2013 points (of course you can rent them out). Unfortunately, you have zero points left in 2014 so you cannot bank them for travel in 2015.

With an August use year, you can't even borrow 2015 for May. A May 2014 is in your 2013 use year so all you could borrow is 2014. Why do you only have 62 for 2015? You can only borrow 2015 for a stay 8-1-14 or after. Did you recently book an August or early September trip for next year? If you didn't, then double check your balances, something is not right.

Then all you will have available for May 2014 is the 15 left for 2013. If you want to go, I would either rent or transfer points from another member or get a room through Disney. Or do an add-on.

Here is how its easy for me to remember what I can use. Any trip can be paid for with points that are banked from the UY prior to the trip, points for the UY of the trip and borrowed points from the UY after a trip.

What you always want to do is forget about the calendar year and focus on your UY and when you are taking the trip,.

So, as mentioned, a May 2014 trip takes place in your August 2013 UY--which runs August 1st, 2013 through July 31st, 2014.

To "pay" for that trip, you can use banked 2012 points, 2013 points, or borrow 2014 points.

I had asked about use year because there is a magical time period where you might have a trip straddle a use year (for example July 28-August 2nd) where you might have been able to get that next years worth of points to cover the days after August 1st...
