Question about booking through SW on a flight operated by Air Tran

If I book a flight through the SW site on a flight operated by Air Tran will we need to pay baggage fees? The rep I talked to said no, but I thought I read somewhere that we would still have to.

Also, the SW rep stated that when we do the 24 hour advance checkin our seats will be assigned for us. Yes or No?

I have a companion pass and am of the understanding that I can use it on a SW flight that is operated by Air Tran.
