I was wondering if I could make my reservation now for room only and add a discount when it comes out? Also if I book room only can I add the Dining plan and park tickets and still get a room only discount? Any advice would be helpful! We usually book free dining package but the dates we want were not available this year so we reconsidering room only and hoping for a discount. Thanks in advance for any advice!:)

As long as what you have booked is available under the discount, you can have it applied to your existing reservation. Also, a room discount can be applied to a package reservation, with the discount applying to the room portion only. If you book RO now and change to a package later, it's not as simple as just adding the DDP and/or tickets. The RO would have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. HTH :).

Thank-you for the reply!:) So instead of booking a room only reservation should I book it as a package and then I could add a room only discount to my package if one comes out?

You're welcome! If you know you want a package, I'd book that from the start. If a room discount comes out that is available for your dates/resort, you can call and have it applied to the room portion of your reservation. Keep in mind that not all resorts/room types are always included in promos, so sometimes you have to be flexible. With that said, I'd have a 2nd resort choice just in case what you have booked isn't available with a discount ;).

Thank-you so much! We always book free dining at CBR but wanted to try POR next year. We booked a free dining BB for POR when we were at Disney in November but we could only get one for September in a river view room. We do not do well in the heat and would prefer mid November.:sunny: I was thinking of doing a standard room at POR and adding park tickets and the dining plan. We are considering not adding Park Hoppers because we found it wasted a lot of time on our last trip trying to shuffle 3 little ones to more than 1 park a day. The price difference is around $600 more to go when we want in a standard room and pay for dining. If I could add a room only discount later it would bring down that $600 difference.:) For $600 we may have to brave the heat if we can't get a room discount.:sad1: Thank-you for the advice! I didn't know you could book a package and add a room only discount later if it was available!

You're welcome, glad I could help :).

If you will only go in November with a discount, I'd maybe wait to see what (if any) discounts come out for your dates before booking. Booking ahead of time in hopes of a discount could work against you as Disney offers discounts to fill rooms. If a resort is at or near capacity, Disney will see no need to offer a discount on that particular resort (and/or room type). If what you have booked is available under the discount, you can have the discount applied, but having a reservation already in place does not guarantee you a discount. Hope this makes sense and didn't confuse you ;).

Thank-you, you made perfect sense and didn't confuse me.:) I talked to my husband and I think we will go in November with our without the discount. We just came back from our end of October beginning of November trip and it was way too hot for us. My sister in law lives in Florida and said the weather was what September is usually like in Florida. We went around the same time in 2013 and the weather was great. If we don't add park hopper the price difference will be less than $400 to avoid the heat and enjoy our trip more.:)

Glad I didn't confuse you :goodvibes. If you will be going in November regardless of whether or not a discount comes out, I'd book now to make sure you get the resort/room type you want. Spending a little more during a time of year you enjoy and staying where you want is worth it, IMO ;). Good luck and happy planning :wizard:.

Thank-you so much for all of your help!:) Now maybe I can relax until it's time to book ADR's!:scared:
