Question about booking online

I've been checking Disney's site and getting quotes for the free meals plan. This deal is too good to pass up, especially since the cost of our meals at Disneyland this past weekend is still fresh in my mind!

But I can't find anywhere on their site what their policy is on cancellation or changes to ressies. Can anybody tell me?

Lynn

I have made reservations for the hotel and changed the day ( by one day) a couple weeks later without any problem. And then had the free dining added (since we where already going then). And they made that "change" for me. Also on the dining reservations the only ones that you will be held accountable are the shows (or signature restaurants) where you hold the reservation with you credit card. They have a 48 hr cancellation needed on those. But if you know you are not going to make it to a restuarant at all they ask that you cancel it.

I called to get a reservation and after 20 minutes of figuring everything out, the CM finally tells me that with this package there is a 45 day cancellation policy!!! I didn't book because I felt that was way too far out from a trip to know whether you have to cancel. The normal room-only cancellation policy is 5 days (or at least it was the last time I went) which is more reasonable. I don't know why they have the 45 day policy, but I wasn't comfortable with it. I have no idea what you lose if you cancel, but I imagine it is your deposit. I would suggest calling to find out the details before you book. I may be wrong about the 45 days, but the CM I talked to seemed pretty sure!!

Do not book online. You are not booking directly with Disney, but with some travel agency. Call 407-WDISNEY.
When using disneyworld.com, you are booking with the Walt Disney Travel Company, which is part of Disney. CRO is slightly different, but the agents you talk to on the phone are trained for both. Please see http://www.mousesavers.com/disneyresorts.html#roomonly for the details and differences.

I thinkt the cancellation policy is before 45 days, no charge, 45 to 6 days, $100 charge, under 6 days, $200 charge. Pkg. is to be paid in full by 45 days out.
I got the travel ins. with the MYW pkg, so if we cancel for the accepted reasons (illness, injury, etc.), then we only lose the $89 for the ins. And you can't add insurance after you are paid in full (I was told by a CM on my last trip.)

All of Disneymom5's information is correct. It doesn't matter whether you book online or call, you are still booking a package if you want the free dining and therefore are subject to the package cancellation rules.

Agreed! Call them up to book. When you book online you are in fact going thru a Travel Agent, not disney direct even though it's on there website!

Which Means that say you decide you want to change your hotel (like I did) I had to cancel my orig. res. and have that refunded to my credit card, and then book a new res.

It's a real pain. They should really list on there website that it is done thru a travel agent. because I argued with someone over the phone for at least 10 minutes saying that i didn't book my res. on disney.com and that someone else did it for me.

Just save yourself a lot of hassles and book over the phone.

May I ask what travel agent you think you are dealing with when booking online? and where you got this information?

Well When I called up disney to inquire about the res. they said that the particular line of res. #'s (mine began with 530) meant that it was booked from a travel agency.

That's all the info they gave me. - I was a bit confused too.

I did all my ressies over the phone (I feel more comfortable talking to someone). When I changed some "stuff ". They refunded my deposit and started all new ressies

It would be MUCH easier if they just let you transfer your existing room deposit over to the new ressie. But it is aggravating having to wait 3-4 days for those funds to reappear on ur credit card.
