I booked our vacation online but had to call to add on the dining plan. When I was on the phone with the CM she asked if we will be celebrating any birthdays or special occasions and I said "no, not then". The truth is, that while we won't be there on the actual DATE of my son's birthday, it is part of the reason we are going, as well as our 13th anniversary. We haven't been on vacation in 10 years and decided that since the week we had free was right between our anniversary and DS's birthday that it was perfect timing.

So, my question is....should I have said "yes"? Is there something special that they do when you are celebrating special events? Should I call back? I'm so confused now.:confused3

Honestly, I'm not sure if they actually do anything special or not. However, when I called recently to make my ADR's I was asked the same thing. The first ADR was made on my birthday and I told her so. Later in the conversation while we were making the other ADR's she told me that she just copied and pasted all my info so if they acknowledge my B-day all week long that would be why. So it sounds like they may acknowledge it, but I'm one to go with the flow. If it happens I would be thrilled, but if it doesn't then I will be okay with it.

Bumping in 'cause I am curious about this too. Our (DW and I with the tag-alongs) December 2007 trip will be a 10th Anniversary trip... When we return home, we will be down to see the bankruptcy judge, I'm sure. :lmao:

I don't remember what they do as far as when your dining, but if you go to the information center at main street in mk they will give you a pin that says today is my birthday.

I think I may get a pin for DS to wear. I'm trying to think of something cute to do for DH on Valentine's day  since we will have had our anniversary right before our trip.....but he won't be home for it.:sad1:

Here is deal.

If you are celebrating a birthday, the only way to know it is it would be annotated on your reservation.

When you check in at your hotel and realize it is your birthday, the front desk can set something up for you.

Most cases they will give you a Happy Birthday pin to put on your shirt to wear around Disney, then when Cast Members see it, they will recognize it is someones birthday and congratulate them.

The front desk receptionist can also arrange a Birthday card to find its way to the birthday guests favorite charecter and they will sign it and deliver it to your room.

It all depends on how busy our charecters are. Mickey is extremely busy with all of his shows and meet and greets. Yet somehow Mickey finds time to stop by and deliver birthday cards to our birthday guests occasionally. He is soooo busy that sometimes it just isnt possible, but he tries his hardest.

DEFINATELY TELL THEM!!! WE CELEBRATED MY DS 3RD BDAY AT DISNEY ON DEC 6, 2006 AND IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!!:cheer2:
WE HAD ADR'S AT LTT AND THEY SPRINKLED BDAY CONFETTI ON OUR TABLE. THEY ALSO PRESENTED MY SON WITH A BDAY CARD SIGNED BY CHIP N DALE, GOOFY, MINNIE, AND PLUTO. I OREDERED HIM A CAKE FROM THE MAGIC KINGDOM BAKERY, IT HAD WOODY ON IT, FOR ONLY $25.
I GOT HIM A BDAY BUTTON FROM CITY HALL AND HE RECEIVED MANY BDAY WISHES FROM CM AND GUEST, WE WERE EVEN ALLOWED INTO THE FP LINE BECAUSE THEY SAW HIS BUTTON! I HAD A SHIRT AR BRUSHED THAT SAID "I'M TURNING THREE WITH MICKEY" ON THE FRONT AND ON THE BAK IT SAID " IT'S MY BDAY", IT WAS A HUGE HIT! EVERYONE LOVED IT, FROM CM, GUEST, TO THE CHARACTERS! :yay:
MY ADVICE IS FOR YOU TO READ UP ON CELEBRATING A BDAY AT DISNEY AND YOU WILL BE FULL OF WONDERFUL IDEAS, THAT IS WHAT I DID AND THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST DISNEY VACATION I HAVE EVER HAD:flower3:

I'd say yes, tell them that you're celebrating whatever it is you'll be celebrating while you're there, even if it's not the exact date of the occasion.

We were total newbies when we made our reservation last August, but got talking to the CM and mentioned that one reason we were so excited to be going was that we would be celebrating our 10th anniversary. The CM didn't say anything to us about it, but she apparently noted that fact on our reservation because when we got to the Wilderness Lodge, they put balloons and a nice card in our room wishing us a happy anniversary! It was a wonderful, magical surprise.

When we stayed at fort wildreness campground and all star music and Port orleans riverside we told them it was one of my dc birthdays and each time a Balloon boquet and a signed card from there favorite character was delivered to the room/ campsite. No charge. You can also get a small cake decorated for there birthday at one of the eating places cake will run you about $12.50 last time I checked(cafeteria style). Just call down to the desk after you check in or note it on your reservations

I like to stop by the Gooding right near the gateway to DTD and pick up a cake and some streamers and stuff and then when the kids are at the pool or out wondering I decorate. I am not sure if sit down dinners will do something or fancy hotels on Disney property .

At Boma's they brought my wife out a special birthday desert plate.

Yes, let them know! We stayed at the Polynesian for our 10th anniversary, and when we returned to the room the next day we had a super-sweet Happy 10th Anniversary card (complete with a 5X7 pic of Sorcerer Mickey) signed by Mickey himself! The card is proudly displayed in our curio cabinet as a nice back-drop to our Disney stuff.

We were celebrating our 7th Anniversary during our last trip and wore our "Anniversary" buttons. Everywhere we went, CMs made a point of wishing us a happy anniversary and when we arrived for our dinner reservation at Boma's, we were presented with an anniversary card signed by some of the CMs on duty as well as a nice anniversary cookie plate at the end of our dinner.

Awww, this sounds like so much fun. I will call and ask them to make a note of it. I like the idea of ordering a little birthday cake for DS from the Bakery. Should I do that when we get there or is there a number to call or a website to visit to order it in advance?

Thanks for all the responses!!
