Question about alcohol on DDP

If I want to have two alcoholic beverages with dinner and order a $8 beer first, then later a $15 cocktail (both DDP eligible), will the server automatically put the most expensive one on the plan and charge for the other? In other words, put the cocktail on the plan and pay cash for the beer. Or do I need to specify this somehow if I order the beer first?

They “should”, but I would probably mention it to the server just as a reminder.

Last week I use the App to order 1 quick service meal to split along with a $9 beer and a $15 drink. I was only charged for the $9 beer

I guess you could ask before they run it or just bring it up after the bill if they happen to charge you for the more expensive drink. I would think servers would be in the habit of applying the more expensive drink on the DDP (assuming both are eligible drinks).
