We know to carry on our cameras and stuff since the big scanners can mess with them, but I have a question about putting a couple of things in checked luggage that will be presents. I have iTunes gift cards and a class 10 SD card and both are still in packaging. Again all of them are presents and are still in original packaging. Will the big scanners mess with them, with their activation or performance in the future?

They are all fine. Cameras are fine, only film 800 speed or over can be damaged. But they should still be in your carryon, nothing valuable should be checked.

I've got three class 10 SD cards and have never had a problem - in and out of packaging, but I do agree with keeping them in the carryon bag as my friend has had some stolen.

THANK YOU DIS!!! This is why I love:love: the DIS, you help me think. We don't fly much and were so worried about the scanners we forgot to think that items might just grow legs and walk away. We just have a few items to give the kids on Christmas morning and was going to pack all of them in checked. I am putting them in our carryon right now.:thumbsup2

What is this "film" of which you speak?

Amazingly enough there are some people that still prefer film to digital. There is a certain quality/format that just cannot be mirrored. It's like records, many DJs still swear by them because of the unique sound reproduction.

I know that many prefer film, it was just my attempt at humor.
