Question about After Dark nights

I've only been to Disneyland on an After Dark night when I was attending the event. If you aren't attending, what time do you leave the park? I know the park says it closes at 8, but the event starts at 9. Does that mean can you hang around Main Street until 9?

Also....is DCA totally packed once Disneyland closes on those nights?

Bump! One of our February nights will be Sweethearts night so I'm wondering what to expect.

They start encouraging people to move to the exits before 8pm. At 8pm they start looking for wristbands. If you're in a store before 8 you can finish your shopping but not really hang around.

Yes, DCA gets busy after the Disneyland closing time.
