Question About Adding Hopper Option to MYW Tix

I'm on the MYW plus dining package for the 1st week in October. Right now, my husband, daughter, and I have 5-day MYW tix with the park hopper option, while my parents, who are on the same package, have the 5-day base ticket. (We were able to do this because we have 2 rooms.) Anyway...

Is there a difference in the cost if I add the park hopper option to my parents' base tix now vs. waiting until check in to do this? I know that any changes to the package could result in change fee if I don't do this before the 45th day prior to arrival, so I would definitely make this change before that date. However, I don't think that fee will be charged if I made the change at check in. What I don't know is if there is an actual difference in the cost of adding this feature in advance vs. adding it upon arrival.

After you check in and after you receive your tickets, hand out the tickets to each family member and they can add hopping, etc. as they please*.

Adding hopping to an MYW ticket costs $37. no matter how many days were on it, how many days remain, where you bought the ticket, or how much you paid for the ticket.

*In May 2005 a CM at Epcot's Guest Relations told me that once the tickets of a package are printed and given to the guest, the tickets stand alone and can be individually upgraded.

You will be assessed a change fee only if there's a rate increase on your package. I believe that fee is charged if changes are made 21 or fewer days prior to arrival.

Because there would be a rate change, you would probably be better advised to wait, and add the hopping option, or more days at the parks.
