Question about AAA discount

How much does it save?

We don't have AAA--never have--but are considering getting it for next year so we'd get the discount on our Sept 2009 trip. Would it be worth getting AAA JUST for a discount to WDW?:rotfl: . I doubt we'd ever actually need to use the AAA. How much does it cost to get?

Also--if I book and want the AAA discount, can I book the trip myself or does an AAA agent HAVE to book it? I like to book our own trips--I'm always afraid someone else will goof it up.

If you book with an AAA discount, and then a better (disney) code comes out, can you then cancel the AAA discount and use the better code instead?

TIA!

Kelly

AAA membership is $50 and yes it's usually worth it to get the membership if your trip is long enough. I think the discount is 15 or 20%. In addition to Disney you also get discount for a lot of other places - like restaurants etc.

I've booked myself and used the AAA discount. You have to show the membership card at check.

I have had that same worry. I did transfer mine to AAA. You can only book a AAA room only through disney direct. If you change it to a package you lose your room discount. AAA can set up a package & you still get the room AAA rate. If a code comes out for that time AAA can change it to that code. Hope that ansers your question.

If you want the dining package, AAA has to book it for you.

It's well worth the membership fee (here it's $70, I think.)

The reason I joined was to get a discount on my Disney trip. I have also used it to get a room only discount when no other discount was available to me. I also used it to get a discount on my AP's. I saved $250 on my trip coming up in December.

If you book a package with AAA, you will get a card for discounts at the World Of Disney Store at DTD, as well as some discounts at restaurants and on recreation.

We drive to WDW, so it is nice to have the peace of mind that they are there if we need roadside assistance. They also have a car care center at WDW.

You can check out www.aaa.com for that info. Its like a $9 savings on Florida resident season passes (sorry don't know the others)

How much is the discount on AP's. I'm considering purchasing AP's for our next trip. Any savings would be great!

I saved almost $100 on 3 adult AP's. I purchased through a Georgia office (don't live in Georgia). I am not sure other states offer a discount.

I have AAA.

I got quotes from Disney's website & AAA to compare.

I was looking at a package (room, hoppers and dining).

AAA would save me $99.03 total. It's a savings, but I'm not sure I want to relinquish "control" of my entire reservation as we have 3 rooms and would like to be able to call Disney directly with requests, dining ressies, etc...

I thought booking with AAA would have been a bigger savings :confused3

I've used AAA three years in a row.

All three times, we've saved about $400 on EACH trip using AAA. We stay at the Poly during the Deluxe value season (July in 06 and 07, early August in 08) we have not been able to get any discounts from Disney.

So for the membership for DH and me, about $90 each year here in the Chicago area ($270 for the three years of the Disney discounts), we've saved about $1200 at Disney. And, AAA gets you discounts at most other hotels, generally 10%, and the maps are very nice and free too!

It depends on what time of year you are going. Threre are times when a discount doesn't even apply. There are 2 days on my ressie that do not qualify for a discount. You don't actually relinquish all control to AAA, you still have control over your dining ressies, you just don't control your room ressie.

Really? I thought EVERYTHING had to go through AAA....so I can book my room, tickets & dining thru them, but can call and make my own dining ressies. IF a code comes out, I would have to call AAA directly and ask THEM to apply it (if applicable)?

Yes, if a code comes out that is better than the AAA rate, you should call and ask the agent to apply it.

You can make your own dining reservations if you would like whether you have the DDP or not. I have in the past, but my agent has offered to do it each time, and this time, I'm going to let her do it.

If you have a special room request (like floor or building), you need to tell the agent, too, because it gets noted on the reservation.

Thank you both PrincessSuzanne and Tam1067 for your help...I just might use AAA after all :)

Not a problem. I had a little bit of trouble with my AAA agent the first time I used her, so I have learned alot.

This year, I booked the package I wanted and then had my AAA agent send a fax to Disney asking to have the ressie transferred to a AAA agent at Disney and that way nothing got messed up.

I wouldn't trust anyone with my dining ressies. I do those myself, because if the time I want isn't available, then I can work with WDW dining myself and not have to deal with multiple calls or e-mails.

Good Luck and if something doesn't sound right, question them.

Just to clarify, you can get a AAA discount by making phone ressies directly through Disney also (therefore you remain in total control of your account)

That's what I ended up doing for our trip, and I ended up saving almost $300. The quote online for our resort was $1400, and with our AAA we're paying about $1120. :)

You can do AAA through CRO for room only. If you want a package (tickets and DDP) with the AAA rate on the room portion of the package, you need to call an AAA agent.

Really!!?? I didnt think there were any discounts for AP's at all....was this recently?

Anyone know of discounts...

Can you get free dining(if avail) and AAA package discount thru AAA?

I'm pretty sure you can only get one discount at a time. So if you get free dining, I don't think you can also get the AAA discount on the room.

Someone else, correct me if necessary, OK? (The free dining period won't ever be a option for us; we're both teachers and are back to school by then.)
