Question about AAA Diamond Parking Vouchers

I've seen it mentioned in several posts that the AAA Diamond parking vouchers get you parking spots near the front.

I've seen those Disney lots and they are HUGE.

We're planning to go in the 2nd week of Feb 2010, and I'm wondering; would the voucher make much difference? (are a LOT of spots given over to the AAA?) Is there anyone out there who has used those vouchers, are they difficult to use?

Also, there seems to be 2 different types of vouchers - a black and white one, and a coloured one. Is there a difference? I will be purchasing from Ebay, and I don't want to get scammed.....

Any advice much appreciated.

As for "legally" obtaining the AAA passes, you can only get them through a AAA/CAA Auto Club -- some auto clubs require you to book your entire WDW vacation through them, while others only require the purchase of park tickets from the auto club.

Yes, there are the two types of vouchers, the colored one is obtained by booking at the Auto Club, while the B&W version is issued to those who book their vacations online through the AAA website.

As with anything, there is always potential for scamming (espcially for something non-sanctioned like this) - while many are selling their left-over passes from their vacation, there will be a few bad apples trying to get a dishonest buck or two...

AAA Diamond parking passes CANNOT be sold or transferred - therefore, simply by purchasing one from anywhere you're participating in an invalid transaction. Don't know if I'd go so far as to call it a scam, but...

But, anyway - no, there are not a lot of AAA spaces.

Yes, the parking lots are huge but they are serviced by regularly-running trams. Guests using the handicapped or AAA spaces don't have that option.

They are subject to black-out periods, both predesignated and as-needed. You may pay for the pass, then arrive and find you never have the opportunity to use it.

The AAA parking passes are not supposed to be used by anyone but the person that booked the trip. To pay for one is crazy since they are free with a package, so people are trying to profit off a perk they got for free.

I booked our Aug. package with a AAA TA and we were given the black and white one. AAA has started putting names and dates on the passes so they are only valid for the trip period. Even if the colored ones on Ebay don't have a name/specific date, they will expire usually by year end. Our pass has our name and specific trip dates on it. When we used it last year at Animal Kingdom they let us through the parking lot gates and told us what line to follow but when we actually got to the parking spaces there was an attendant there checking every car that came her way. Since the spots are limited and they have had so much abuse of the passes, they have started cracking down on the passes.

Well, I'm certainly glad that I checked here before buying one on Ebay!
