question about 7 month mark

Hello!! we are currently booked into SS from July 23-August 1st, 2007. I am wanting to try for a different resort. where can i find out exactly what my 7 month mark is? I know the 23rd makes sense but I want to hear from the experts!! Also, since Christmas and all what days would I actually be able to call for each day? If anyone can really break it down for me i would love you forever!!! Thanks you so much!!

It's 7 months from checkout. 7/23 would checkout on 7/24, so the first you could call for that night would be Tuesday, Dec 26 (you could also call for 7/24, 7/25). On Wednesday, you could call for 7/26, Thursday for 7/27, Friday for 7/28, Saturday for 7/29, Tuesday Jan 2 for the rest.

When you call on Tuesday, I would ask them to check availability for the entire period. That way you would know if there are already nights soldout. If so, you may want to wait until Jan 2 and waitlist for the entire time.

On the DVC member website, under "My Points" it shows your booked vacations, point balances, and gives the exact date you can make each type of reservation.

I also recommend downloading CaskBill's (one of our awesome mods ) PointTracking program. He has 2 programs available for download (FREE) that help with points, planning, etc. Very easy to use.

You can find the links in CaskBill's signature (so you can use the Search function here) and I am pretty sure that vascubaguy has them in his sig., too.

You can make a ressie 7 months from your check out date. If you check out August 23rd then you can book your entire stay 7 months before that date or 1/23/07.

You could also book day by day (which I'll never do), by booking your first day 7 months from the check IN day. Lets say your checkIN day was the 16th for that trip, you could book day one on 1/16/06. You would call each subsequent day until all of your days are booked. Ask them to link the ressies so you do not have to check out and in.


EDit: in your case day by day booking can start on 12/23/06. Entire trip booking can start on 1/2/06 since MS is closed on the 1st.

All reservations are based on the checkout date. If you want to reserve day-by-day and your arrival date (check-in date) is 8/16 you can reserve that date on 1/17 (the checkout date for the 16th would be the 17th).

Day-by-day is not usually necessary - except for GVs at any resort, Standard View at BWV and BW View at BWV. Smaller resorts - like VWL and BCV may also find advantage reserving Thanksgiving and early December on a daily basis.

When calling for the first day, just let MS know you will be reserving a longer stay day-by-day and they will hold the confirmation letter until all your days have been reserved - then each subsequent day you call just let MS know you are adding to an existing reservation and you'll have only ONE reservation number and one confirmation letter.
