I was just ready a post about incentives that DVC is offering for buying into Saratoga Springs. We are still in the process of making up our minds about buying in & wanted to find out if anyone knew anything about the 2 Annual Passes offered. We haven't been told that but were offered $10.00 off per point. Is there some new incentive? Also on the website it has the free vacation offer does anyone know if that is in conjunction with the other offers? Thanks.

Note that the Annual Pass promotion is only being offered to existing members adding-on at least 130 points at SSR. Sounds like you aren't a member a present. Sorry.

Here's some info on the promotions being offered to new members:

Current price at Saratoga Springs is $95 per point. Purchase incentives are as follows:

1. Pay the base price of $95 per point, with first points coming sometime after March 2005. No dues payments or interest (if financed through DVC) until mid-2005.

In addition, you receive a set of Developer's Points for use at any DVC resort OTHER than SSR between now and 9/30/05. This option is currently being billed as a "free vacation" by DVC. The number of Developer's points received is equal to the number purchased in your SSR contract (buy a 150-pt ownership at SSR, receive a one-time grant of 150 Developer's Points.)

2. Pay a discounted price of $85 per point, with the first points coming sometime after March 2005. No dues payments or interest (if financed through DVC) until mid-2005.

Basically, here is what is happening: DVC's point sales are well ahead of the SSR construction schedule. DVC has no more points to sell at SSR which can be used in 2004. The points they are selling now are for buildings that will begin to open in March '05.

In effect, they are either offering you Developer's Points for use in 2004, or they are giving you a flat $10 discount as compensation for not receiving any 2004 points. Developer's Points are points that DVC has acquired itself.

Hope this helps.

Kind of interesting that Disney is valuing points at the same 10.00 per point that is available all day long on the rental board. So does this mean that Disney feels the 'rental' rate should be about $10.00 or are they just offering out points for use at the market rate?

DVC set the Magical Beginnings rate at $10 per point back in 1996 or 1997 when it was first offered. That offering was prior to the Rent/Trade Board on this site. The prevalent rate on our Rent/Trade Board was around $7-8 and has slowly climbed to it's present level the past couple of years.

The rate offered by Disney has nothing to do with "market rate", IMO - nor is it an indication of what they feel the rental rate should be. The rate Disney offers reservations thru CRO would be a much better indication of what they feel the rental rate should be!

We are doing the 130 additional points for the two AP, I think we are going to do pase lll, which I think means that we don't get any points till 2006. There were a couple of different options available. I think we had the option for phase ll. I have not actually done it yet but am going to this week.

We also just planned an impromptu trip to SS Dec. 17th-24th. I am so psyched!! Only downfall is I will be 33 weeks pregnant, hopefully not too tired! Dr. said it was okay, hopefully all will go well.

Another nice thing about adding on my guide told me is that there is not even a credit check as long as you are in good standing w/ current DVC. This helps us as we just opened a new business this year and things are a bit tight. This helped pusuade me along w/ AP's!!
