Good morning
I am currently a DVC owner at AKL... we bought in 08. Our incentive was 160 free points to be used at SSR and 500 VISA card. A good friend of mine is looking into buying into DVC. What resorts can she currently buy into as her home resort. She is not looking into buying resale. I know California is 1 but she isnt interested in California. Are some cheaper than others? I think she is looking at starting with the min. 160 points. Which of the WDW DVC is the cheapest to buy into? Thanks!!:thumbsup2

you can get a better price on so-called "sold out" resorts if you buy resale but you can buy any resort directly (OKW, VWL, BCV...) if you make the guide aware that you specifically want that resort.

AKV or SSR would probably be the cheapest option if they are just happy to be on wdw property. here is a link to current pricing and promotions...they would need to contact a guide to verify that this information is still accurate. (BTW, SSR will probably have the lower annual dues.)

but again, if price is a big issue. i really think they should look at SSR resales. they can probably save $4000-5000.

i should add that although BLT is more expensive up front, the annual dues are among the lowest on property. (and if they really want to stay near the MK and can book 10-11 months in advance...IMO, they really should buy where they want to stay.)

I dont think they care where they stay onsite. THey have stayed at alot of the resorts and are just happy to be down there. They are flexible when they can/cant go as well. They are going down in April on our rented points and staying at BWV and Im strongly encouraging them to do the tour while there. Its difficult to do it over the phone.

I would introduce them to your Guide and bow out. Your Guide has the best information if buying direct. Depending on your State laws, you may get a referral reward.

You say that they don't care where they stay, how do they know for sure? You may think that you are helping but it may bite you in the be-hind.

;) Another good site for her to check out is DVCNews.com. They have current pricing and lots of info on all the resorts. Good luck!!

If your friend wants to buy direct from Disney she should tell them they are looking at buying (then list all resorts) from The Timeshare Store, Inc.® If she tells them that then Disney will make sure they have inventory for all the resorts. :rolleyes1

Also be advised that if your friend wants to buy Grand Californian and she is talking to a Florida guide it is unlikely they will sell them Grand Californinan. The Florida guides who are only licensed in the state of Florida do not get paid a commission if they sell the California property (unless something has changed).

Just an FYI if your friend was a lower min. you can buy a min. of 100 pts now. at some resorts --Animal Kingdom is one.
