We are planning an anniversary dinner at Victoria and Albert's. I understand that the service is more elaborate and that the dinner includes more courses than in the regular dining room. If someone has dined in the regular dining room and the Queen Victoria Room (or the chef's table which has the same menu), is there more food or just more courses with smaller portions? I'm not sure we could manage to eat more food but the extra service and exotic courses would be worth the price. Any experience or opinions greatly appreciated.

I've been to CT several times. I seem to recall that, at least for the entrees, the portions were a little smaller than the main dining room. But then you are pretty much getting all the choices from the MDR.

Also, where MDR is generally 2.5 - 2.75 hours, CT or QVR tend to be about 4.5 hours.

I ate in the Main Dining Room last November, and it was amazing.

I have QVR reservations scheduled for twice more this year. In August for DS and I to celebrate his 18th birthday and in November for DH and I to celebrate his coming home after working in Afghanastan for a year.

For me, when I ate in the MDR last November I upgraded to the wild turbot for my fish course and the kobe beef for my meat course. Once I factored those upgrades into the cost, it seemed to make financial sense to me to book the QVR for my upcoming trips and get those upgrades built in and get four more courses.

I'll be interested to see what others with actual experience in both rooms have to say.

I am wanting to eat here someday. I just read the 40+ page Everything V&A thread. From what I understand from that thread the Kobe beef and other upcharges are still upcharges in the QVR room or CT. But I'm not sure, just wanted to throw that out there just in case.

OP, I recommend reading it. There are some reviews and pictures included. It looks fabulous!

Oh, and again from what I read in the thread it is smaller portions, but more courses for the QVR or CT.

Looking at the menus on V&A's website, there aren't any upcharges listed on the menus for QVR and CT, but there are for the MDR. Hopefully, someone that's eaten there previously can chime in.

We have dined a few times in the QVR when it didn't have that exclusive status; however, we'll be back in several weeks. We would be glad to provide all appropriate info unless some recent diners can answer your inquiry now.

V&A was just recently awarded a AAA 5-Diamond Award, one of only 55 issued in the nation. [Go to the Disney News and Rumors site for the news release. Veterans of V&A will notice a photo of the establishment's two most-respected staffers, "T" and "N."]

All the best. :thumbsup2

We went during our honeymoon. Loved IT! We did the wine parings for each course and I was in complete heaven. Can't wait to do it again for our 5th Anniversary.

Thanks for all the replies.
I did read the entire V&A thread last night - saw it after I posted this question. I think I may do the QV room. For me there are 2 big advantages of the Queen Victoria Room over the regular dining room - 1. No upgrades available. This is a gift to my husband and he would never ask for something more expensive. 2. Easy to share the wine pairing. We will get the same food, since neither of us have allergies or dislike anything. I barely drink but would love to taste the wines.

We dined in the QV room on June 26. We were the only ones in the room so the evening was even more special. It was our 5th V&A dining experience (it would inappropriate and inexact to call it a mere dinner).

To be sure, the food and service were extraordinary; however, the meal (with a single wine pairing) was simply too much to consume. We confess that we just made it to part of the first dessert. And too much wine was left in various glasses.

Alas.

Next time: the main room. We can handle that a bit better.

All the best. :thumbsup2

We've done the MDR, CT and QVR.... loved everyone. You HAVE to pace yourself at the CT or the QVR. The wait staff will usually recommend at some point to take a break and go for a walk. DO IT! Best advice we had. DH and I each had our own wine pairing which slowed things down even more. We were there the longest out of the 3 couples in the Queen Vicky room, and I think that was due to us actually taking a break and the double wine pairing. We also told our server that we would really like to take our time and linger (it was our anniversary and DS was with DG).
I liked the MDR, there's nothing wrong with it. But I too, always did the upcharges (foie gras anyone?) and while the food the in MDR was the right amount, I missed the extras you had at the CT (and now the QVR). If we couldn't get into the QVR or CT, we would without a doubt do the MDR, but I'd be calling back to see about the other two (especially the CT!)
