Good frosty morning, was 35 and brrr when I got out from under the warm covers. I'm procrastinating turning the heat on, it's too early. Going to be sunny and 66 today, but tomorrow when the temp only reaches 55, the heat may go on. I don't want to catch a cold saving a few $ in gas.
Summer called me after dinner. My oldest grandson was driving home from a wedding, swerved to avoid a deer, and ended up in a ditch. A friend was following in another car and they managed to get the car out of the ditch. He drove it home, but by the time he got there it was overheating. Apparently it damaged the radiator and who knows what else under the front end. He wasn't hurt at all, which we are thankful for. Being a brand new car, he has full coverage, but for some reason doesn't want to use it for fear of rising insurance rates. So he's either going to pay for it himself, or they'll total it and he'll have to start all over again.
He couldn't get to work yesterday. so Summer decides she'll drive him to Manassas VA, 2 1/2 hours away. They got 13 miles from the house, and she could smell the same thing she smelled when she took hubby to Ohio. She pulled over, and transmission fluid was spewing all over the road again. The tow truck driver had just gotten to the dealership with grandsons car, and had to turn around and go to get hers. She had them leave it at the garage across the street. They examined it and said it was something about the lines going to the transmission. They're old and one decided to burst. They told her replacing one isn't a good idea, the others are old too, and if 1 new one builds up pressure, it could take out the others. She got the car and drove it home and the same guy who fixed her brakes and ball joints is going to replace them for her. It cost her $172 for the 4 lines and a gallon of transmission fluid.
I told her to have grandson rent a car for the week and get himself to work. He's 25 and has a good paying job as a lineman, but they get sent all over the place for work.
She's also got more health problems. She has a new PCP who is actually paying attention. Dr thinks she has either COPD or emphysema, or possibly lupus and has her scheduled for all kinds of tests this week. Her oxygen level is only 92. The only thing I said to her was 'quit smoking'. If she didn't learn from her father dying because of cigarettes, she's never going to learn. She not only still smokes, but also vapes.
Thanks if you're still following the saga, lol
Off to clean the fridge, take out trash, and make my grocery list.
Have a good day
