Good Sunday morning. They had said we'd have rain all day, now it's rain later in the day, supposed to get to 77. 60 tomorrow and only in the 50's by the end of the week.

I did a lot of cleaning yesterday, so much so that I was too sore and tired to wash the floors so those are first on my list today.

I learned a lesson the hard way. I knew Summer was very low on funds, so I offered to pay for the dog to be put to sleep, knowing how much she was suffering. Not realizing beforehand that she not only wanted her put to sleep, but also cremated and the ashes returned. It's a good thing I was sitting down when the vet called and told me the bill was $298. ($99 for the euthanasia, $198 for the rest). That will never happen again. This is why I bury my cats in my own yard. And Summer hasn't even had the courtesy to say thank you.

Off to get the floors done so I can relax the rest of the day. Might take a walk before the rain comes this afternoon.

Have a good day

I should have thought to warn you about that newer angle.

We have a pet cemetery in my way back area but I do have a larger yard. I was quoted an even higher price for the cremation. I refused and the shot was quick and I took Kittykitty home and buried him. That was the outdoor stray cat that I got attached to in addition to my own menagerie.

My DD's friend, also my egg lady ahs her dog's cremated remains on her mantle, along with her mother's ashes. She was an only child and was devastated by losing both. However, when I visit I avoid looking at the display as I find it just a little creepy.

I am more for spreading ashes in a place that works for parties involved and keeping departed loved ones in my thoughts.

@Judique, how do dogs come up with strange ideas? I don’t know, and hope things get better!

A forecast for rain came up, seemingly out of the blue, so we’ll head out. Next stop Hendersonville, NC. We’ll celebrate Jack’s life at Mass with Joyce tomorrow.

I hope you all have a great day!

Hendersonville, NC which is just north of East Flat Rock.
Friends of my husband, military people, built a log home there in the late 70ties.

We visited them and slept there before it was even full finished. Had the best country breakfast with them before continuing up to Asheville to visit Biltmore. Loved the wood fire and heaps of blankets as it was cold that night.

I can't even remember their names but a nice couple.

Thank you dear Snowysmom. I'm sorry you didn't like the movie either. I did enjoy rewatching We Need a Little Christmas. It's about a grieving single mom and her young son and how God connects them with their neighbor and others who He uses to enable them all to heal and experience some joy. Reminded me of us, our Quacker family that God created and has kept going strong. Merry Sunday love and thanks to all of you 🐥❤️

Good morning. It is 60 here now which is about what it will be all day with rain, some heavy rain coming in. Yesterday I did some walking and housework. I watched a couple of favorite Hallmark Christmas movies. My cold is still lingering with a bit of a cough and congestion. I have salt therapy today which will help alot.

Have a good Monday.

Sorry you’ve been feeling unwell, Snowysmom. I hope that turns around for you soon. 💐

Thank you for the good wishes. Radiation started last week and I had a lot of other appointments, too, was completely exhausted every afternoon! Hopefully this week will be better as I get used to the daily routine and don’t have extra appointments. Had good results from an MRI I had so it was a relief to get good news. I have developed a little swelling in my operative arm so working on that, have to wear a sleeve at night and watch my salt intake, do exercises, etc.

My kids’ birthday was this weekend, we had a nice breakfast with them and the kids yesterday morning before DS had to work a long shift. Saturday night we made a chicken stew (so good) and DD had a friend over her apt and they made haunted gingerbread houses. Leaves and weather are so beautiful right now, I love this time of year. We babysat Saturday morning when DS and his gf had to go to a funeral. Had a fun time with the kids, hung out for a bit at their place for coffee, then ran into grocery store (and let them pick something out) and wound up at a beautiful playground. They’re getting to know us better and now ask if we will come to their games (DS is coaching) and go places with them, etc. And they come to visit us and we make breakfasts and things like that. I taught the girl how to make an egg sandwich when she saw me make one for DS. She’d asked, as she’d never had a fried egg before, but she liked it on the toasted English muffin with a little ketchup and cheese. She’ll also ask for maple brown sugar oatmeal that we have together. (I love Maypo but can’t really find it anymore!) Boy loves fruit! Lol. I wasn’t expecting grandchildren so soon but it’s been a blessing this year.

Wishing everyone a nice, fall week headed into Halloween! 🎃 👻 🐥 🍂

Happy Monday!

Not much going on. We had some strong winds Saturday night and rain all day yesterday so I took some of my Halloween decorations down. I'll try to remember to put them back out after work today.

Have been having car issues for the past 3 weeks. Someone hit my car last month, nothing major, his tire got my front bumper. Took it to a collision center at a local dealership and they said the bumper will need to be replaced. Ten days later they call me and say my car stalled on the way back to the shop, won't start and now I need a new engine. What?! The car drove perfectly fine when I dropped it off. I've been going back and forth with the dealership for almost 2 weeks saying it was their responsibility since it was in their possession. I contacted my insurance company and they said to take it somewhere else for a 2nd opinion. It is running now, just feels like it's going to stall when stopped at a red light or something. Mitchell drove it to my normal mechanic Saturday and told him that. Hopefully he calls today and it's just a minor repair. I swear, I take 1 step forward and I get thrown back 15 steps.

Having 1 job for the past 6 months has been nice but now I need to start looking for a small part time job. I just have to find something that will work with my current work schedule.

Well, back to work. Hope everyone has a great day!

The house is so cute! Our decor is a few Halloween catnip toys. I did buy a huge bag of treats and hid them from myself out of sight in the kitchen as I would take too many. Sweet tooth and diabetes don't meld well.

I like maple and brown sugar oatmeal also. Just bought the 'simple' branded one at Aldi. Considered the huge variety pack at Costco but we don't eat it fast enough, as my usual early breakfast is a small piece of cheese, too much coffee, and a biscotti or other pastry if I have any. Later on some fruit and sometimes some eggs.

This morning I went out to put the organics to the curb and noted more cars than usual next door. Makes me think my friend is getting ready to go. I had a quiet weep and will wait for news. It must be so difficult for this family to go through all this. Then there is the father who is 1 year older and not in the best of health either. I still haven't seen their DD. Tempted to call her but I have to stay out of it as I'm not so close that I should be interfering. The boys have good hearts and I'm 100% sure she is up to date, just not here. Yet. Or maybe she is. I won't ask those questions of a grieving family. All this makes me realize that we must work at love and forgiveness and keeping doors open even when people act badly.

Grandchildren were here for Saturday night. We had to go to Staples and buy a new iphone tablet charger. DD picked up chicken and mashed potatoes at Popeyes - their request. We don't usually buy this. Later she made chocolate chip cookies with them. They say she is best aunt

Update on my friend: her DIL came over a bit ago and let me know she passed between 2-3am this morning as she slept.

RIP Josie.
So sorry about your friend. A good reminder for me I need to get over to see my elderly friend, also. She sent me a nice birthday card last month, I couldn’t believe she remembered. My DD had a patient last week who was nearing death. He told her he was hearing someone calling his name.

She was originally from Massachusetts. If I remember correctly near Fall River/New Bedford area. A lot of her family are still living there. She was a nurse.

Good morning.

@Pea-n-Me -continued prayers
@footballmouse - good luck with your car
@Judique - So sorry about your friend/neighbor
@flyingdumbo127 - Mona, I hope you get your plans finalized so you can go home

Wow, the weather can change on a dime. Yesterday afternoon it was sunny and 80. I took everything off the deck, washed the chairs, cushions, and table. Gave the deck a good first scrubbing, have to do it once more and then put some waterseal on it. Around 4 it started getting windy. By dinnertime it was even windier, had sprinkled just a little bit. I was just going out the door to put the umbrella down when the wind caught it and threw it across the yard and into a lilac bush (tree actually), and put holes in it. By then it was dumping the rain, and I was soaked after prying it out of the bush and taking it apart for the trash. I came in and ordered a new one on Walmart. I think because it was the end of the season, it was half of what I paid for it last summer.
The funny thing is the wind didn't blow the chairs off the deck like it usually does. As soon as the rain started, the winds disappeared. But I just found a couple of big branches down off the maple tree that I have to go pick up, and it broke 2 of my windchimes, just finished fixing them.

It's only going to be 60 today, 67 tomorrow and then in the 50's. I guess it's time to call Dave and have him come and clean the mower deck, and sharper the blades on both mowers. I want the battery out of the new one so it can go downstairs on a charger during the winter.

I just took down all of my good windchimes and my solar lights, Christmas lights go along the front of the porch where those all were anyhow.

Sending good thoughts to all of our missing Quacker family. I do stay in touch with Frog through pm's, but I think fondly of all of the others.

Have a good day

Made a quick grocery run early today as it's raining now and I wanted to get back before it started. Nothing going on later except an online class, so I've got laundry in and will probably do some organizing. Got out for a nice walk yesterday:IMG_2028.jpeg

A few issues w/ some of the websites being out of commission at the office today, but not a complete waste of the day so that's good. Anyone else having any problems? Things like this always give me pause in terms of just how much we depend on technology. Anyways, hope everyone had a nice weekend, we did. Weather was nice, although it sure did get windy late yesterday afternoon & overnight. I think it's still a bit blustery. We got our firewood racks up on the side of the house and our first pallet of wood stacked up and waiting for it to cool off enough for the first fire of the season. Also picked up a pallet of wood pellets for the stove in the basement, so that chore is done. Looks like I can go another week or two w/ the big mowing so hopefully the weekend of Halloween I can do my last big mow and maybe just do the yard one or more times after that.

Judique - sorry to hear about your friend & neighbor passing, how nice so many of her family could be near.

Mona - how goes things? Making any progress in getting outta that place?

Pea - good luck w/ the next week of treatments.

Chicken wings for dinner this evening, a request of my husband, so I think I'll sneak out of here a bit early & go grab them and a RX I have waiting for me at the pharmacy. I have a few roasts in the freezer, I'm thinking of getting one out and making it this weekend. Speaking of the weekend, at this point I don't really have much planned and I'm looking forward to that being the case!

Take care all, have a good week.

And the Summer saga continues. I hadn't heard from her since Saturday, she still hasn't thanked me. Out of the blue I get a text saying they think one of my grandson's totaled his car this weekend (A brand new car only 4 months old), so she was driving him to work after having his car towed. They didn't make it far, and she ended up needing a flat bed tow truck for her truck. She said she would call me after she heard from the shop. I can't pay for whatever it is, she's going to have to find another way to do it. She shouldn't have been trying to drive her son to work 2 1/2 hours away in the first place. He's 25, a good paying job, he could have rented a car.
