 DH is a Marine(you know, once a Marine, always a Marine). We have a local group of old Marines that throw a ball every year and we've gone to a couple...unfortunately weren't able to go the last couple of years but I love them. I've never shared a pic of us before but I love these and felt like I could share...:lovestruc

DH and I are our first ball in '97 at Camp Pendleton, we were newlyweds and our last ball, here locally, in 2018.
Aww...love the photos! SoIL#2 is stationed at Pendleton now (he was stationed there too, before they were in Okinawa, but a different squadron, or whatever they are called.

Don called Summer a little while ago. We hadn't heard from her since the other night. She said she's still in pain and miserable, and still can't get in to the Dr until sometime in Dec. Lily has an ear infection so she was on the way to take her to the Dr. And Gracie has a kidney infection. She had to take her to the Dr yesterday. She just can't win lately --has to play chauffeur to all of them :(
Lots of get better vibes coming their way
Thank you all so very much:hug: Dad is currently at a new dentist that was recommended by his periodontist. He first saw his very kind periodontist who took the care and time to see him today and without charge. Truly God Bless him. I will update when he is home later. Just know, always, how thankful to God I am for His connecting all of us together in His Name as a Quacker family🐥❤️
Glad he found a new dentist, and hope his tooth issue is fixed quickly.
@flyingdumbo127 so happy your Dad got to see a good dentist ! Tom thanks you for his birthday wishes. :cake:

DH and I wear Santa hats here. Tom was mistaken for Santa Clause by a three year old last night. They had a significant meeting. Tom just brought home free coffees, paid for by the three year olds grandfather!🎄
DH had a very long salt and pepper mixed beard for a few years, and with his 'belly moving like a bowlful of jelly', he got called the S word in more than one store! Nowadays, the beard is quite a bit shorter, but is more full (think...frizzy hair in FL on a humid day, haha) with more salt then pepper; he waves hi, deepen his voice a smidge and let's out a quiet "ho", when they stare. It's always fun to watch the kids reactions.
Baby has arrived, I don’t have too many details, but;

Girl…. Eloise Kris… 11:58, Nov.17. This time DD made it to the hospital, but only by a half hour.
Congrats! What a pretty name!

------------------
Nothing going on here. I made bbq beef meatloaf, shingled potatoes, and roasted green beans for lunch (hello fresh); was very good. We had the pork feta meatloaves with roasted veggies last night (the feta in the pork, and the glaze was a marinara mixed with greek dressing; again HF) and it was ok but I don't think we'll get that one again.

Tonight is HF bbq pineapple flatbreads for DH and I, and DS wants a Totinos pizza. He says pineapple doesn't belong on pizza. :confused3 Weirdo.

Woke up to 39 degrees outside (and inside, because we opened the bedroom window yesterday and forgot to close it last night). It'll be in the low 60s today. BRRRRR 🥶:cold: I might need to go make some hot chocolate (with some Smores Baileys.... ☕:drinking1

Have a good day, y'all

I love the name Eloise!!

It reminds me of watching Eloise at Christmastime with DS when he was little. (We even made her pink tree out of gingerbread one year.)

Congrats to all!

@bobbiwoz - what a cute story about Tom being mistaken for Santa! I can just picture the while scene. 💛

Busy day here. Had to get some cleaning done this morning, then take the car for an oil change. While I was there, MIL called needing a favor, so I went there from the car place, and then ran another an errand on the way home.

Thankfully, I don't have to cook tonight, as we have plans with friends.

Back from errands. Went to the liquor store to get some beer and wine for the holidays. The place was packed. I was surprised that early in the day. And lots of vendors giving sample; I only tried a brownie and some red wine.

It's turned into a regular thing where we go out for breakfast and get our first peppermint mochas of the season then hit the grocery store for Thanksgiving specific items the Sunday prior.
Many moons ago, when the kids were little and we played Santa, Jack and I would get a sitter then go to Chi Chi's up in Christiana which was across the parking lot from Toys R Us. We would have a nice dinner with a drink or two then walk to the toy store. Totally sober to drive home and it made shopping much more palatable.
I miss seeing the Mummers Parade in Philly on local TV. If I moved about 20 minutes east or north I could get it.
Me too. We don't get it on tv but I think can find it online.
I might need to go make some hot chocolate (with some Smores Baileys...
Yum! I am looking forward to having one when we go to see the Longwood Christmas display.

:wave:Good afternoon, friends,

I enjoyed reading a bunch of extra shares since this morning, thank you all again and always for all your prayers and care. Dad is doing just fine. I will get to see Terri either this afternoon or tomorrow. Depending on when she does come will determine whether we also are able to do the cookies this time or not. Dad was able to get a premade pie this morning at Ralph's. Our mail amazingly just came! That was quite a surprise. Waiting on one expected package of wipes. All is good on the LA front. 🌼:grouphug:to all.

Good Evening and closer to evening for AuntieMe3,

Terri/Donna update is that I am hoping to see Terri tomorrow which sounded like will work better for her, too. It's going on 5pm here and getting chillier for me. I would prefer not to go outside at this point. Dad did get a premade pumpkin pie at Ralph's this morning which he assured me he would enjoy. This way we can choose whether to bake cookies in the morning to either be our donation and/or with the pie. If we did just the cookies, it will make me happy to know the pie will be a treat for dad.

The small bowl has found a good home! God, as always, worked this out just perfectly. A close friend of mine Deborah from church who I met when we both were (she still is) in the choir at church is close with both of her parents. God reminded me earlier to offer the bowl to her! Her dad's birthday is in December so the bowl will make a perfect birthday and Christmas gift for him. My dad's new bowl surprise should arrive sometime next week. Please keep in prayer this one will work out just fine for him as I believe it will. Yes, I was hoping to get some money back for the small bowl. But it's a blessing extra to me to know it will be used by the dad of a good friend. God willing one day post Covid. Dad can meet Deborah and her daughter and maybe we both can meet her parents. Deborah is the friend who adopted the small potted Christmas tree in January that dad had gotten for us in December. I am keeping in prayer who will adopt our tree yet to be purchased from this year. AuntieMe3, or any others of you, of course, will you be out here in January and want to give a permanent home to a Christmas Tree that God-willing is still healthy in January?

Have a great rest of the evening and sweet dreams to come later tonight, dear friends.

Today was the funeral for my sister’s husband. It was really hard, a little too close to home. I feel a bit selfish but I was thinking about my own situation. Tomorrow is the burial and then Kris has chemo. Another long day.

I think we are going to start decorating for Christmas this coming weekend.
We're going to put up our Christmas stuff on Monday night. We usually do it the day after Thanksgiving but DH and I won't be here this year.
I was hoping to make a Target stop also, but after the crowd and craziness of the first store, I told my friend I didn't need to go unless she wanted to. She also didn't need anything there bad enough to battle the crowds.
Last Saturday I wanted to go to Walmart to get Mack a bed and to look at the children's pajamas. I wanted to get a pair for the GK's for Christmas. The roads were so crowded I ended up at Target.

Don called Summer a little while ago. We hadn't heard from her since the other night. She said she's still in pain and miserable, and still can't get in to the Dr until sometime in Dec. I am asking for 🙏please for my dad. Dental unexpected emergency that he's trying to get taken care of today. He doesn't yet have an appointment. I will update when he does. Thank you with all my heart, always.
I'm glad that he had a good experience with the new dentist!

Beautiful name!
@Breezy_Carol I need to have DH move our treadmill into the house from the garage. I've been trying to start walking more but know I'm going to use the cold as my excuse soon...just like I did the heat in summer. :rolleyes1:laughing:
I bought a new treadmill two years ago and have barely used it. But I keep telling myself that I'm gonna get on it one of these days!
Many moons ago, when the kids were little and we played Santa, Jack and I would get a sitter then go to Chi Chi's up in Christiana which was across the parking lot from Toys R Us.
We would do the same but eat at a Chinese restaurant next door to Toys R Us.

I never got around to making the Creamy Tortellini Soup after asking ya'll for extras suggestions. I began looking at the recipe and knew that I would probably be the only one eating it. Did someone ask for the recipe? Seems like I remember so but I've slept since then.........

We're having our Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday, just the five of us. DH is going to smoke the turkey. DH and I are driving down to Houston to spend a couple of days with DS on Wednesday while his wife comes back up to Fort Worth to work a couple of days. I am so excited to go see him! We've been trying to stay away from people since they asked us to come a couple of days ago. His immune system is shot because of the chemo. Good news is he has finished his chemo pills today. He had thought that he had to take them 21 days but since he tolerated both chemo infusion regimens so well and was able to finish them, he didn't have to take the pills as long.

I know that the cost of medicine has been discussed on here and DS has experienced some issues with his chemo pills. While in the hospital, he took the generic brand of the chemo pills which was $75 a pill and his insurance paid for them. But once he was out of the hospital he had to take the brand name which cost $200 a pill and insurance would not pay for them because of his age. Since this type of leukemia is more of an older person cancer, the insurance said that the pill was not necessary for him. Can you believe that? He is being denied because of his age! His clinical trial was approved by the insurance company but they would not pay for the brand name chemo pill. I don't know why he could not get the generic brand out of the hospital but he just said that he could only take it while there.

It's getting colder here, we may have a dusting of snow on the ground when we get up in the morning. I hope that whatever happens the roads stay clear. DH and I are going to Nebraska Furniture Mart tomorrow in search of a new dryer, hopefully finding one in stock.

Terris is coming tomorrow afternoon which works out perfectly for all of us. I'm so grateful how that worked out :)

Huge:grouphug:dear Kirby! I am so happy and thankful to God that you and your DH will get to see your son. Continuing prayers for him!

Please stay warm everyone and indeed have sweet dreams.

Insurance is ridiculous when it comes to medications. Yes to this one, no to that one. DH had to change insulins because of that. It took forever for his body to adjust. They also made him change the size pen needle he uses for the insulin, and the meter to test on too! We don't pay anything OOP for his diabetes supplies, but still frustrating when something is working, and they change because they get a bigger kickback from another company!

Funny you should mention NFM. DD#1 used to work at there, in Omaha, in their offices. She bought all their furniture there; said she had a great discount...and misses it now that she's gone. LOL

My angry emoji was about the medicine too. That's so unfair!

(I would have liked the rest of your post.)
Same here. I know the feeling she has though. The Trulicity that Don takes costs $250 per injection. Thankfully we have prescription assistance and he gets it for free. We are waiting for the re- enrollment papers now, and I am sure their 'our of pocket' that must be met before they approve it will have gone up from last year. His Anoro went from having to be $400 to $600. Medications are so expensive it's ridiculous

Good COLD Saturday morning--as in it was 20 degrees at 8 am, and we had more snow overnight. This had better not be how our whole winter is going to be. If I wanted cold and snow, I would have stayed in New England!

@dazedx3 :grouphug: 's about the funeral. You have just had too much to deal with lately

Already stripped and remade the bed, have to go swiffer the kitchen floor. I tracked snow in when I went out to feed the cats. Their gravity water bowl was one big frozen block of ice, and I had to bring it in and defrost it.

Nothing else new going on around here.

Have a nice morning

@Kirby Medical insurance is so crazy sometimes. Age should not be an issue. Needing the med is the concern. I hope you can appeal. My DS Kenny goes to bat for patients when their insurance denies a med for whatever reason. Maybe your DS's doctors can help. I am praying for him and your family. My angry emoji was for the medical ins.

@flyingdumbo127 Glad you found a home for the bowl. It sounds like the perfect solution. I hope you have a nice visit with your friend.

I have been out and around since 7. I got a mocha latte for a treat. Then I decided to look at the next town over to see if it could be a candidate for looking for a condo. Chris and I lived there for one year while saving for a house. I did not really like it then and we did not do much there. It has changed quite a bit and I still don't like it. I drove into the town and instantly said, NO. My heart and soul was not into it at all. I am glad I did it so now I know. Then I went to The Paper Store and got some Christmas gifts and bought myself a snow globe with Cardinals in it. It plays Joy to the World. They also had a deal on a lovely red and green plaid throw blanket that I thought would look nice on the new couch I have coming next month. Since I am not putting up any kind of tree I will have the snow globe, a very festive unicorn, and a snowman. I will go to my kids houses to see trees. Then I went to CVS and they had very little Christmas stuff out. I went to Walgreen's and they had alot of candy and other items. I got all the stocking candy I needed as well as gift cards. I just need one more thing for Kenny and I am done. I have also taken one walk so far and cleaned both bathrooms as well as the kitchen. Next up is a bit of work work and then another walk. Tomorrow I am going to Jeff's for a visit. Kenny works this weekend. I will see him Tuesday as I am going there to stay for a few nights.

Kenny and the kids had their Christmas pictures taken a couple of days ago. They are nice but it just seems strange to see just Kenny and the kids. I know that Kenny and ex DDIL are doing what is right for them but it still just seems a bit sad. Thankfully the kids are their top priority and the kids seem to be happy and accepting of having 2 houses.

Have a good Saturday.

Happy Saturday and Good Morning everyone.

Terri will be coming mid-afternoon which works out very well for all of us, extra thankful for that. Dad decided he would prefer some other dessert to the pumpkin pie he bought at Ralph's yesterday. We are going to donate that to Sunday's Thanksgiving meal along with a couple dozen sugar/chocolate chip cookies. I would have preferred making a bigger batch of cookies. I know this is much easier and I do like the added blessing of being able to contribute two different things. All good.

Big extra :grouphug: and prayer, Dazed. Thinking of you!

Same here from me, too, B&B:hug:. It is heartbreaking and very wrong how hard it can be both financially and these days delivery wise as well for people to get needed medication. People should forever come way before a profit! Prayers for your DH and always you, as well.

 extra to you, Lynn. “Out of pocket” determination is also often anything but fair. I also sometimes wonder who determines the amount and on what truly their decision is based. I realize it may be one size fits all. Brr! That sounds plain freezing to me. I would be a snowman packing up for a warmer climate. Stay warm and well, my friend.

ITA with you, Snowysmom! I also feel similarly about health insurance in general. Either it is truly free and equally available to all or it’s not. Hug, so glad you enjoyed a treat. Mocha latte always makes me think of Monica the TBAA Angel played by Roma Downey who when she was called here to earth loved mocha lattes. I truly hope you enjoyed yours. Thank you so much. I am relieved and thankful about the bowl. Always a blessing to get to see Terri. Extra hugs to you, I am so glad you did do that. Your heart will know, my friend. God will forever lead you and you know all of us are praying for and here for you, too. Continuing prayers for Kenny and his kids and for his Ex to be a positive presence to their children.

:wave: to all with love. I will check back in later.

Bumping up from the second page. We have bright sunshine, but it's windy and cold (40). I just got out of a nice, long, hot bath, and am about to start getting dinner ready soon. Rigatoni with sauce and meatballs, and garlic bread. Then to catch up on more shows. I did manage to get through Survivor (glad at who went home), and Amazing Race. We watched the 3 Chicago's last night, but still have the 3 FBI's, an NCIS and a couple of other shows to watch

Have a nice evening all

Good afternoon.

Taking a break from house cleaning. I cleaned all three bathrooms and dusted upstairs. Jack is vacuuming and I will dust downstairs soon.

This morning we drove down to Sarah’s house. She doesn’t have any table cloths for the dining room table yet. It was Jack’s parents table and she got it now that she has room. I lent her one for her housewarming but wanted it for Lamesgiving so I took another and swapped, as well as borrowing 2 crockpots. I know what I am getting her for Christmas.

Got some Tessa, Carter, and Paisley time too.

Stopped at CFA on the way home for lunch. Need to go back out to Bat and Body Works for on sale hand soap.

Good afternoon, made a quick stop to the feed store to pick up some dog food and the farmers market for a few items as well as to place my order for Wednesday morning pick up for Thanksgiving. Cleaned up the basement in anticipation of thanksgiving- pellet stove is in and operational now, and wood stove is out. Straightened up main floor and did a lot of blanket washing since the sun was shining to dry them. Husband is home and there is venison stew on the stove. Think it’s almost cocktail hour and time to soak in the hot tub! My left side hip & lower back have been bugging me, not sure what I did to myself.
