Morning all.

Well, dinner last night was very good, but we ended up having to reheat everything a few hours later. Why, you ask? Because I was chopping cilantro, and my very very very sharp knife ended up going through the top of my left pointer finger. Took a bit of the top and about a third of the nail off. I...didn't scream, but I did make some noise, and DH came running out of his office. Instead of letting me put pressure on it to stop the bleeding, so we could see how bad it was, he kept trying to bandage it; my nail was pretty long, so there was a jagged part that the gauze kept grabbing onto and pulling (which hurt more than the cut).

He got frustrated and yelled for me to get my shoes on so we could go to the ER. Yes, he panicked. So, off to the ER, and by the time I got to triage, 20 mintues after signing in, the bleeding had pretty much stopped. He still insisted I go to be seen; so we waited another 20 minutes, and then I was taken back. There was literally nothing they could do...there is nothing to stitch as it was a clean slice down the finger. The doc didn't even clean it; just put gauze and a bandaid on it, and told me to keep it clean and dry for 48 hours, and to watch for infection. 🤕 I am a little irritated about the whole thing. The ER was pretty busy (next closest one is about 30 minutes away). DH is a big baby when he's sick or hurt, and he gets mad at me for taking things in stride. :rolleyes2:rolleyes2:rolleyes2

Trying to type without my pointer finger is rough, lol. My finger is throbbing a bit on the pad part, and the top is super sore. The nail, can't feel anything. It looks pretty gnarly, though. I washed my hands this morning, and I put a clean gauze and bandaid on, with some neosporin. Also, sadly, I am under doctor's orders to not do any housework this weekend and to not wash dishes or clean bathrooms or cat litter for at least a week. :bored: There goes my cross-stitching for a few weeks,; at least until the pain stops.

Anyways :cheer2:
Penzeys has the $50 GC for $35 again, thru Monday. Buy 3 gift cards, get 1 mini soul box free. Outrage of Love $2 1/2c jar.
Have a good day y'all!

B&B Sorry about your finger. That must be painful and tough. It does help to have doctor's orders not to do housework!

I just did an order on Kohls and got some good deals. I had to finish the grandsons clothing shopping. All set now.

Good morning all. (@Breezy_Carol )--sorry about the mix up in my post yesterday. I meant to put Snowysmom in there, no idea how I got yours instead! Glad you had such a nice getaway, sounds lovely. Thanks for sharing the pictures,,the kids are so darn cute!
@Bianca and Bernard --Sorry about your finger. I know how much a cut like that can bleed, I cut mine once, the first (and last) time I used my new mandolin. You are lucky that your ER only has a 30 minute wait. If that were ours, you could be sitting there for 2 hours or more.

Another beautiful day coming up. So mild last night (almost 60) that I slept with the bedroom windows open. Slept so well. Even with a ceiling fan on , and another sitting on the bureau, I am always too warm.

Today is Don's 69'th birthday. To be honest, with all of his health problems, I am surprised he's still with us. But I thank God every day that he is.

Already stripped the bed and remade it. I have the sheets in the washer now. Took the crabmeat out of the freezer to thaw in cold water for dinner tonite. Just have to figure out what to have with the crabcakes. Got him a small carrot cake for his birthday cake, and a few small gifts.

Have a nice Saturday morning!

Good Morning!

When I saw the Breezy Carol reference about working I had to go back a couple of pages to see what I missed! Lol.

Happy Birthday to Don. party:Glad he’s still here, too!

All this talk of pajamas, funny. We do love our pajamas, don’t we? If and when I find some I love, I stock up, too. Right now in a good place with pajamas. I did find some new underwear I decided to try and they arrived yesterday. I tried them on and was so happy I liked them and they fit well, so I’ll have to order some more. Had an underwear crisis several years back where the ones I always wore were changed somehow, and I wasn’t a happy camper. So I found some others but didn’t like them much. So happy to see how these work out! Lol.

Been busy with work and some project work. Have to run out to the bank before it closes at noon to have some things notarized so I can send them in. Trying to get Mom’s estate closed out but (you won’t believe this) the law firm screwed up the numbers pretty bad. Unfortunately before I noticed it they’d sent out figures to my siblings so it looked like there was twice as much money as there actually is. (One account was listed twice but there were other errors.) I was so pissed I wrote to the partners, but nothing changed. So there is this last thing I am doing and then I have to delve back into the numbers again to get them straight before finalizing. Not what I want to do (when I thought I was done), nor should I have to, And every minute talking to them costs. I want to be finished. 😬 So have to work on that again now.

DH and DS took a class last night, so I made some dinner and brought it over to my elderly friend’s house and we had a four hour visit! Time flies when we visit as we always have so much to talk about. She’s still as sharp as a tack and remembers everything. It was nice to see her. She reminded me a lot of my mother last night - what she was wearing, some of her sayings, and even her nail polish was the same as Mom wore. I told her I am going to help her look around at some assisted living places for the future, because she needs more help than she has. I thought she would say no but she seemed to like the idea. So have some research to do for that this winter.

Have to finish up my coffee and hop in the shower to get this show on the road. I was invited to see some old friends tonight. It‘s tempting, but it involves a long drive. Going to see how the day goes and see if I feel up to it tonight. I also met up with another old friend the other morning so she could meet Grady. We shared a love of German Shepherds so she was really happy to meet him and kept saying how much he looked like her dog (who was friends with two of mine; I was there the day he passed. She’d called me saying he was having trouble breathing and I ran over in my bathrobe just as he was taking his last breaths. I told her to hang up the phone and come over and hold him and tell him how much she loved him, etc. It was a sad moment, and ironically, later the same thing happened to one of my dogs, too). So I guess this is the week to see old friends, which is nice.

Thinking of everyone here, and still praying. 🐥Enjoy the Saturday!

Well, what was supposed to be a beautiful day, has now turned into almost black skies, and the threat of rain. I am hoping it holds off just a little while longer, until my sheets on the line are dry.

Summer is coming over shortly to spend some time with her Dad. Haven't seen her in over a month, so he will love having her here for a little while. She told me yesterday that her oldest son, had taken up golf, and bought a set of clubs at a pawn shop. I told her she should have said something, that he could have had Don's. They haven't been used in forever, and he will never use them again. She messaged me this morning that Skylar said he would love to have them, and will cherish them as something from his Granddad. That made Don so very happy. I brought them up from the cellar so she can take them home to him

Happy Saturday friends,

It's a chilly (for me) 60 here. Next week more 🌧️may come along with 40's at night, brr! Absolutely I give God extra thanks for a warm, safe shelter and bed. I also pray for all His children and animals to have the same and that in some way I might assist with that. Dad and I will contribute to Thanksgiving in the park lunch which a church ministry always does the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I do have at least one long sleeve shirt to donate, and we will probably bake 🍪. I would love to be able to help in person. To me, it is an extra blessing anytime I am able to in a tiny way serve anonymously. I don't want the recognition. All for Him. Late last night, I did get one book package through the mail. Earlier already this morning we got a ton of political junk along with a magazine for dad and a postcard for me that we both enjoyed. It's 3D of animals from a National Park. I thought of all of you who have enjoyed going to Animal Kingdom 🦊🐯🐿️are some of the critters on the card.

That is so sweet, PollyannaMom! It’s so important for kids to have extended loving support which both you and your DS sure provide. Thank you both! Sounds cold out there! I remember Many a foggy day when I lived in Northern, CA. Please be extra careful, my friend, driving through it.

57 is cold enough for me, Snowysmom. Stay warm, my friend. Prayers your 🚗 servicing goes quickly and smoothly.

Big extra :grouphug:, B&B, and how scary! Please take care and be extra kitchen careful!

Happy Birthday to Don, Lynn! I am extra grateful to God that through His grace and mercy you both are at a much healthier place than you were a year ago. Hug, my friend and prayer that the two of you have many more celebrations ahead. Please tell him :bday: from me. I'm very glad to hear Summer is up to a visit!

Pea, I think with the ongoing pandemic, pajamas provide extra comfort and coziness now more than ever. So glad you found some you like. I hear you on needing to change underwear brands. For a few years I had liked Walmart’s Secret Treasure line. They no longer make them. I went back to Hanes. Not the same quality but that they work. I hope your DH and DS enjoyed their class. How cool that they took one together. Prayers for your friend and extra thanks to dear you for the loving support you gift to her🌼

Continued prayers of fun::MickeyMoDisneyMommy Michelle, and safe travels too!

Enjoy the day everyone. I will check back in later. I'm DVRing "A Kindhearted Christmas," an older movie on GAF this afternoon. I'll share how we like it maybe tomorrow :)

Sorry about your finger and I can really appreciate the word 'throbbing' as my right pointer finger is also throbbing as I just managed to slam the van's door on it. The nail has turned purple and it's swollen, but it will bend.

Could be broken but I'm not going to emergency room. I figure they would just make me wear one of those finger stabilizers whether I need one or not. It will just get to join the list of smashed up fingers I have on my right hand. It hurt to high heaven at first. I'm now using it as an excuse not to do yard work right now, but that excuse is only good until tomorrow.

Good afternoon! Thank you for all the well wishes! Rain swept in as usual this afternoon! Lol so we are back at the RV relaxing and getting ready for a late evening!

Thanks for the Old Navy info, they have fun Christmas jammies!!
Our trip starts next Friday. I'm getting excited! Today my (neighbor) friend and I picked up some Disney gift cards so she can load her grandchildren's magic bands with $50 each. She is bringing 5 grandchildren, plus son, daughter and son inlaw. Myself and my other friend are going separately. But we are planning as if we will be together, and we will be for part of the trip. She also wants me to take her to the outlet stores as they are flying in. We only have one park day that starts in the morning together, but we all have hoppers so we should end up in Epcot together also.

Ohhh how fun for you all!!! It is such a fun time to be here, and Epcot is my favorite park for a meetup, so hopefully that works out well for you all!!!

The final week of counting down seems to always drag by, hopefully yours is not too bad!!

Still extremely mild out here. Summer did come over and spent about 2 hours, much longer than we thought she would. And both sons called while she was here, so that made Don's day. Just finished watching Breeders Cup Race. Didn't do so well on 2 out of the 3, but won the other one. Also found out that WDWEPCOT and I love horses and racing, and we messaged back and forth about who we thought would win, and who we wanted to win. Made watching the races more fun for me, as Don doesn't care for horse racing.
Have a nice evening all!

Enjoyed your pictures Carol!

:cake: Happy Birthday to Don! party:

Today was a beautiful day after a stormy one yesterday afternoon and evening. We had the weather on all afternoon watching where the weather roll in. Several tornadoes popped up to the east and northeast of us about an hour away. There was rotation over us but it didn't grow. We didn't even know it was there until it had passed because the weatherman was so focused on the worse weather to the east.

DD's ex's flight was delayed because of the storms. He was a real rear last night and in rare form. He wanted DD to drive the kids to him through the storm because it was too dangerous for him to drive them. :scratchin Then he wanted her to go sit at McDonald's (their meeting place) at 6:00 pm and wait for him to arrive which ended up about 10:30 pm. He was forced to come to our house because it was so late. The kids were already in bed, had to be woken up and dressed. He could have just let them sleep and pick them up early this morning but no, that's not his way. :rolleyes2 And that's just a little bit of what when down last night.

DD went to see one of her best friends that lives a couple of hours away for the weekend. I made breakfast since DD had left. She is our breakfast maker usually.

DH and I bought a new couch, medium grey in color. Our current couch needs some love that we don't want to give so we're getting rid of it. Actually, DD and the kids have worn out the cushions, the spring in them has sprung and you get goosed when you sit down. Before DD and kids moved in, the couch wasn't sat on very often. I have my own chair with an ottoman that I sit in.

DH and I had lunch at Snuffers, we split a cheeseburger and cheese fries. Came home and vacuumed, cleaned the bathroom and two loads of laundry while DH mowed the yard. Even though it rained, you really can't tell it.

Got a text from DS and wife a little while ago. They want me to go with them next week to meet with the doctor in Houston. Said we could discuss it tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a good night and takes advantage of that extra hour!

Sorry you're DS's ex is being such a jerk, @Kirby  I just don't understand people who use their kids as pawns like that.

Nice morning here, mild temps but sooo much less humid. (Yesterday morning, everything was soaked for ages, today I'm already out with one of the cats and it's a lot better.)

We went out for an early dinner with DS and M&FIL last night, and then built a fire in the fire pit. DH and I stayed out for a little while, and then DS had some friends over and we went in.

@Kirby Your DD's ex is such a mean spirited person. I don't mean to be insulting but really, the kids come first. It hurts the kids when he does this stuff that he thinks is just hurting the adults involved. :grouphug: to your DS and your family. I hope you can go with him.

Nice morning here, warm but breezy. It is nice to wake up to light! I will be able to take my early morning walk at least for a while until it gets dark again in the mornings.

My car maintenance went well. The next service is 30,000 miles which is a biggie I guess. The service guy told me it would be $610. I almost passed out. Chris and I bought a service package which included the first 2 years of maintenance at a discount. It was a good deal. Now, that is done. I may see if a local mechanic can do the service for less. Kenny has a good one in his area and I may be living in his area by the time I need the 30,000 mile service. Some places will do the same service as the dealers for alot less. I like this dealer for buying the car and they are honest but dealer prices are crazy.

Off to Trader's Joe's then a quiet day. Kenny is off to Puerto Rico for a few days. Jeff is dealing with older DGS having a stomach bug. I just hope it does not go through the family. So, my weekend is quiet. Chris's birthday is Tuesday so I am baking a one layer cake tomorrow. Then I hope to bring to Jeff's house on Tuesday for his family to enjoy. I will just eat one piece. It is my way of remembering. I also write a card for him for every occasion. Writing helps.

Have a good day.

Good morning. Hard to believe that our temp was 65 degrees at 6 am and has already gone up. I will take this weather anytime! Cats woke up at the usual time this morning,,which means I got up earlier than I planned to.

@Kirby--I agree with Snowysmom and Pollyannamom about your DD's ex. Wow, he really thinks he is entitled doesn't he? So sad that he puts the kids in the middle of it, instead of putting them first. I hear you on the couch situation, ours was getting like yours, when we replaced it. Getting goosed is not fun when you sit down!

@Snowysmom --the last part of your post made me tear up. How sweet that you are making a cake for Chris, and having one piece just to 'remember'. Sending you lots of :grouphug: 's I have to ask--what the heck kind of maintenance costs $610? (no maintenance that we have ever had done cost anywhere near that). That sound ludicrous!!! I too would be looking for a local mechanic to do it!

I had a little argument with your cable company last night. I got our monthly bill in my email and went through the ceiling, finding out they charged us $50 each for 2 service calls. It took me 20 min of waiting for a live chat to ask them what they were trying to pull. It was their defective equipment in both cases. Their new remote they sent us wouldn't work the sound, and after spending 2 hours on calls and chats, that I gave up and told them to send someone. Tech said it was a bad sound button on the new remote, and replaced it with another new one that worked. That's what we pay them so much for every month. Then they tried to charge us for the phone tech. It's not our fault that when they installed their stuff, that they didn't do it right. They tied it into the old Verizon landline wires. They should have just disconnected the Verizon at the box, and taken that line down at the pole. Instead all they did was add a second jack under our desk and wired it to the other jack that Verizon put in. It was their jack that shorted out. The guy agreed with me, and removed both of the charges. I wasn't letting this one go, even if it took me all night, lol1

No plans for the day. Bucs play today, but I am so digusted with their performance so far this season that I don't even care anymore

Going to make ribs, baked potatoes and coleslaw for dinner

Have a nice day all
