Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Glad you had a nice birthday, taz! :goodvibes Where is the Disney outlet?

Taped conversations may be illegal in a court of law, but not in the court of public opinion! Remember when the phone message between Alec Baldwin and his daughter Ireland went viral? (“You’re a thoughtless little pig!”) They’re still playing it today, I just saw it again in a news article about him recently. (If that’s not pot/kettle.)

Lynn, I agree, you should rest your back!

Mona, I’m glad you got to see your friend’s video! She’s cute, and reminds me of my Mom, who was cute like that, also.

I had a patient yesterday who wasn’t so cute and went off on me for about 20 mins. Fun times. 😬 At the same time I got to briefly see a very special patient of mine who had come in for a small problem and he gave me a hug like it was no one’s business - coming and going - and said some things that really made my day. Just what I needed. 😇 He is going to come fishing with my DH and DS when he’s feeling better. He is a walking miracle, and I just knew he would be when he was really sick last year (and I cared for him). He has one of the most amazing spirits I’ve ever met and people like him make what I do all worth it.

@theluckyrabbit That was so nice of you to post the soup recipe, I will try it sometime! I’d had a hankering for some after that thread and DH went by OG to get me some (he’s a keeper!) but they weren’t open yet. I bought some Panera butternut squash soup anyway so I should probably eat that first. I love soup! Thank you!

Frog we really aren’t great chefs or anything. Just regular folk trying to make some quick and easy meals for our family, and I like to take pictures, lol. The simpler, the better. I don’t enjoy following long and complex recipes at all. But I have enjoyed watching people make simple meals on Instagram. When I see something good I send it to DH and we decide whether we want to try it or not. I’ve learned to save the Reels now because we made a few things that we really enjoyed but never saved the directions  so we had to guess how to make them again. But it’s given us a lot of ideas. My DH is a professional baker so dealing with a small few ingredients is nothing for him - he’s used to working with huge amounts of things! That’s why often I do the planning and purchasing and he executes, then we both clean up!

B&B, DD is a fan of that cookie store, as well. I like a little piece sometimes but I find them very rich. She brought DH in to the store to see their operation recently and his head was spinning, lol. They probably have at least three or four times the amount of people working in there than are needed, and they’re all talking and fooling around and taking their time rolling out the cookies, etc. He’s used to doing thousands of products a day with just a handful of people, and very quickly and efficiently. He never thought he’d see the day where they’d get $5 or 6 dollars for a cupcake or cookie, but he’s sort of old school (as was his Dad, also a prof baker). (He’s taught DD a lot, she does cakes and cookies that are really beautiful, too, but these days doesn’t have much time.)

These are from this summer. I liked that lemon one but had to take most of the frosting off and could only eat a couple of bites. She got a kick out of the ‘pop tart’ one (upper left). I think the bottom left one was a Smores. They definitely come up with some interesting flavors, and are a big hit with people! BTW I hope you stay well before your trip! We need to hear about this!

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I am facing a big decision and I am praying for wisdom and clarity about it. Thank you! You are all in my prayers, as well.

Enjoy the rest of the Sunday, all! 🐥

@frog3101, you should really push for your DD14 to be able to speak to the judge, especially if she feels threatened by her dad. Taping his threats and abusive talk would be a good idea if she can manage to do it without his knowledge. I imagine he would take her phone away if he caught her. I know that here in Texas the courts will listen to a child at 12 years old if they feel that harm may come their way.

Speaking of honeymoons, ours was to be in Port Lavaca, TX. We didn't have internet back then for research, just a Rand McNally Travel Guide, and when we arrived for our stay, we found this little town just a small fishing village. So we headed west along the coast until we arrived at Corpus Christi. A much nicer place for a newly married couple to stay in. After a couple of days of fresh seafood and beach time we headed back towards Dallas and stopped in San Antonio, Austin and Waco for little side trips. It was a fun week of exploring.

I had the privilege of taking the GK's to their dad last night. DD had to work till 7:00 pm at a community get together at her school. I took the kids to the assigned place, McDonald's, I got there a little before 6:00 and sat for about 30 minutes in the car. DD had contacted her ex to say that we were there and he said that he was running late but would not give her an ETA for me. His reason was that he had to wait on DD once so I just had to wait. So I took the kids inside for an ice cream cone and to play. They played for awhile and then told me they were hungry and needed a drink. It was 6:45 by then, we had been there for almost an hour. They had only been eating for less then 10 minutes when I get a text from DD at 7:10 saying that he was there. I had seen him drive by and park but wanted to give the kids an opportunity to eat their dinner. I asked her to let him know that the kids were eating and he refused to come in, he wanted them outside right then, he had waited long enough ( had been there less than 5 minutes). I sacked their food up and walked outside with them. He refused to let them take their food with them. He is such a jerk!

I'm so far behind on reading, but the first part of your post gave me joy! I've never heard of Port Lavaca, but have been to Corpus Christi many times as well as to Padre Island National Seashore. One of our favorite things to do was to stop and bring home BBQ as we were driving back from the beach. Chopped BBQ. I can't remember the name of the place we would stop but it was delicious!

Also San Antonio and Austin, plus Dallas a few times each, but never visited Waco.

Then I got to the second part of your post and it made me angry that you have to be involved with someone so uncouth. Just give me 5 minutes with his tail. (That's said for effect, there's nothing I could do to change the damaged person that he is.)

Also reading Frog's posts: I went through part of what each of these mother's are going through, but it was mostly the devastation of the loss of our family unit.

Never once was I subjected to this kind of abuse and neither were my children. Yes, there were disappointments, and they did do some dumb stuff (in my eyes), but it was relatively civil overall.

Please let this end well for both families. It's very early in the process plus children are young so perhaps things can get better.

Get some rest, dear Kirby:hug:🛌 I'm glad you and your DH enjoyed your dinner out. Yuck to the sewer smell. I hope that did not last too long! Enjoy something light and fun on 📺

🙏:grouphug:Pea! How cool that your DH is a professional baker. Did he/you ever try baking the sugar/chocolate chip cookies? ITA on simpler, especially for food. Anything too heavy doesn't sit right with me either. So glad the video of Sue brought you a smile to remember your mom!

:hug:Judique, a visit to a seashore sounds lovely. I hope it was and that you have great memories of your visit.

How are you feeling, Lynn? :grouphug:

Warm afternoon here. I was just able to rewatch Sue's video. Brought me a smile. Thank you, again, so much, Carol!

Thinking of all of you🐣🌸

Hi, all!

Finally home and "done" with the flea market for another year. (There's still some running around tomorrow to donate items that didn't sell, plus straightening up the supply bins for next year, but done for today and no special timeline for tomorrow. 😄 ) My feet are sore, but otherwise I feel good.

So sorry to read about the troubles with exes. ☹️ I've never understood how someone can hate another person more than they love their kids. - Children should not be pawns! Hugs to the moms and grandmas dealing with all this

Any surprises of what sold or what didn’t @PollyannaMom?

Didn't sell the desk that we thought would go right away, but did sell a bunch of VHS tapes.

Didn't sell a pair of roller blades, but did sell a bag of river rocks!

Didn't sell a set of junior golf clubs, but did sell a whole box of cardboard craft/mailing tubes.

That is surprising the desk didn't sell, PollyannaMom! I am surprised about the VHS tapes but do think some people still collect them. Perhaps some libraries/schools and/or care facilities/ use them, too. I do remember when tapes with a clamshell case were sought after both years ago and more recently for collectors.

Happy weekend everyone!!

Loved seeing the video of Sue, wish it was longer. Such a classy lady!

Pea… prayers that the decision you have to make comes with peace and clarity.

It has been raining on and off all day today, so I baked 3 banana breads, 4 zucchini breads, a banana cake, and a zucchini bar. Sent some with DS who moved out this weekend. The rest I am freezing for some upcoming events. I am still trying to get used to our new oven, it definitely runs hotter than our old one.

DH and I, and Dd and fiance, went to see Brandi Carlile this weekend, she is a real talent.

Tomorrow is chemo. Thursday we leave for a long weekend with family to celebrate our oldest GD’s 4th birthday. She said she wants hot dogs and ice cream cake for her celebration.

@frog3101, Texas is a one party consent state meaning it only takes one person to consent to a video. You should probably check to see what your state is. Also, there should be some sort of advance notice for him to give you for the week long stay. He shouldn't be able to just up and say I'm keeping them tonight for a week.

@Pea-n-Me , prayers lifted up.

@PollyannaMom it's always amazing what does/does not sale at rummage sales. Was this a neighborhood sale, flea market or just at your house?

Well, I've gotten through the day with the help of a 3-4 hour nap. Still tired but I feel like I'm more on schedule.

DD's pick up of the kids went without incident in person. He just harassed her all day with texts and threats. An another normal day in our household. Lil Joe asked her mom in the car if she liked his dad. She really didn't know what to say so he kept asking, saying that his dad said that she didn't like him. She finally said that how she and his dad felt about each other had nothing to do with him and that his dad shouldn't involve him in something that didn't concern him. I'm glad they are home.

Was this a neighborhood sale, flea market or just at your house?

It was a flea market run by the Masonic lodge my DH belongs to. It used to be an annual fundraiser, and is just back this year after a covid hiatus. They make money through renting out table to vendors, food concessions, and parking, and also a rummage sale sort of table that anyone can donate to. - A bunch of the wives usually run that table for them. This was my first year in charge of getting them together to price donations, and scheduling/supervising the table coverage. I was very grateful that people were cheerfully willing to help!

What a beautiful picture, Judique! How the 🌕 is cast makes me think of a ⛪ steeple.

:grouphug:Dazed and much prayer for chemo tomorrow to go easily for your DH. Thank you on Sue. She really is one of a kind. Wow you went all out baking 🍞 Smart to long term plan ahead baking-wise. Happy upcoming birthday to your GD. May she enjoy every bite of her 🌭 and ice cream:cake:I remember loving as a kid al ice-cream (no cake part) birthday cakes.

How terrible, Kirby all-around. I am so sorry this situation just gets worse. 🙏Children should NEVER see a parent (or anyone) treat another person let alone a co-parent with anything other than respect and kindness! Just 🐥❤️ to you.

How fun, PollyannaMom. I love that it's a group event. I know you did a fantastic job and that everyone was blessed that you did volunteer for that role:hug: Please enjoy a good night's sleep 🌠

Wishing all of you sweet dreams!

Good morning, all 😺

Back to normal routine - sitting out with one of the cats and checking in on my phone.

I watched a bit of a Hallmark movie while I had my coffee, started the pool filter and vacuum, and now we're listening to the birds and I'm marveling at how many weeds sprouted from the rain we had Friday night!

Good morning--another 90 degree one coming up. I am tired of the heat, and even more tired of the humidity. We did have another surprise downpour in the middle of the afternoon yesterday that lasted about 15 minutes, so I didn't have to water last night.

@PollyannaMom I agree with you on weeds, and grass, having sprouted from all the rain we've gotten. I just mowed on Thursday and the grass needs to be mowed again. But it's going to wait until this humidity goes away.

@Kirby --How does your daughter's ex get away with threatening her? She needs to report it. It's awful how some ex's are treating each other and putting the kids in the middle. What happened to common courtesy and common sense? They are adults for crying out loud!

Off to check the garden, pick more tomatoes, leave some next door for our neighbors. Then I am going to marinate some sirloin steaks for the grill, and make some potato salad.

Have a nice morning,,stay cool!

Good day to you all, hope everyone had a good weekend. We did...in what can only be described as VERY off brand for us, we tossed off our usual Saturday chores and went putzing around, did I bit of shopping and took a turn around a few nurseries (always on the look out for good deals on trees this time of year!), and even when out for lunch. Then we came home and sat in the hot (cold) tub with a cocktail or two and chilled out. Sunday we got up and got our skipped chores done and around 2 we decided to go take a sunday drive on the river, so we took a boat ride and enjoyed the afternoon.

I do think older appliances and furniture often were made much better than their counterparts of today
I'll add to that vehicles, too. The more bells & whistles they have the harder they are to fix. Actually I think that goes for many items. We've become a disposable society in many ways. I'm no tree hugger but the amount of crap we through away vs. the amount of items the average joe used to be able to fix and continue to use and/or pass on to someone else to use has increased greatly.
I am just popping in to ask for extra prayers for my kids.
I hope they had a ok weekend and you are having a good morning after this past weekend.
should’ve just eloped
I highly suspect both my boys will eventually elope. At least the eldest one for sure....there goes my opportunity to FINALLY get some over the top fascinator to wear! I always wanted to have a excuse to wear one!!! I've pretty much decided even if they elope and we have a backyard "congrats for getting married" get together for the families in t-shirts & shorts I'm still wearing one!
When DH got home I had everything ready to go to make a sauce from our garden tomatoes
I am highly considering trying to make tomato paste this evening or tomorrow evening. I've never made it, but hey - nothing ventured, nothing gained.
For whatever reason, just can't keep up here.
Ditto for me.
I saw videos of the tornado in Smith Island. Closer to @easyas123 than me. DD and family were in their camper at camp in Centreville when it went through. Luckily no problems.
Yeah, they have raised a good $100K for the locals so far. It just so happens that there is some major infrastructure work going on on the island (water and wastewater upgrade projects) so I do know there is some equipment on the island that normally wouldn't be there. I've seen a few water spouts in my time, but I've never seen one so ashore and turn into a tornado. It's a real shame, that island is mostly just humble waterman, not high dollar houses & condos. Real people live there, not second homeowners...I'm glad your daughter and her family were tucked away at the camp and safe. Hey! We were anchored just around the corner from the camp yesterday afternoon!
went to Lancaster for the day. Shady Maple for breakfast.
We are going to Lancaster this weekend (I think), will probably spend the night but might just do a day trip, we haven't decided yet. I've been up there several times but never have been to the Shady Maple. Or Miller's or the other one that just closed and the name escapes me. Which one has the big farmers market type place attached? Is it the Shady Maple? Last time we spent the night up there we stayed at the Fulton Steamboat Inn haha! It was kitschy but the bar made a hell of a key lime martini!
I like Jimmy Johns!
Us, too!
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I am facing a big decision and I am praying for wisdom and clarity about it.
Good luck in your decision and I hope it all works out as you'd hope it would
I am surprised about the VHS tapes but do think some people still collect them.
My Mother In-Law does...by the box full. 100's of them. I'm not even sure she still has a VHS player. Never could figure out why -

Starting Operation Clear out the Freezer/Pantry this evening with a bear roast (yuck, no thanks from me) and rice. Not sure what tomorrow will bring in terms of our evening meal.
Welp time to get this day started, at least google how to make tomato paste!
