Great shirt, PollyannaMom! We talked to our cousins earlier to wish them a Happy Anniversary. Steve shared a picture with us of himself dressed up as Captain America today! Hugs to you, always :)

Hug, Pea, pajamas all day sounds comfortable indeed! I hope you get to see your friend. How nice of you to bring her dinner. much prayers continuing for your DD and your sibling's cat, too. Wow! Just read your later post. How scary indeed. Thank God you were right there! That reminds me sadly of my friend Judy. A battery in her old phone a few years ago exploded overnight (not sure if it was charging or not) causing an apartment fire that ended up leading to her moving (a blessing beyond in her situation) but also tragically her beloved cat perishing. Absolutely be careful with anything electronc and don't let it charge or be plugged in overnight!

Love your share, Snowysmom! Extra hug!

Big hug, Dazed and you just please enjoy your strawberries!

Another great shirt, Taz and much prayers and of course a hug for your upcoming cruise to be safe and FUN.

Big Mickey smile, Lynn with a hug. That reminds me that years ago I had an orange-y colored shirt that was very soft (I totally agree much better made than some of the clothes the last time I was at DL before the plague in 2019 that I saw) that had a Mickey head with peace sign on it. One year I had a red shirt with a patriotic heart and snoopy! I'll get a new red, white, and blue some type of shirt God-willing one day when this world is a little safer!

Dad and I did the attached puzzle earlier. it was my first picture taken with my new phone! It came out really clear and light. So pleased. I did send it as a text to dad and then saved it on his phone before plugging in his charger USB end to the computer so for now, that does work. I think what I would need is a USB C to USB? (To be able to plug my phone into the USB port on the desktop)?

I am also so thankful to have gotten to catch up today with three friends, extra one who I have not spoken with in way too long. Early this morning, it was a little cooler so dad and I baked our sugar/chocolate chip cookies (any of you bake these treats yet)? and he was able to, thanks to God's guidance, surprise our friend, Joyce, who works at the laundry mat with them. She was feeling ill so extra blessing to cheer her up.

Wishing all of you a peaceful rest of the day.

@Pea-n-Me I love the picture of the cardinals. We had a male and female at our house every year. I always looked for them. I also saw some blue jays today. I have not seen any in a while so it was nice to see. I know they can case trouble but they are beautiful.

Good morning, everyone 🙂

Nothing really to write about yet, just popping on here while I wait for the coffee to brew. We watched the concert and some of the fireworks on PBS last night, then switched over and watched some of the Macy's fireworks on a different channel.

I was able to see my aunt for a bit (outside, with masks) yesterday as well. She is feeling better, but still being cautious.

Have a great day-after-the-fourth!

Happy Tuesday morning! :sunny:

Last day of work before I get ready for vacation!!!! Hopefully it will go fast. It's supposed to rain today but I think I heard in the evening so I'm going to bust my butt to get home and work in the yard. I was planning on cutting the grass but since we haven't had any rain in a long time, I think it just really needs to be trimmed. Maybe I'll cut the front yard at least.

I'm dragging this morning. Fireworks going off until after 11 p.m. so I couldn't fall asleep because of the noise but worse because of the dogs :dog:. Carly was terrified of all the noise. I kept calling her up on the bed but that didn't last long, she would get down and lay on the floor. Now this is a dog who NEVER lays on the floor so I'm not sure why that made her feel safer. I kept going out on the couch so I could sit with Boomer and then Carly would lay next to me, nearly on my lap. I'm usually asleep by 9:30 on a work night so after 11:00, I was stressing out about not getting a decent night's sleep.

Dazedx3 - Congratulations on your dd's engagement! 💍

PollyannaMom - Those lake pictures are so beautiful, it looks to be such a relaxing place to be. 😊

Decided to fire up the grill yesterday to grill a hamburger for myself. Damn near caught myself on fire. Guess I had the burners turned too high when I pushed the ignite button. I'm horrible on the grill, the boys used to like grilling. I was cleaning the grill racks off and I guess I was doing it too hard but my scraper/cleaner gadget snapped in half 😳. I started laughing because my first thought was "wow, working out is really starting to pay off!". 💪

Used my little pool yesterday. I am so glad I bought that thing, it really does do the job. When I'm sitting out in the sun, I just like to get cooled off when I start getting a little hot.

That's about all that I have, guess I'll get back to work. Have a great day!

Morning all.

Let's see...yesterday, we didn't do much. I did have to pop up to Winn Dixie for some oranges and mint, and to Target to pick up 2 pick up orders of groceries that I forgot to order on Sunday. DH had a craving, so we had Chipotle for lunch; and I made steak salads for dinner. We saw a few fireworks from the back, as we were walking around in the house, but did not make an active effort to go see them. Dh made us some pineapple daiquiris yesterday, complete with little umbrellas, and a couple of the cherries from the $25 jar. 😲 They were worth every penny; even DH, who HATES cherry with a passion, loved them.

All my kids stayed home and watched fireworks from their yards. I'm very glad they did so, after what happened yesterday. :sad1: I am so worried for them, all the time. It seems like everytime I turn around, there's another 'safe spot' gone.

Tonight, we are definitely going meatless, lol; roasted chickpeas w/fried zucchini, tomatoes, couscous, tzatiki, and naan. I have to use the veggie up, lol. I need to get some cleaning done, and wash the bedding. Still waiting on the dishwasher to get repaired; the landlord is on to another company as the first one didn't bother to try to get here for 2 weeks. I really dislike having to hand wash all the dishes. We didn't even have a dishwasher until DD#2 was...jeez, 8, so it's not like it's a new thing...I just don't like it! :snooty: The dishsoap bothers my skin (all types of dishsoap, so I just use Dawn because it works the best that I've found); one of the things I have to deal with with the eczema and psoriasis.

@footballmouse Enjoy your vacation! Yeah, we had fireworks going off until after midnight both Sunday and Monday night. Ugh.
@Snowysmom I'm a believer in signs, and I believe those cardinals are there for you.
@Pea-n-Me I've seen that glaze in the store, but haven't tried it yet. Next time I go, I'll have to get some. We love balsamic glazes on chicken and pork and caprese salads!
@dazedx3 that's a lot of strawberries! Not feeling this year either. I wore black when I went to the store; and if I had remembered on Saturday or Sunday to get what I needed, I would not have gone out at all. DD#2 sent us a photo; the management teams in VIP and guest services all wore black yesterday.

Re chargers: I've had two burnout on me, during the day. I never leave my phone or anything plugged in overnight, and it drives DH nuts. LOL But...when I was a tweenager, I had a cheap old waterbed. I kept smelling a 'fruity' smell, and could never figure out where it was. The bed started losing its heat too. About a month later, we drained the waterbed, as I was moving bedrooms. I discovered the waterbed had a small leak in it. The water drained under the mattress, to the heater pad, and was causing it to 'melt down'. The pad was melted and warped; the cord plastic melted, and there were scorch marks on the wall behind the bed. I was very very lucky there wasn't a fire; sometimes, I'll think what could have happened if it had been a worse leak, or if the old wiring (the house was built in the 1920s) hadn't just stopped working. :scared: So, no more waterbeds (DH had one when we first got together; after it gave me 2 concussions during...um...well, anyways, he got rid of it, and got a real bed) and no more regular chargers left plugged in overnight. We do have a couple of the chargers that you can set stuff on to charge, but I still don't use them overnight; DH does, for his phone and smartwatch.

Let's see...nothing else new with the kids or grandkids. Oh, DD#2 got her Lego badge in Korean! She's learned enough Korean to get someone to a bathroom, the front of the park, or first aid. :woohoo: I told her that she should have it in Khmer, and she says that it's a harder language than Korean...I'm all "you have a husband and in-laws who are fluent in it...you should have picked some of it up in your 8 years together"; or in Spanish, from her 2 years of high school Spanish, and the years she spent hanging around staff at my restaurants, picking up 'kitchen Spanglish'. :rotfl2: DGS#3 turns 6 in a few weeks; I've already sent him his gifts and card. He got the card out of the mailbox and opened it, because he could read his name on the envelope, haha. :rotfl:I got him an electronic drum kit, that he's been talking about for a few months now, and a couple of toys.

Dh and I are going to be evil parents this year. He found a website called jokergreeting.com. (don't go there if you are easily offended, there are a couple of products that are a bit crude.) I ordered a card for DSoILs for their birthdays; then a card for each of their families for Christmas. Once we sign them, we pull the tabs and they are set. They will start playing whatever tune or sound that is in the card when they are next opened...and won't stop. If they tear the cards up to remove the sound chip, they get a big glitter bomb. Yes, horrible, but funny.... A few years ago, we sent the DSoILs some gifts that came sealed in crates; they loved it (mancrates.com).

I've got to get the bedding started washing. Y'all have a good day!

good morning everyone - I'm going to try to catch up, but I'm a bit behind!

Did I wear red, white & blue yesterday? No - not for any political reason, rather we were doing some yard work & finished painting the barn so I was wearing old, paint stained clothes! Only place we went was Lowes (needed more paint) yesterday, didn't really do much. I'm feeling okay during the day hours , you know how it is when you have a cold and you feel a bit under water when you get up and crappy at the end of the day? That is how this Covid is for me this time, nothing at all like last time. Feeling lazy about not being in the office, but I know I'm still possibly contagious so don't want to get anyone sick. I've decided I can't put off some house cleaning. I HATE household chores but I'm going to do some, then I think I'll do some straightening up on the lower patio area and some yard work out by the pond.

Looks like we have chances of T-storms for next few days, hopefully at least one will come to fruition so we get the rain. Otherwise we'll be watering everything. Been pretty lucky with getting enough rain so far this season. Oh! Some of my sunflowers are blooming, the black oil seeds. They aren't that high or big, but might be great for some cut flowers if I get around to getting out there today.

jokergreeting.com

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to check it out. We enjoy a good joke now & then!

No idea about dinner tonight, probably fish. Have a good day -

Good morning, another hot one coming up, but the humidity is down, until until noontime, when they say we will get storms. I will believe them when I actually see rain. None of what they predicted the last 4 days has shown up yet. Garden is doing well, lawn is turning brown. Fireworks weren't too noisy last nite, but it was the neighbor on the other side that lit them up last nite. The ones in town were a lot quieter than usual..and they only lasted about 15 min.
@Bianca and Bernard So many things in your post made me laugh, especially the concussion during ...um , well....lol! And the jokergreeting.com thing,,I have to check that one out. I have a few friends that would get a kick out of them. They would both also be wearing the glitter, lol!
@footballmouse geez to your almost setting yourself on fire with the grill,,be careful!
@Snowysmom - we have 2 sets of cardinals in the yard, along with 2 bluejays. 2 of the cardinals are out at the feeder right now as a matter of fact. I too believe that when you see them, someone you know is thinking about you,,whether here on earth, or up in Heaven, so I am glad Chris is sending you signs.
@flyingdumbo127 --check Amazon for the adapter you need, and next time you need a charge, look their first, $22 is ridiculous for a charger. I myself am not a fan of Best Buy. They gained their 'do not shop at this store' place in my life, a long long time ago, when they wouldn't take back a defective product or replace it,,and then told me they would charge me a restocking fee...I still can't get over that one..why charge a restocking fee on something that doesn't work and can't be resold? LOL!

Off to put laundry in and make grocery list. Don't have to gather trash until tomorrow, as pick up is delayed

Have a nice morning all

Good Morning everyone 🌼

I hope all of you did have a safe and good 4th. I am glad it's over. Not a fireworks fan at all and there were definitely some booms last night. Thankfully not too bad. I'd happily Quacker dog or baby-sit as needed on this evening. I told Barbara Ann I would with her dog.

:hug:PollyannaMom, I'm so glad you got to see your aunt to hear that she's feeling better!

:tigger:Hooray for your vacation soon to come, Footballmouse! Be safe and have fun along with some good R&R. Aw, God Bless Carly! I'm sorry she had a hard night :(

:cheer2:to your DD, B&B and aw Happy upcoming 6th birthday to your grandson! 6 is such a fun age. Yikes to your charger story! That was too close comfort. Thank God, you were okay!

:grouphug:Hug, Easyas, I've been keeping you closer in prayer. Take CARE and feel better!

:hug:Hug and keep cool, Lynn! Yikes, what an awful Best Buy experience! I'm sorry. We've had in many years past some not so good camera experiences with them. This phone so far has been great and one day free shipping couldn't be beat for sure. $22 is ridiculous, ITA and as I told dad yesterday, we don't need to spend that money on something we truly don't need or even want, he agreed. For now, for free, it works just fine for me to send him any pictures from my phone that I want us to see on the computer.

Happy Tuesday (feels timeless today already) all. I'll check in later :)

Thank you for prayers said for my sibling’s cat. She passed peacefully very early this morning, and that was a blessing, as she’d been suffering. Very hard to go through on a holiday weekend when vet support is nearly non-existent.

I was never a fan of Best Buy. I don’t like their return policy, either, and I just don’t feel comfortable there. I do have to get to the Apple store at some point for some help with a few things, but I like going there. The techs I’ve had ask, when there, if there’s “anything else” your phone or iPad needs, and will take care of all of those little issues you’ve been meaning to deal with for a while. For me right now it’s email, and I probably need to explore options for photos. I’ve upped my Cloud storage, but I’d like to see what else I can do. I have a lot, and a lot of videos.

Starting a little work stretch. I hope everyone has a good week! 🐥

If anyone caught the CMT 'Let Freedom Ring' 4'th of July celebration from last nite, what did you think? Mr L isn't a big fan of fireworks displays on tv..but this one had him mesmerized. I loved the whole show from start to finish. It was one of the best fireworks displays I have ever seen (excluding WDW of course). It just seemed never ending. Old Dominion did almost a 1 hour set..and then there was a solid 45 minutes of beautiful fireworks (40,000 lbs of it..took 10 people 11 days to set it up). Along with the orchestra they had, they were very good too. Made us both say 'we need to go to Nashville next year for the 4'th of July." I am going to hold him to that one~ That gives him something to shoot for,,and if he's serious..I am taking him up on it~

SIL in WV had a heck of a storm around 2..we had 2 cracks of thunder and about 10 raindrops..and she only lives 15 min from us. Told her to send some this way..we need it badly!

anyone caught the CMT 'Let Freedom Ring' 4'th of July celebration from last nite,
No, I don’t know if we have that channel, but I was in bed by 8, dead asleep! That NyQuil knocks me on my *** every time!

I just came out w/ the mutts and noticed it was spitting. I hope we get something-anything. We need it, too. I might have to resurrect my patented rain dance 💃

Well, I got a lot done today. Cleaned the kitchen, loaded & unloaded the dishwasher. Did some laundry and cleaned up & swept patio area under porch and hot tub area. Used hedge trimmers and trimmed up under the tree line we got landed to replace the fence and about 10 other trees in the general vicinity. Feel like I got a lot of busy work done that we often don’t have time to get done on weekends.

Dinner will be leftovers- cold fried chicken, bit of potato salad and some crab dip left and we have some salad stuff to use up as well.

@Pea-n-Me Sorry about your sibling's cat. It is so hard to lose a beloved pet.

Thinking of everyone who is not feeling well or dealing with hardships. :grouphug:

It is a bit cool and showery so far today. I did manage to get in 2 walks so far. I heard the cardinal today for a minute or 2 but did not see him or his mate. I also went to the jewelry store to get my ring that Chris bought me sized down. I am surprised I was able to stay focused in the store and not cry. Last time I was there was when Chris bought me the ring. However, I did cry on the way home but at least not in front of anyone. I am glad I am having it done as it is going down one ring size and will definitely fit my finger much better. I was so afraid of losing the ring. I had it sized to my left ring finger as that is where it eventually will go.

My older DS invited me to his house for tonight to have cake with younger DGS for his birthday which is tomorrow. I had to decline as I am so tired today that driving down 495 at rush hour for an hour and then back again is not the best thing for me to do today. His actual birthday is tomorrow so I told DS I want to face time with DGS tomorrow. HIs kiddie birthday party is the 17th. I will be there for that, for a little bit anyway. I feel bad but my gut tells me I am doing the right thing. I even asked younger DS if I was a bad Nana for not going but he said I was not. I have to do what feels right for me. I have not been sleeping well and it is catching up with me.

I had a nice time at younger DS's house yesterday. I played games and hide and seek with the grandkids. We all had fun. I got my real good cookout hot dog and a hamburger. So good! We went out for ice cream too. Baby Sam has his eyes open much more now so it was fun to talk with him and get a little smile from him. He loves to look at the ceiling like he is seeing some wonderful things. I held him for a while and talked to him. Oldest DGD said that Grandpa had not seen Baby Sam. I had to stop myself from saying, yes he has seen Sam as I do believe this. My DS and DDIL have their way of telling the kids about loss so I am not going to confuse the kids.

I think I will try to get another walk in before the rain starts again. I will bring my umbrella.

Have a good evening.

Just jumping on to catch up on the day's posts and say that I am home safe. 😎 (And @Snowysmom, you made the right call about 495 today! Traffic on that stretch was not pretty - rush hour mixed with extended holiday weekenders. I even saw someone just miss a deer!)

In general, my drive back from NY was fine, though. The Thruway wasn't bad at all, and GPS really makes such a difference in my anxiety level. - I actually enjoy driving now. I listened to Jurassic Park on audio book.

I succeeded in teaching Dad & Stepmom how to FaceTime while I was there, so we practiced when I called to let them know I was safely back. They are getting it!

Nope, didn't watch any.

I just talked to my nephew. He lives in South Dakota, and they got hit with a very bad storm. Sky was green. Took out their fence and all their patio stuff. Threw their 500lb grill into the side of their house. His wife and the youngest (dang, his baby is 18 now...)were home and had to shelter. His eldest was at work; they got hit there too. Nephew was on the road (drives for DHL) and was able to find a place to hunker down until it passed.

Waiting to hear from DD#1, as she is in Omaha, and having the same storm system hit today.

We're having bad thunder (one was so loud and unexpected, I jumped and I may or may not have peed a little), and off and on heavy storms in NE FL. We need the rain...we are usually battling it every afternoon in the summer, but I would say it's been mostly at night, and only maybe 2 days a week for the last month.

Good evening. Bust past 2 days.

Longwood Gardens was nice. DH and I stayed from 4pm until 11pm. Monday we went to the 61st family gathering of DDIL's family. They had steamed crabs, a nice pool, and a potluck dinner. We felt very included and knew a lot of the family from this year's vacation, their wedding, and baby shower. Went from there to DD's to watch the Middletown fireworks.

@easyas123, we were in Queenstown. They got their crabs from Hunter's (The Waterman's Wife) in Grasonville and they were Chester River crabs and Sooooooo good.

DD got engaged on Friday
Congratulations!
Did you get a good first impression from your new minister's first day.
I did. I will have to get used to his preaching but he seems like a genuinely nice man. And I think he may bring some life back to the church.
we took a break in the afternoon to go to the lake for a cookout
Beautiful picture.
Are any of you wearing red, white, and blue?
On Sunday I wore blue shorts and a red top. On Monday, blue shorts and my July 4th blouse that is red with white stars. DH got a new Life is Good shirt that has ice cream cones in the shape of an American flag.
until noontime, when they say we will get storms.
We had a good soaking rain this afternoon.
I even asked younger DS if I was a bad Nana for not going but he said I was not.
I an hour drive is not just around the corner. You are allowed to decline, but it was nice to be included.

Worked at church today, grocery shopped, went to yoga, then picked left over crabs for dinner. We have the grands tomorrow so DSIL can work at the house.
