Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

@easyas123, my son-in-law teaches in Appo, and Tessa was accepted into Spanish immersion kindergarten for the fall so they are a step ahead in the choice program for school choice.

I'll tell you, my boys took 4 years of Spanish (it was that or Latin) in high school, but I really wish I'd have sought out and exposed them to a second language much earlier in their life like your granddaughter will be. It seems to make such a difference. I regret not knowing a second language myself as well.

Now I wish I'd ordered our new mattress when we first started talking about it. It's tentatively scheduled for delivery later in May, which is already better that what they initially told us, July! I wish we had done this sooner, once we decided to pull the trigger it was almost like a relief knowing the new mattress was on it's way  And bonus - I can use our old bed upstairs for the other bedroom that is currently sans a bed. Well - assuming I muck out the boxes I stored up there. That room needs a major clean out.

I think a walk after work is in my future, I've been inside all day.

Snowysmom, I'm sure places will start popping up once Spring hits. My son is looking for a house and I told him to be patient, lots of places hit the market in the Spring.
Things are starting to perk up around our area, I noticed a few new For Sale signs on my short drive to work.
I've got a family member w/ that name. Don't hear it to often - well, at least I don't hear it that often. Maybe it's more regional.
DH and I.... :lmao: I was on tippy toes to get my face up there...lol
You guys look great!! :jumping1:

Good afternoon to all.

We have sun today with some wind. Tomorrow and Wednesday look to be nice as well with sun and highs in the upper 30s. Some snow is on track for Thursday.

It's busy week at our house, lots of school activities keeping us hopping. My car doesn't sit long that is for sure.

I too hope Tina is doing well. Also have not seen sweatpea for awhile or Bianca and Bernard and AllisonJoy.

AuntieMe3-Fun pictures and sounds like you are having a good trip.
Lyn-LOVE the dress your niece made. I wish I had an ounce of creativity in me. I can come up with all sorts of ideas, but actually getting them to come to fruition is a different story. I do keep trying though, that really is half the fun...to me anyway.
footballmouse- I hear you on the needing to eat better. I was doing really well and fell "off the wagon" in January and still have not gotten myself back together. I'm ready for the weather to be nice enough to be able to get outside a bit more. Plus, I need to stop buying mini Cadbury chocolate eggs. Those things are my kryptonite. Oy, good thing they are only available during the spring/Easter season.

Have a good afternoon and evening everyone.

You're so right, Frog, about those other Quackers. I also pray they are well. Hug to you, my friend. and good to see you today.

Glad you liked the story, Footballmouse :)

Easyas, small world that you know a Sandro. I had never heard of that name until we met our deliveryman. I just remembered. did you and Carol get to meet up? :)

Have a good afternoon everyone.

We got up to 50 degrees, and it was sunny most of the day. Made a quick trip to the discount grocery store over the PA line for some of their weekly specials. It's a small store, and there must have been 20 people in line. The lady in front of me spent over $400, looked like she was stocking up for Armageddon, lol.
Vacuumed the kitchen floor, washed the rugs, and then Swifferr wet jetted the floor clean
Now I am tired,,dinner is going to be honey battered chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and coleslaw
Have a nice nite all

I meant to say I loved the dress, too, Lynn! She did a fantastic job on it! Those art projects can be so detailed, can’t they?
DD had to do some which were fun, but intense. One was making a movie with stick figures using her phone. Another was a life size cut out of herself turned into a whole black and white art project - took up most of the floor when she had it spread out. Those took a ton of time while she had other work to do with her science courses, but two art courses were required. She enjoyed going to some art museums in Boston with her class (they ran the day’s classes there) and on other college campuses, one was Harvard for the day at one of their museums. (And DS had to go there for the day to their archeology museum I think it was. Who knew!) All of these are so much more interesting than the boring music course I took myself! (Just remembered one of the ‘art’ courses DS took was the history of country music, which he enjoyed. Mine was also a ’history of’ music class but Classical, which I never really could get into. Country or others they offer today would’ve been so much more fun for me. They also have dance.)

I had to have blood drawn yesterday for a doctor’s appt I have today (routine) and was glad to see everything looked really good. Somewhat surprisingly! I also lost a pound so that is also good. (Glad it didn’t go up! 😅) So I’m glad this will be a good appointment. Doctor usually comes into the room with a print out of the labs with things circled and starts off there. So if not good, things go downhill from there, lol. Have been in the hot seat a few times. I’ll be happy to have that over with.

Last night I made a (forget exact name) Mexican pasta dish, it had hamburger, onion, small diced jalepenos, diced fire hot tomatoes, chicken broth, half and half, taco seasoning, Mexican cheese and pasta. I wished I had a dollop of sour cream for serving (and maybe some crushed tortilla chips for the top), but I didn’t think of it. Next time. Served it with asparagus. DS really liked it and is taking some to work for his lunch today. The rest of us thought it was ok. May have more flavor as leftovers. I would also go heavy on the taco seasoning, which I didn’t, as I was afraid it might be salty (which it wasn’t). I’m not a big fan of Mexican anyway, but DD is. Something different.

The other night DH made a Lemon Chicken Orzo soup. Basically a chicken soup (rotisserie chicken) with orzo, spinach, and the zest and juice of two lemons. Strong lemon flavor and delicious! I like the Panera version, especially for work, but can’t seem to find it anymore. This is easy enough to do, though, and would be very freezable. Didn’t get a great picture, but…

Wishing everyone a nice Wednesday! 🐥

...one was Harvard for the day at one of their museums. (And DS had to go there for the day to their archeology museum I think it was. Who knew!)

I remember taking DS to the Harvard Museum of Natural History when he was little and into dinosaurs!

Just remembered one of the ‘art’ courses DS took was the history of country music, which he enjoyed. Mine was also a ’history of’ music class but Classical, which I never really could get into. Country or others they offer today would’ve been so much more fun for me.

DH and I watched a fabulous Ken Burns documentary (8 episodes, I think?) on the history of country music. I highly recommend it if you can find it on streaming or on DVD at the library!

Your recipe pics look delicious, and good luck at your appointment!

Happy Wednesday everyone! :)

My favorite night of the week ... Survivor starts tonight!!!! Yes, I'm a little excited. I've been a fan of this show since it started 22 years ago. Always wanted to be on it but my fear of snakes takes me out of the running :scared:.

It's busy week at our house, lots of school activities keeping us hopping. My car doesn't sit long that is for sure.
footballmouse- I hear you on the needing to eat better. I was doing really well and fell "off the wagon" in January and still have not gotten myself back together. I really miss having busy weeks due to my kid's activities. For me, that was fun running to and from basketball tournaments on the weekends or spending my weekend sitting at a soccer or baseball field. Even running them to practice or helping with homework, I just miss it now that they're grown.

My big downfall on snacking is those damn Dove chocolate individuals that come in a big bag. :sad2: I really try not to buy them but it's hard to walk past them and not grab a bag.

It's been around 46-48 degrees the past couple of days and again today. When I step outside it just feels so cold still. I don't remember needing my gloves at 48 degrees but I'm still wearing them.

Bought a scratch off lottery ticket the other day and won $100! :jumping1: I'll cash it in on Friday and use that money to pay for the pancake breakfast this weekend as the park, of course I'll buy another ticket, maybe I'll get lucky again.

Have a great day! :cutie:

Good morning all. Must have had some freezing rain last nite, as there was slush on the windshield when I took the trash down. It's snowing very lightly now,,temp is 35. Not going to amount to anything thankfully. I just wish I had gotten the fertilizer down on the grass last week, before all the rain and this snow.

I was tired last nite, we watched AGT Xtreme,,for the second and last time..it's just stupid as far as I am concerned. Also watched Bachelor Women Tell All..laughed all the way through it,,even Mr L watched it, lol! I haven't seen the finale yet, but 'it will be the most dramatic ever'..don't they say that every single year? LOL

I can't wait for Survivor tonite either @footballmouse--its one of my favorite shows~

Have a nice morning everyone

Cute picture, AuntieMe3! :)

Carol, I meant to tell you, I loved the children's moment Sunday and also the story of the water bearer! It reminded me of our thread in a way.

For all, the pastor told a story of a water bearer who daily toted two pots of water to the home of his master. One pot perfectly held a full container of water while the second pot only held half the amount because it was cracked on one side. The second pot felt inadequate because of its own perceived imperfections. Finally, after 2 years, the second pot apologized to the water bearer for only being able to carry half the amount of water that it felt it should. It also felt badly thinking he caused trouble for the water bearer for not allowing him to bring back a full container. It felt unneeded and inadequate. Perhaps also like the water bearer would be better off without him because he didn't matter.

One day, this cracked pot apologized yet again to the water bearer as they made their way to the home of the master. The water bearer asked the second pot to pay attention to the flowers they would pass on the way to the house. The pot didn't seem to think anything of the sight until the water bearer asked him if he had noticed that flowers were only planted on one side of the trail--this cracked pot's side and not the other side that the whole pot was toted. The cracked pot didn't get why this was important until his friend the water bearer explained that he had planted the flowers purposely only on the side he carried the cracked pot. Why? So that the cracked pot could daily nurture the flowers with the excess water it couldn't hold.

Waste not want not and more importantly a reminder that each of us was created in love by God Who is LOVE. We each play a role in caring for one another and serve Him by doing so with joy. YOU (reading this right now) my dear Quacker family member, make a difference to ME, to each of us, and to God. You bring joy to this world, and I appreciate you. Never forget either, that no matter what, God is with you and He loves you! That we might extend that grace, His light within us to another who may stop in our thread or in our lives otherwise, is a blessing from Him and one I believe He has given us extra through keeping our Quacker family a Quacker family, where ALL are welcome!

Have a good afternoon everyone :)

I read that as water BEAVER for the first few lines and was very confused :)
But I love the story.

Also, I've been seeing this thread on the front page for months, glad I've finally poked around.

Good morning all-
I hit survivor to DVR myself this evening, this will be the third season I’ve done that but ended up not watching it. Used to watch it religiously so I’m hoping to get back into it.
If you all don’t hear from me again it’s because I died of boredom from sitting through the OSHA 10 hour CERT class for the umpteenth time🤣🤣🤣

DH and I watched a fabulous Ken Burns documentary (8 episodes, I think?) on the history of country music. I highly recommend it if you can find it on streaming or on DVD at the library!
I will have to keep my eye out for that! Thank you! As I was writing I was remembering back to when DS was writing his paper for the course. He chose the song Take Me Home, Country Roads to dissect, and had to play it over and over to describe the instruments that were used, etc. I love that song anyway, but he had chosen it because he felt a connection with it. Later, when he graduated and had no graduation ceremonies due to Covid, I included the song on a video I made for him of his college years, which was fun to do and at least gave him something.

That’s so cute! I honestly had no idea they had museums there!

Good morning.

Dreary and rainy day. I am going nowhere.

Yesterday evening I went to a "Yoga Mind Melt Class: Bringing Balance to Body and Mind". It is taught by a physical therapist I know and respect. I like it and intend to return when it is given once a week.

Tonight I have a Zoom book group meeting to discuss a book I couldn't finish. I tried twice but it wasn't worth the time. I'll be interested to hear what others say.

Yesterday I grocery shopped then cooked chili for dinner and froze three more dinners. Today I will cook spaghetti sauce for dinner and to freeze. Nice to have the freezer stocked.

@Pea-n-Me, your experimenting with recipes makes my meals look boring.

Survivor starts tonight!!!!
I used to watch all the time and will probably watch tonight. I get lost with all the social games about who is in alliance with who. I like the scenery and challenges.

My big downfall on snacking is those damn Dove chocolate individuals
I buy dark chocolate Hershey kisses and find that one of them will sooth my craving.

@footballmouse, congrats on the lottery win.

@SirDuff, glad you stopped in. Please come back. :welcome:

If you all don’t hear from me again it’s because I died of boredom from sitting through the OSHA 10 hour CERT class for the umpteenth time
LOL! One of my good friends was quite high up in MOSHA and wrote THE book on enclosed spaces.

Off to meet DH and shoot pool in the basement.

Good Morning 🐥 and welcome Sir Duff :)

Love your morning picture, Lynn! :)

:hug:Pea and prayers all goes well with your appointment, my friend.

Waiting for Sandro to come this morning. expecting Amazon packages later. Prices sure are going up :( Yesterday an 8 pack of Kleenex Ultra Soft on Amazon (the flat boxes not the cubes) cost $13.99. This morning that same item costs $18.99! FYI Walmart.com usually has a 4 pack of these flat boxes for $5.97 which is the cheaper price per box. The Walmart catch is needing to spend $35 for free shipping. Dad has a free one-week Prime trial for a few more days this week. As I tell dad often, when you see something we may need, right then is the time to get it because the next time it may not be available or may cost more money.

Prayers this Wednesday is bright☀in some way for each of you! I'll check back later.
