Good luck with the house @Snowysmom!

Quiet day here. On-line class at 11:00, load up some donations to drop off, and hopefully get some cleaning done. I really need to come up with a routine for housework, or at least a plan to make it less boring. :rotfl: You'd think I'd get more done being home, but with no steady work schedule to keep me on track this year, it's just too easy to put things off 'til tomorrow.

Good morning all! 54 degrees out now, going to be 75, but with that comes a high wind warning until tomorrow morning. That means our power will be hiccuping most of the day :( At least it will be nice enough to open the windows a little and let fresh air in.

I should clean today, but just don't feel like. With Mr L home all the time, and being retired, I can't stick to my old cleaning schedule, so that kind of went out the window. I need to do some Spring cleaning , but don't know where to start. I did start my rosemary seeds on Saturday, going to start my tomatoes tomorrow. The other herbs all just get started outside in the herb box.

Below is a picture of our beautiful (but quirky) niece. in the amazing hand-crafted she dress made from approximately 2,500 pages from recycled books for her college art class assignment.

Have a nice day everyone

Good Monday morning :flower1:

OMG, so much rain! Thunderstorms during the night and it just keeps pouring. The weekend was wonderful though, high of 76. Didn't get outside in the yard as much as I had hoped but it was so nice to have the weekend off. On Saturday I went to a spring craft show at a local high school with a friend. Bought some homemade wax melts and a candle that smells like Fruit Loops. These candles that this couple makes were just unbelievable. The bigger Fruit Loops candle was made to look like a bowl of cereal. She had a strawberry cheesecake scent that looked like a piece of cheesecake and a mug of beer that had the citranella scent. I think I'm going to order that one once it gets nice out and I sit out back on the deck.

Holderness Family just posted their last Amazing Race recap so will watch that soon. Getting little things done like scan two pictures my brother wanted and email them to him.
How did you like the recap? I thought it was really good, amazing how he can keep up like that.

Watched a movie on Amazon last night, The Tender Bar, with Ben Affleck. It was really good.

Went to Sam's Club after work on Friday. Regretted it all weekend. I bought food like I did before I lost a lot of weight. I'm just so mad at myself for buying it and for spending so much money :headache:. I'll keep some of it for Ds3 but he doesn't eat like he used to either, the rest of it I'll give to Ds2.

That's about it, luckily I'm working from home and don't have to go out in all this rain. Have a great day!

Lynn, that was so nice of you to rescue the fish and give them a home!

Tom and I are getting over a stomach virus. we haven’t felt good all weekend, but I am hungry this morning, and waiting for the oatmeal to cook. I take hunger as a good sign.

When I fed the birds yesterday afternoon, I was surprised at how warm it was out. We missed beautiful weekend weather.

I haven’t been on Disboards that much, and will be reading more of what I have missed. Yesterday we did watch the latest West Side Story on Disney +, which I thought was very good.

DH and I liked that one as well! I even put the soundtrack in my Spotify library.

Yesterday we did watch the latest West Side Story on Disney +, which I thought was very good.

Have seen that one yet, but it's on my list.

Saturday, we watched "King Richard" - about Venus and Serena Williams and how their dad orchestrated their tennis careers. It was also very good.

Lynn, your niece's art project is amazing!!

It is about to rain here, too. :umbrella:

Has anyone seen the documentary about Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz? I am going to try to watch that this week. And I dozed off and missed Outlander last night (first episode of Season 6) but I will watch it tonight or tomorrow night.

One meal we cooked this weekend was very good. It was chicken marinated in Italian dressing for a long time and grilled, with broccoli, and we made garlic smashed potatoes, which are still on my mind. 😝 Small potatoes, boiled. When soft, press down each one using the bottom of a glass, then top each one with mixture of olive oil, fresh chopped garlic and parsley, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and roast. They were really good (if you like garlic) and we’ll be making them more often! I would probably brush them with a little butter, too, next time, just before done.

Tonight we are making Lemon Orzo Chicken Soup. Oh, and we also made the mushroom ravioli dish again and some peanut noodles, which I normally really like. They weren’t my favorite this time (I usually buy them) it might’ve been the noodles. Will have to work on that, lol.

I got to help DD plan her June WDW trip (that she cancelled in January when she was sick) this weekend, too. That was fun. Everything has been very booked up, still (I’ve checked some dates for us, as well), I think from cancellations that were rebooked. I don’t have a strong urge to go this year so we’ll just have to see if any deals come up or I change my mind, lol. I think I’d prefer to concentrate on the house. We have so much to do. :faint: I did buy a book to put all of our home and financial information into for the kids in case anything happens to us, and I started to fill it out. It’s a little sobering but it needs to get done.

Hope everyone has a nice week this week. 🐥 I have some work work to do today.

Good morning.

Currently 67 and going up to 75 before the storms come through and temperatures drop. I have to remember I have a church Zoom meeting tonight.

You'd think I'd get more done being home, but with no steady work schedule to keep me on track this year, it's just too easy to put things off 'til tomorrow.
In this vein, I found that my kids got better grades during marching band season than in the spring. They had to prioritize more.

I can't stick to my old cleaning schedule
Holy crap! How much more can you do?

How did you like the recap?
I liked it very much. They are very interesting to me.

Yesterday we did watch the latest West Side Story on Disney +, which I thought was very good.
I will be watching that sometime. DS even texted me to tell me it was there.

One meal we cooked this weekend was very good.
That plate looks amazing.

Off to do some errands and look at getting a trailer hitch on my CRV to carry the bike rack we have. Hopefully a hike before the storms.

Good morning everyone, hope you all had a great weekend. We went mattress shopping (and today I'll be calling the salesman to pull the trigger) and on Sunday got a fair bit of yard work done, plus laid out our plans for some corn & sunflower planting in three of the fields and roughed out the garden. I'm headed to the post office in a minute to pick up a ton of boxes from Amazon I ordered for work, and then I'm headed out for the afternoon around noon. Got a Dr. appt in the one o'clock hour, followed by a pit stop at Target and then a shop at Costco.

Below is a picture of our beautiful (but quirky) niece. in the amazing hand-crafted she dress made from approximately 2,500 pages from recycled books for her college art class assignment.
How clever! I wish I had a oz of creative ability, but I don't. That dress is neat, hope she can preserve it.
OMG, so much rain!
We were promised rain, I think the bulk of it is coming this evening. But the damn wind is blowing like crazy.
Went to Sam's Club after work on Friday. Regretted it all weekend.
I'm headed to Costco later today. I've been giving myself the silent "don't need everything, there are only 2 of you" speech in my head all morning....all while tossing the cooler in the back of the car earlier this morning "just in case":scared:
Tom and I are getting over a stomach virus. we haven’t felt good all weekend, but I am hungry this morning, and waiting for the oatmeal to cook. I take hunger as a good sign.
Ugh, that draining. I hope you guys are feeling more the thing soon. I agree, hunger is a good sign.
garlic smashed potatoes,
Is there such as thing as to much garlic???? Those look great, I'm going to snitch that idea and have it on Tuesday or Wednesday, already have baby potatoes and I always have garlic on hand!!! Yum.

This made me think of a…

QOTD, pertaining to VEGETABLES AND SEASONINGS: Do you have any that you just do not care for?

I can’t think of too many. Sometimes grilled peppers get to be a little too much for me, I can take them in small amounts. I like just about everything else, and I love onions and garlic. Seasonings, I can take rosemary in just small amounts. I also don’t really like curry.

QOTD, pertaining to VEGETABLES AND SEASONINGS: Do you have any that you just do not care for?

I can't stand dill at all, in terms of seasonings and herbs. As far as vegetables? I'm an admitted bad veggie eater...don't come at me with a cucumber, squash, brussels sprout, asparagus , lima beans, peas, okra and I hate beans. Don't put beans in any of my food, except I can handle lentils in a stew or soup, I pretend it's barley!!!

So WINDY!! I have windows open a bit to get some fresh air and its like a wind tunnel.

And now the settlement on the office has been changed to March 25. Another setback. :headache:

QOTD, pertaining to VEGETABLES AND SEASONINGS: Do you have any that you just do not care for?
Not a fan of a lot of garlic. Also not a fan of cooked beets. Can tolerated roasted in salads. Otherwise, I like my veggies.

I am not a garlic fan at all!
Cilantro, no.
I don’t like Brussel Sprouts.
I do think the chicken and broccoli look delicious! Pea-n-Me!

Good Morning!

Thank you, Carol for the devotional name. I will look it up. Yikes to the wind. I'm sorry there's another settlement delay.

Snowysmom, prayers putting the house up on the market brings you a sense of peace to know that is one major thing done. Prayers continuing also for you to know right new place. God will bring you their indeed.

Lynn, have you ever thought about helping people to create a cleaning/home chore schedule? Seriously you could make some extra money! You are a whirlwind indeed. Just please, please, don't overdo, my friend.

Easyas, glad to hear the weather was good for being out in your yard. I hope your shopping goes well.

PollyannaMom, hug, it is easy, to put not so pleasant tasks off. Thank you for making the donations :)

Footballmouse, when I was very young I loved Froot Loops the cereal. Cheerios were my favorite until I learned of Golden Grahams when I was older but there was something fun about colorful Froot Loops.

Feel better, Bobbiwoz and your DH, too! I am glad to hear you're up to eating a little again. Take care, friend.

Pea, I hope you are able to get to WDW sometime soon. Keeping you and Foottballmouse for all the extra care you both provide to many always. Not a big veggie fan and really don't use seasonings other than a speck of salt in boiling pasta water or in a scrambled egg. Dad is the seasoning person. Chocolate chips "season" the sugar cookies oh so tastily well :D

Dad said Target had nothing this morning. He did get our online order of shampoo. We ordered 4 because last week you got $5 Target gift card with same day pick up on 4. Yesterday, we noticed hair care got an additional 20% off through Target Circle. Dad said a very kind customer service person was able to give him the 20% off plus we will be getting (via email or the Circle App) the $5. I told dad, Target.com makes for safer and easier shopping! We will do that when he gets home later.

It's a little warmer here today. I am wearing my nightshirt as I type now. We also need to call Sparkletts because the cold water (we never use the warm water) pull on our cooler leaks. The tray fills up quickly. Emptied the remainder of the bottle and are using Aquafina. Wednesday will be a regular delivery day. We're hoping someone will be able to bring us a new cooler before then. Minor thing but handy indeed.

Have a good Monday friends.

QOTD Answer:
I'm the veggie person in our house - the only one who likes the less common ones like cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. DS will eat a few other ones, but only really loves broccoli. And DH is somewhere in between.

I used to love Lima beans as a kid, but not so much now. And I liked fried okra when I had it on vacation, but I tried to buy it frozen back here, and found the texture way too slimy.

I adore everything garlic and generally like spicy things, though I'm sure there are a few out there I wouldn't like. I'm just not as familiar with some of them. And I am not one of those people for whom cilantro tastes like soap.

@Pea-n-Me I make those potatoes a lot, but I usually use red potatoes, and I don't press them down with a glass,,just mash them down lightly with my hand..lol

Its raining now..temp is 61,,where they got that we would be 75 is beyond me. So far no wind,,but now we have a warning for strong severe thunderstorms starting around 6. Will have dinner before then, just in case we lose power.

Not much going on. Did a load of laundry, then did a load with the cats beds and blankets. Made a light sweep across both bathrooms and did dishes. Going to take a nap now. For some reason I have lost my voice today, so it's very quiet in here..lol

QOTD-- I love veggies like corn, potatoes, brussel sprouts, cooked cabbage (Mr L will only eat that raw), cauliflower, broccoli. I cannot stand peppers or mushrooms of any kind..and do not like beans. Once in awhile I will eat a couple of teaspoons of baked beans (has to be Bush brand though(. In the summer I will eat fresh yellow beans out of the garden, raw,,but that's about it. I love garlic also. I have so many spices that I can't really pin down the ones I really like or don't like. One I don't like is chili seasoning, because of the peppers of course, lol!

I do not like cauliflower, peas, zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, or turnip. I love roasted broccoli, roasted carrots, green beans, salad, onions, mushrooms, and most others. For seasonings I don't like rosemary or cumin. I find the flavors overpowering. Those garlic potatoes sound really good. No such thing as too much garlic. I like the red potatoes too so I may try garlic and olive oil with those sometime. When I move into my own place I will need to get a stove top grill. I like grilled chicken and grilled veggies.

Lynn Your niece's dress is beautiful She is so talented.

Carol Thank you for the name of the devotional book. I feel like I need to read something spiritual to help get through the day and maybe that will be a good choice. I will take a look.

It is so dreary now after the sun was out while I had to work. I did get my walk in just before it started to sprinkle a bit. No new condos on the market today. I am hoping for some to come on the market this week. I can't hold up a sale of my house too long as it is a contingency that I have bought a place. Emotionally it is best thing for me to go to a home from a home and thankfully the real estate agent understands. I hope buyers do too.

My suppers are usually very grab and go. I keep some soups, burritos, turkey, cheese, and yogurt on hand. Then I can just grab something quick. I cook here once a week so then I know I am getting a supper that I like and is filling. I miss cooking my stuff and am looking forward to that again once I am settled. I can cook a big pot of soup or stew on Sunday and have some during the week and freeze some for later. Plus I can roast my veggies and make my marinated chicken. Those things do not go over well at DS's house. Meals are very hectic and haphazard.

Have a nice evening.

Hi All!

Like everyone else we are stuck in and doing our best. I wanted somewhere that is just for fun talk. It can be recipes we are making, things we are watching/reading, or family driving us crazy. I'm also happy to post a thought question every so often to keep conversation flowing. Feel free to share whatever but PLEASE keep this fun, easy and kind. Agree or not we are in it now.

So about me: I'm Tina and married to my darling Matt. I joined the DIS years and years ago when I was planning my first trip on a delayed honeymoon while my husband was doing his first deployment. It is just us at home and two plants named Herman and Sister. Yeah, we are weird people. I made shredded beef sandwiches in the crockpot last night with asparagus and sweet potato fries. Tonight is quiche and green beans.
We started AJ and the Queen on Netflix last night. I don't have the attention span for binge watching and tend to jump around on shows. I'm currently reading a mystery by Kay Hooper.

I hope some of you join for place of just kindness and sharing respite from all going on. In the end we are in this together.

Tina
All ARE welcome......

No such thing as too much garlic.
Agreed!
All ARE welcome......
Welcome-

rain has finally arrived, and though it’s breezy-the wi d hasn’t been nearly as bad as predicted…though I suppose it could get worse overnight. Still so warm/humid out that heat remains off and bedroom doors open- thinking it will get very chilly overnight as tomorrow not to warm but will probably go to bed w/ doors open.
Costco trip was successful- got what I needed in the wine/booze/beer section. Picked up some lamb chops, Keller butter & half & half, Claritin, AA batteries, laundry and dishwasher soap. Mission accomplished. Also popped into Target for a few items.
managed to miss most of the traffic and home by 4:45, in time to enjoy some rain on the porch while dinner cooked.
