@dazedx3 Hope things get better.

We are almost completely moved in, after 4 days, lol. I have one load left to pick up at the apartment, mostly cleaners and cleaning tools; which are staying until I get done cleaning. DS and I are taking DH to work tomorrow, and going to clean. Also have to stop at UPS to drop off the ATT equipment (we received new upgraded equipment, but have to ship the old stuff back), and to return some orders to Amazon. I'm hoping to stop in at Trader Joe's right before I have to pick DH up, so I can get some things for the week. We have to get as much cleaning done tomorrow as we can, at least for the stuff I need DS to do (like clean his walls and doors, get the lower cabinets and baseboards) because he is flying to CA on Friday, to go stay with DD#2 for a little while. Anyways, if we don't get done tomorrow, DH and I will go back this weekend to finish up. The only thing we don't have to do is clean the carpets, because the complex charges $65 to clean them, which is much much cheaper than any carpet cleaning company (and yes, they have to be done by a professional, sadly; otherwise, I'd do them myself).

The new place has some hits and misses. We discovered, when we arrived on the 3rd, that there is an ant infestation under the house. Big red-and-black carpenter type ants. So, we asked the LL company to pay for pest control, because the ants moved in before we did. Also, the outlets on the kitchen island are not working (but all the other ones do); it seems the rehab contractor put in the gfi outlets incorrectly at all the houses they did, which caused the outlets to not work. Those should be fixed Wednesday because the repair guys are busy today and tomorrow. And the worst of all....whoever installed the brand new heating and a/c system did a very very very very very bad job. They didn't do some welding, so all the freon just went bye bye out a hole; and they broke some installation pipe, so I have no a/c and no heat (had to shut it all off, just in case, so it doesn't get damaged any further). We had someone come look at it Friday, when we had no a/c on Thursday/Friday, which is when they discovered all the problems, but they have to get the parts to fix it and get the ok for the extra costs from the LL. I have to call on that tomorrow, because it was HOT on Thurs/Fri, but COLD Sat/Sun/Today... Other than the stove not being plugged in, and the fridge needing a new water filter, and the fact DH snapped the sliding glass door handle in two, the house is ok. It's much bigger, and it's quieter, so woohoo.

Just waiting on Doordash to deliver tonight's dinner (Buffalo Wild Wings), making this the 5th night in a row that we've eaten out, because my pans are still packed. I can't figure out which box I put them in, LOL...I thought I labeled them all, with all the contents, but I guess not. So, it's been Panda Express, Marco's Pizza (new to us, was...ok), El Agave Azul (we love their food truck, and are so happy we can order from the restaurant now), First Watch for breakfast Sunday (oooooooooooo Lemon ricotta pancakes) and Five Guys. It's such a hardship, not being able to cook this week, hahahah.

Y'all have a good evening!
So sorry to read about the problems with your new place.

Good morning all..same weather here as SnowysMom has. Supposed to start warming up for the next 4 days, up to the 50's. Then a high of 33 on Super Bowl Sunday. Wish weather would lose it's grip and Spring start moving in!

Watched more Olympics last nite,,we are getting behind on those also. Wish it wasn't on all day and all nite, Mr L wants to watch almost everything. I am getting tired of seeing hockey, speed skating, and moguls. Going to watch last nite's Mens skating in a little while. Also have to gather trash for tomorrow and make a grocery list. My 'to do ' list says I have to clean and put WD40 on all the ceiling fans (8 in this house) and I will empty and disinfect and refill all 3 humidifiers. Might wash the kitchen and bathroom floors, might not, lol!

@dazedx3--Sorry to hear about all the new house issues. Hopefully the LL will take care of all of it, and soon!

10:30 update--whole house vacuumed, living room and dining room dusted before that. All fans clean, all humidifiers clean, disinfected and put back together. Kitchen and bathroom floors washed, rugs washed and dried. Trash gathered, litterboxes changed out for fresh ones, and now I am sitting and having a blueberry muffin and a small glass of chocolate milk. Mr L is sound asleep in his chair, if he didn' stay up half the nite watching Olympics he might stay awake during the day!

Have a nice day ~~

Happy Tuesday! :sunny:

Supposed to be sunny today and in the 40's. I'll take it!

Sunday while I was at work one of the techs just looked and felt horrible. We all kept telling her to go home but she wouldn't go b/c that would leave only 1 tech and she was worried that the girl in labor would need a c-section. Sure enough they called a c-section at 4:00 and she ended up leaving at 4:10 before they moved back to the OR. Our charge nurse did a quick COVID swab on her before she left and wouldn't you know, she tested positive :scared:. I worked with her all weekend, I better not get sick.

Watched most of the Olympics yesterday and last night but once again, fell asleep before the stuff that I wanted to see was on :headache:.

Today is Ds2's 23rd birthday :bday:, we're going to dinner on Saturday, hopefully his gift arrives by then.

Not much else going on. Just turned 8:00 so I should start working before everyone starts getting here . Have a great day! :dogdance:

I gotta be honest. It's never occurred to me to put WD40 on my fans....I mean, if they were squeaking then I would, but not preventatively. Does it help them work better?

Happy b'day to him!

Not much going on here this morning, same old same old.

I do it everytime I clean. We have been in this house for 18 years, and never had to replace a fan. We did add one to the front porch outside and I cleaned that one too. I always take the globes off, wash and dry them, dust the lightbulbs if they need them, and spray WD40 onto the 'spindle things' up inside the fan. I have never had one squeak or stop working (and this better not jinx me, lol) so I just keep doing it. I think it seems to help them work better, but who knows,,that could just be me.

Here I am, home, not in WDW, because I didn’t fall on Friday, but I came down hard on my cane so I wouldn’t fall that I stunned my shoulder. So, I did go to Hilton Head’s hospital, and x-rays showed no fracture, its a bad sprain. On Saturday we headed North to NJ instead of South to FL and our plans for the week.

Disappointed, and very early this morning couldn’t go back to sleep due to worry about future, in spite of my good intentions. So, I have been up since 5.

Things look better in daylight, for me at least, and I’m determined to do what I need to get better. I know to trust and not worry. I made chili and cornbread and began again my lower body exercise routine.

I think about all of you, and keep you in my prayers as well.

:grouphug:Bobbiwoz, I'm so sorry! :( You please take care and I also hope your plans can be rescheduled and include some additional fun, too!

Lynn, you really are an energizer bunny and amaze me with all you do! More than that, my friend, of course, you are full of kind cheer and care.

Happy Birthday to your DS, Footballmouse.

It is lovely to not be at all cold this morning! :cheer2:Dad just left for some errands including getting his car washed 🚗 Wipes are the latest hard to find item here as in the flat packages sold at the 99 Cent Only Store that we like. We are hoping the Dollar Tree will have a bunch of their brand of Aquarelle Wipes for $1.25 each instead of $1.99 (different brand) at 99. He's also going to use his extra 5% Target Circle Birthday offer. Reminder to all of you to be sure and add your birthday to your Target Circle account.

🌸Have a good Tuesday, friends.

@bobbiwoz--feel better soon!
Thanks, when I can move my shoulder enough to drive an EVC, I will let you all know! I was supposed to meet a fellow Disboards person tonight at Festival of the Arts, and not being there got to me. I am missing out visiting friends from Ohio whom we haven’t seen since COVID-19. They are snowbirds living in Punta Gorda, and I was so looking forward to seeing them too.

OK, I made chili and cornbread, and we eat our main meal at lunchtime, that‘s comfort food for me. Plus there’s enough for a meal to take to church for someone who needs it.

Sorry you missed out on your WDW trip, @bobbiwoz! :sad1: That is heartbreaking. Walking on icy surfaces is never easy, but I wonder if maybe a walker might be better in those circumstances, one with rubber bottoms. Mom and I (and even DH’s family and FIL) had a lot of discussions about cane vs walker. Mom refused even a cane, so there’s that. But by the time she agreed to finally use one, that ship had sailed and she really needed a walker. We got two types for her but she liked the old style silver one. At least she used it at that point. Not sure where you’re at but having one for certain circumstances might make sense?

^ Hi, it wasn’t icy, it was just dark, and going down a small incline. I have and have used a walker and rollator at different times in my life. It may be that I will need to use one, and I will also try to get some more pt for balance issues.

Also glad you have a rollator and walker already, Bobbiwoz. I remember my grandma didn't much like to use her walker but it was most helpful to her for balance issues. My friend Shirley has a purple walker that she sometimes puts a couple stickers on to brighten it up :)

Dad found a ton of wipes this morning! We're very thankful for that indeed and more so, of course, that he's now safely home.

Wishing all of you a good rest of the afternoon :)

Good afternoon.

Did my shift at church then went and had a COVID test just because, and we are having lunch we DS and DDIL Thursday. No wait at all at the testing site.

All this talk of assistive devices, our house looks like a medical supply store. I have a walker, rollator, 2 wheelchairs, commode chair, transfer shower bench, transfer board, and canes. I just hoarded stuff from my parents and in-laws and years of doing home care. I lend to friends and church members as needed.

Today is Ds2's 23rd birthday
Happy Birthday!🎂

Me either. The fan in our bedroom has been there 33+ years and still works. We clean it occasionally.

Here I am, home, not in WDW,
😥

Turkey burgers for dinner. I have to make them and will make enough to freeze for 3 more meals.

We just made this for dinner. I would recommend it if you like mushrooms. Very yummy, and overall, pretty quick and easy. Mushroom raviolis (usually found in fresh pasta section of supermarket) with creamy mushroom ravioli sauce (onions, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, and Parmesan cheese).
