Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning! I have to laugh, after I said how I wouldn't be watching the olympics much, I watched curling last night and watching womens's hockey this morning :rotfl2:

Not doing too much today( heck, I don't do too much any day) We are going to my sister's for dinner tonight, our other sister is coming for a few days. I will be making a Brussels Sprout dish to take. Wow, Brussels sprouts were so expensive, it cost over $6.50 for 1 1/2 pds. Grocery shopping is really frustrating lately. Although I don't think we have had as many shortages as many of you. The only thing I have noticed quite a bit, is the tubes of rolls etc.

I finally googled my confusion on groundhogs and gophers.

The takeaway is I have groundhogs and gophers are much smaller. My groundhog is bigger than my outdoor cat and a bit smaller than my Yorkie.

I've been alternating calling it a gopher/woodchuck/groundhog for many years, probably since I moved here or maybe since it moved to my property when my neighbor took down his old shed.

Good to have this finally clarified. Not that I spent much time worrying about it.

The rain finally melted the snow off my deck. Now hope it dries up tomorrow night before the temp drops or it will be a skating rink. Maybe I'll throw down an old tarp between the door and the stairs so I can get across it safely on Saturday morning. The Trex is really slippery at times just wet let alone icy. I could always go out my front door to feed the birds but I'll be wearing my robe. Backyard is very private.

I also learned yesterday that they are called "whistle-pigs" in some places. I looked it up and found more info:

Groundhogs are also variously referred to as woodchucks, whistle-pigs, or land-beavers. The name whistle-pig comes from the fact that, when alarmed, a groundhog will emit a high-pitched whistle as a warning to the rest of his or her colony. The name woodchuck has nothing to do with wood. Or chucking. It is derived from the Algonquian name for the critters, wuchak.

Waving good morning quickly from here.

Good moving prayers B&B! a move is never easy and I can only imagine the added challenges now during the plague.

Snowysmom, extra love, and please know always you are daily in my prayers.

Tomorrow is dad's birthday. Wow. Seems like all of a sudden it's here. I need to finish up his surprise and do some on it while he's out of the house right now (laundry). I will stop back later. I thank you all so much for your loving encouragement and contributions of puzzles to this. Dad will be reminded tomorrow of the blessing from God that is my Quacker family. Much love to each of you and please stay warm! Have a great Thursday, too :)

So sorry about the doggy, Taz!

B&B Will be happy to finally see you settled in your new place!

Flyingdumbo, so glad your project went so well for your Dad!

Have to work again and drive in current storm, but fortunately can hunker down for the weekend. Done with winter.

DH’s appt went well yesterday. Has another follow up in three months and if things are good, it will be yearly. If not, they talk about next steps. He treated me to a nice breakfast afterward. Toto got most of the bacon.

Good afternoon.

Raining and 44. Just yucky.

Yesterday we did buy a pool table. Delivery is 2/22. It goes to the basement that has cement floors. I wanted to put an area rug under it. Once it is assembled, it can only be moved by the professionals so we need to have the rug before it arrives. Ordered one on WayFair this morning.

After the purchase, we went to Box Hill Pizzeria. DH had hot turkey sandwich and I had pizza. Both were very good. Came home and watched Amazing Race. I was sad to see the losers go but not surprised. The boys were annoying me last night.

Today, besides ordering the rug, we measured in the basement and taped off where the pool table will go so I could visualize how large the rug needed to be. Also made black bean soup for lunch and to freeze, and put together meatloaf to put in the oven for dinner.

@easyas123, you made me envious.

@Snowysmom, one of our former pastors posted this and it made me think of you. And anyone else going through hard times.

Just a quick post to share some great news. My granddaughter was accepted to the local Community College. I really urged her to consider it for financial reasons and colleges all require the same basic courses for 2 years. This gives her a chance to get great grades in smaller classroom settings. I am so proud of the young woman she is becoming.

Good afternoon.

Raining and 44. Just yucky.

Raining here and 45..feels colder. Sure glad this is rain and not snow or sleet, cause it's coming down pretty hard here. I just put the outside cats food inside the woodshed, they were standing in the rain by the back door waiting for me..followed me straight to the shed to have their dinner..lol

I like the boys and I like Kim and Penn. I actually shed a few tears at the boys story last nite. I was so afraid they were going to come in last after taking so darn long at the cheese making detour. I was happy to see who did come in last. He was so irritating. He picked on her when she was slow, made fun of her when she had to hike up that big hill..yet there he was complaining..the water was cold...his size 15 feet couldn't handle the down hills,, he was uncomfortable in his wet suit..boo hoo, suck it it up and play the game!~

Just a quick pop in to say hi. The sun has finally decided to come out for a bit today. What a difference it makes. We were fortunate to miss this last round of crazy weather.

Really a nice poem Carol.

Flyingdumbo, can't wait to hear about your dads reaction to his gift.

Taz-congrats to your granddaughter! I have always thought Community College first or even only is a great choice. I wish it hand't been looked upon as "lesser" when I was trying to decide what to do with my life, could have saved a good chunk of change and probably been much better equipped to head off to a larger school after a year or two.

pea - be safe and thank you again for all you do to help your patients and their families.

Carol That poem is really very nice and comforting. Thank you for posting it.

Tazdev Congrats to your granddaughter. She is being very rational and looking towards her future.

I was able to walk today with just a little drizzle. It is 46 now. But, the temp will fall and the ice is supposed to come in tomorrow. On the weather map our area and the area where my house is located is all pink meaning icy mix. I just hope it is not alot and we keep power. Older DS has to go to work but he should go early enough that it is still rain and when he comes home in the early evening the roads should be treated. Younger DS can work from home as I do.

If you are in the path of the storm stay safe and warm.

Thanks everyone. My mom of course looked down on the news. Community Colleges are beneath her. I went to the same one as Crystal will attend when I was a bit older. I was quite happy with the education I received. This will give her a start and save so much money. I priced the difference between CCP and Temple University and for the same 1st two years of basic courses she will save at least $30,000. That just makes sense financially. She has a good head on her shoulders, she will save money and she can take the time to decide her future. I am one very proud grandmother right now.

Congratulations!

It's a balmy 23 degrees here with a wind chill of 12. We'll wake up to a little lower temp of 20. We'll drop down to 18 by Saturday morning but expect sunshine and highs of 39 that afternoon. There have been some power outages but not as widespread of course as last year. I talked to my niece in San Antonio and they have been as cold as we have been. Their power came back on after 12 hours of none right before I called. Here's a picture from last night about 11:30 pm of one of our Crepe Myrtles near the end of the driveway.

Did some work in the office trying not to let it get away from me. DH would not put a truck out on the road, they are staying home tomorrow too. It's too dangerous with all the ice.

We've lost two limbs in our Live Oak. Hoping that no more will break.

Dinner tonight was Wendy's Chili.

Good rainy morning. Rain, nothing but rain, and quite a bit of it. Temp is 38, so at least it's staying just plain rain. My SIL has to go to Morgantown again today with niece, and it's freezing rain there :(

Watched some Curling and the Figure Skating Team thing last nite, Mr L put the opening ceremony on earlier,,but I have it set to tape on the replay tonite. I do not want to be sitting for 3-4 hours this morning watching it. Tonite I can FF through the commercials, lol!

Have a nice day all,,stay safe if you are in the freezing rain or snow zones!
