Have any of you stayed at hotel and left the car while you traveled or used off site parking? I am really conflicted as to what I should do.

Once I checked a site like "parking panda" (or another parking site) and saw that one of the airport hotels had their property listed for airport parking - no stay required - and we were able to use their airport shuttle. They may also have had this info on their hotel website. I can't remember which way I booked but I'm sure I used a parking website to find it.

The other option could be uber/lyft? We have ordered the extra large to fit 4 adults and our luggage and that has worked well and been a similar cost to paying for parking - especially for a longer trip.

Good morning :flower1:

Working from home today. I think during my lunch I'm going to run out and cut my grass. I told ds last night that he better getting the edging done when he gets home from work today.

Going to try to bake salmon tonight for dinner. I've never made it before but I'll give it a try. My ds and myself really like salmon so I figured I should probably learn how to cook it since it's a good, healthy choice for dinners.

I have the trip to Disney in a couple of months and I have hit a transportation issue. My mom can get us to the airport but there is no one available to pick us up.
I would probably just drive to the airport when you leave and leave the car at car park place. I've done this before and never had a problem. I think this would be the easiest and you wouldn't have to rely on anyone.

Have a good day everyone :sunny:

Good muggy morning all. Its 66 and the humidity is 93%, no wonder its hard to breath out there. Calling for upper 70's, low 80's, so it should be a good day for the neighbors kid to cut my grass. I have a haircut appt early this afternoon and I cannot wait. Not to have to tie it up on my head like Pebbles Flintstone tonite will be such a relief
That is the only thing on my to do list today. I really overdid it on my back yesterday and am trying to take it easy today

When we flew to FL, we just left our car in the airport parking lot for the week. Never had a problem with

Have a nice day all

:thumbsup2 Go for it!

I make it sometimes when it's just DH and I (DS isn't fond of it) and it's easier than you'd think. I love salmon!

Came across "This or That" quiz while looking for something else, and though it might make a fun QOTD:

1. Dog or Cat?

2. Netflix or YouTube?

3. Phone Call or Text?

4. Toast or Eggs?

5. Cardio or Weights?

1. Dog or Cat? - I do love other people's dogs, but I'm definitely a cat person.

2. Netflix or YouTube? - I definitely use both, but lately I've been binge-watching a Netflix show.

3. Phone Call or Text? - I love texting because I have time to think before responding.

4. Toast or Eggs? - I actually like both, but if I had to choose, toast.

5. Cardio or Weights? - My exercise right now is walking on the treadmill, so cardio.

Came across "This or That" quiz while looking for something else, and though it might make a fun QOTD:

1. Dog or Cat? Cats only! Have only ever owned 1 dog in my life.

2. Netflix or YouTube? Neither

3. Phone Call or Text? Depends on who the person is

4. Toast or Eggs? I like eggs ON toast, lol!

5. Cardio or Weights? Walking, so cardio

One evening this week, we took a walk on the beach with someone close to us who recently lost a spouse. It was that beautiful time of day shortly before sunset. And when I looked up, the clouds right in front of us had a big opening in exactly the shape of a heart. I waited too long to take a picture and the clouds moved a little, so it didn’t come out in the photo looking like the heart that we saw. But we all saw it and it was beautiful. I like clouds, too. Thanks for reminding me.

@taz, we park at the airport. We like to keep it simple and not depend on anyone else. I also try hard to avoid worry when I go away as it seems that that’s what I need a break from the most. We had a LOT of grandparents who were regulars at games over the years, and in some cases more rabid fans than anyone. I remember at the HS Senior Day when DS was a junior. One grandma was so mad the coach had taken her senior grandson out in the last inning, she started yelling and swearing, then stormed off! 😳

We had a nice trip to WDW last week. Very relaxing. Mainly did outdoor things, except for one birthday meal at Ohana, and we were seated away from others. Wound up adding two days on to the trip. Food and Wine was good, had an overcast day with slight rain at times, which was wonderful. Literally just took our time meandering around a relatively empty World Showcase. No one wanted to be anywhere in particular at any certain time, etc. Many of our last several trips to WS have seemed rushed, so this was perfect. Wound up staying all day, and when we were leaving, rides were walk on, so we did a few - Soarin, Land, Nemo, Earth, etc. Wouldn’t have really missed them if we didn’t, but it was a nice way to end the day. My impromptu birthday meal was on the Boardwalk where we got a pizza, some cupcakes, and toasted with wine coolers to our 20th year of making Disney memories. We would’ve gone to All Star Music to celebrate where it all began, but it was closed. Kids at that time were only 3 so I don’t think they even remember it (other than the pics and one incident at the Piano pool where DS was spoken to about climbing on something by a lifeguard, and never wanted to go back there, lol). But it was a really nice day and evening. I brought testing kits from home and we all tested negative prior to flying home. I wasn’t really too worried about it since we were outside most of the time. Flight home was early and only half full so we could spread out, which was nice. All week we’ve all been saying we wish we were still there. If anyone has any ?s I’m happy to try to answer. We thought it was pretty full there, from what we saw. And rooms are just about fully booked for late October, anyway. (I was looking for a friend - really!)

Forgot to say, we missed Toto so much! When they let him out of the kennel, he ran up to us and jumped higher than I think I’ve ever seen him jump! Gave him a bath right when we got home, and then put on his new Disney Dogs collar and added a new tag we made him after he dried off. He hasn’t left my side since then!

Good cooler morning from here! It's gray and a bit chilly.

Pea, I am so happy you had such a good trip! :)

Taz, hugs to you! Kids need the unconditional love and kind support of all caring family and people in their lives! YOU make such a difference to many, please don't forget that, my friend.

Fun QOTD, Pollyanna :)

. Dog or Cat? DOG, no cat, lol.

2. Netflix or YouTube? Neither really but dad likes Netflix. i am so grateful for You Tube each week to watch worship on.

3. Phone Call or Text? Phone Call! Though a text, I admit can be handy at times.

4. Toast or Eggs? Pancakes :D Scrambled eggs :)

5. Cardio or Weights? Neither

Have a good Friday all. I'll check back later.

I may just park at the airport to keep it simple. Of course I chose to use 2 different airlines for the trip. As long as American comes in at the Domestic side I am good. They have been known to land at the International side and then I will have a slight dilemma. The domestic and international landing areas are 6 terminals apart. That is a LONG walk.

Even as a parent I kept calm and quiet. I was a coach for many years so I know what parents can be like. I reacted badly one time and I put myself in time out, apologized to our team and called and apologized to the athletic director who was at the game. He understood why I was upset and did handle the other coach but I was still unprofessional. There were a couple of parents at my grandsons game the other day who would not stop making remarks about the coaches, and the coaches heard them, that the owner of the organization sent out a group e-mail to all the parents. My daughter shared it and it was a great response. I am a very laid back spectator. I once asked my oldest grandson if he could hear people shouting at him when he pitched and he said while he can at times he just tunes them out. His other grandmother he banned from his games for awhile because she became loud and obnoxious.

QOTD - Dog or Cat - I have 3 cats and a dog so that is both
Netflix or YouTube - YouTube because I haven't paid for Netflix. My daughter told me I should but I am cheap. I like to listen to music on YouTube though
Phone Call or Text - Depends on my mood. I am known to ignore both
Toast or eggs - Eggs, I am not a huge bread person
Cardio or weights - I try to walk when I can so I guess cardio. When you have really bad knees weights can be tough.

. Dog or Cat? dog....wife had them forever, so we found one in Oregon....kennel female....has problems being free

2. Netflix or YouTube?...old man...have lost interest, plus your winter is my summer and my summer is in oregon..busy🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

3. Phone Call or Text?...basic phone...very basic...phone calls...don't understand reason behind texts.

4. Toast or Eggs? Whole grain bread, on sale, light toast, butter and pasture free chicken eggs on top of the toast....on sale of course🐓🐓🐓

5. Cardio or Weights? neither...throat won't tolerate cardio....so I pull weeds for 3 hours every morning🌤🌤🌤🌤 4 yards to maintain..I leave the trash can at one side of the yard and then walk with bucket to dump

You are a lovely and wise person, Taz!

Chickapin Parterre, it took me forever to see any redeeming value to texts. Now, they simply can provide a quick answer. I absolutely prefer a real phone call, email, or PM, or, of course, a share on this lovely thread.

I started yesterday on a long overdue updating of birthdays! I'm now making one list of all family and friends and I'll be able to print out and use each year on calendars or as a reminder to wish someone dear to me a Happy Birthday! I do know a few of your birthdays for certain. There are some Quacker family members whose special day I'm not positive of. If you feel comfortable, please PM me your birthday. Always, and on anything you share with me, you have my word that it will remain between the two of us. Thank you, friends. Know, always, you all are dear to me and I thank you for your kind friendships!

I know the type. We were always quiet. For several years I was a team manager, but I kept my mouth shut unless I spoke to the coach individually. He would always explain things in such a way it helped me understand that there is a lot more at play than most people realize is going on. My son was always very quiet - and small when he was younger. But he had determination and stick-to-it-iveness, so he outlasted a lot of kids on his teams, with a lot leaving each year because they always thought the grass would be greener somewhere else. His long term coach taught them to play every position, so he became a utility player who could be put anywhere, which came in very useful in many situations over the years, and got him a lot of playing time, which was a win-win. When his coaches needed someone, he’d step up. (And he even played on opposing teams if they needed someone - he didn’t care, as long as he was playing.) A lot of kids didn’t like the outfield but that coach helped them to see how important a spot it is, ie a bad play out there can turn what should’ve been an out or a single, into worse. (Speaking of kids yelling while a pitcher is pitching - that always had the opposite effect on DS, too, than was intended. He became incredibly focused! I think a game in 7th grade against 8th and 9th graders solidified that for him one night, I still remember it very well. Silly kids!)

When he got to college play, it was a huge no-no for parents to be involved in almost any way, except for fundraising and team lunches! Even travel to FL it was made crystal clear that the team came first, and players were lucky if they got a little time off to be with their families. I’ll never forget one day DS’s whole college team got REAMED because a freshman parent had called the head coach about (lack of) playing time. DS asked me after the game, “Mom, you didn’t by any chance….?” Omg, I knew better than that! But apparently coach told this parent if you think I’m taking a senior All American out of conference play to put a freshman in, you’re out of your mind! And that family wound up leaving the team! If kids have any inkling of playing in college they (and their parents) really need to figure out in HS that recruiters can be at games and WILL watch the way players and parents interact with coaches, umpires, other players, and the like, and loud, interfering families could be something they just don’t want to deal with, even if the player is good. One day after DS had already been recruited, I was shocked to see his college coach standing behind home plate watching him hit. Thankfully he had a good at-bat and doubled, but turns out he was there to see someone else! And he’d probably been among the crowd for quite a while before we noticed him! (We‘d been quietly enjoying our lunch under a tent by ourselves and he later came over to chat, which was nice.)

I think I mentioned here recently seeing DS in the batter’s box warming up at a recent softball game brought back a flood of memories from when he was little - his swing has never changed and he has the exact same stance he has always had!
DS didn’t have a college graduation ceremony due to Covid so instead I made him a slideshow of his college baseball years, put to music, and it is so amazing to watch and see his transformation from skinny freshman to bulking senior! (They work them out hard!) I also made a large plaque from a photo of him pitching with an inspirational saying on it that he will someday hang in his own home. I’ve always felt that all his years in baseball taught him so much about leadership and teamwork, and will serve as a compass for him in his career. (It already has - he recently had a job interview and was asked a question that he answered by referring to something his coach had expected of him.)

Being involved in something is so good for kids, no matter what it is. 👍🏻 Parents just need to let the kids play and let the coaches coach. Pick good ones, and then just enjoy the ride.

Back from the hairdresser..and my head feels 10 lbs lighter!! No more Pebbles Flintstone hairdo at night, lol! She cut more than 8" of my hair off..it feels so light and airy now, just a little above chin length. She was very nice and I liked her. Summer (stepdaughter) paid for my haircut for an early birthday gift. She wanted me to have it professionally colored, but I don't want her spending that kind of money on me..rather have her spend it on the grandkids. I just got 2 boxes of John Frieda from Amazon this morning..so I will be coloring it tomorrow..and still have a spare box for next time. If I had colored it when long, it would have taken both boxes..its only 82 out, but very muggy!

@Pea-n-Me - my grandson is in 8th grade this year so moving to High School next fall. He is already being recruited by at least one school. His goal is to play in college and then from there who knows. I think the comments aimed at him the other day are because he is a very GOOD player, probably the best on the team at this point. I sometimes think parents, fathers especially, need to get put as far away from the fields as possible. They want to live vicariously through their kids and get jealous of children that are better players. The coaches are hard on Anthony because they believe he is one of the best players they have ever coached and that he has the opportunity to get far in the game. I told him he knows now that an injury can change the course of his life so play smart and get an education. Anything beyond that is great but like hitting the lottery. He is looking at Kentucky or Vanderbilt for college so I won't have as many opportunities to watch him play if that's where he heads off for college. He is a straight A student also, so smart.

He loves playing shortstop but was switched to 1st base this year and picked it up right away. He actually offered to play centerfield over the weekend tournament because the outfielders were just not catching the ball. He even went to the "B" game the other day because they needed some bodies. Anthony is like your son, he loves to play and will go wherever they ask. Breaking his ankle in the spring was the worst thing ever, he was so miserable not being able to play. I can't wait to see his brothers play football tomorrow. Not my favorite sport but I will be there.

I love your post, Pea, thank you for sharing such sweet baseball memories of your son. You're another awesome Quacker Mom that's for sure :)

Hooray for your haircut, Lynn, I'm so glad you were able to get it cut.

Continued prayer for Anthony, Taz and always you :)

PollyannaMom, we going out for fish tonight. I'd rather eat out than cook it myself. :teeth:
Came across "This or That" quiz while looking for something else, and though it might make a fun QOTD:

1. Dog or Cat? Dog

2. Netflix or YouTube? Netflix

3. Phone Call or Text? Phone call if the conversation is more than a sentence or two. Can't stand to have conversations through text.

4. Toast or Eggs? Toast, I don't mind toast without eggs but when I eat eggs I need toast with it.

5. Cardio or Weights? Cardio

Had dinner with friends last night. They are my women friends that are my age. I'm also in a group that is 10+ years older than me. Anyway, we ate pizza and had a good chat. Looking forward to our get together next month.

Went to Costco today to pick up a rotisserie chicken. They have such good ones and so much less expensive than other stores. I also got another Fall pillow and a big box of Tide pods.
