Good Sunday morning QUACKers

@Kirby :( for the family drama, and for the loss of your sister's ex FIL.

@sweetpeama-sorry your water situation doesn't sound like it's going to improve anytime soon.

Its still 70 degrees outside at 4 am, going to 87 today. Only a slight chance of showers :(

I go to bed tired, I wake up tired, I am just plain tired I guess.

Off to feed the furbabies and lay down for another hour or so.

Have a nice Sunday!

Well my day isnt' starting off well. Sister in law is late picking me up first of all. Second I had an issue with our TIVO yesterday morning,,restarted itself 4x in 30 min. I called and a tech reset the whole system, and all seemed fine last nite. I had the olympics on just now while waiting for sister in law..and noticed I couldn't hear the tv. I go in and there is a big screen that says TIVO has detected a serious problem and is attempting to fix it. This fix could take up to 3 hours. You can turn your tv off, but do not turn the tivo off or restart it. If the tivo doesn't restart itself after 3 hours, call customer support. Great. I won't be home until around 3, and then I bet I have to wait 90 min to talk to a tech,,and then have them tell me they have to send someone out, and who knows when that will be :( I have never had an issue with this TIVO before and we've had it for at least 3 years :(

My Sunday isn't starting off well either. We are taking Jasper to the Vet Referral Hospital in a half hour. He saw his regular vet on Thursday and got a clean bill of eye health. He went to the internist at the referral hospital Friday for a recheck and all the tests were good for him. The vet said we could do a recheck in 4-6 months. This morning I had to coax him out to eat his breakfast. He is usually waiting for it. He did eat some and then threw up. He threw up 2 more times. He is lethargic, legs gave out a couple of times and he collapsed, and he is shaking. He won't move out of his chair. We have an appointment with his internist. I am hoping it is just a virus. I did start a new bottle of his blood pressure meds yesterday so I am bringing that along just in case there was a medication error. If you could keep him in your prayers I would appreciate it. We were very happy yesterday with the good news from the vets. To have this happen today is devastating to us.

Good afternoon.

Went to church this morning. Now killing time until going to DD's for dinner. One of the packages with 4 of the dresses I ordered shows at being "out for delivery". I hope it gets here before we leave.

@Kirby, sorry for your loss and the problems with your sister.

@Snowysmom, prayers for Jasper. It is so hard when fur babies are sick.

We are back from the vet. When Jasper saw this vet on Friday Jasper was very stressed and anxious probably because he saw his regular vet the day before. 2 vets in 2 days were alot for him. The doctor thinks his stress and anxiety caused his digestive system to have issues. An ultrasound showed decreased motility in his intestines but no other issues. He gave Jasper some fluid under his skin, an antinausea med, and a med to increase motility. Jasper is resting at home in his chair now but he still does not look real good. He just got up and was still unsteady on his feet and not interested in eating or drinking. If he is still like this tomorrow we are taking him back. The vet said he will be there tomorrow. I just have a bad feeling about this. I know he is old but I really thought he was stable and even doing a bit better especially after the test results were so good on Friday. I guess I am not just not ready for this.

I second that..more extra prayers sent for Jasper and @Snowysmom

I am home,,and its 92 and HOT out there.

It was very quiet on the rehab unit today. Only 2 nurses, no lights on in the hallways..no OT, no PT, noone even got the patients dressed today. Hubby was glad for the day of rest..but I made him do his arm and hand exercises anyhow. He wasn't happy with me making him, but I don't want that arm all stiff tomorrow after not moving it all day.

To my amazement, when I got home and turned the tv on, the Tivo was working as it should I called atlantic broadband anyhow, expecting the usual hour to hour and a half hold waiting for a tech,,was amazed to get one answer the phone almost immediately. He said that message I got this morning usually means the box has or is going bad,,that he was surprised that it fixed itself. I asked if it should be checked and he said definitely, I think it needs replacing. So I have an appt set for Wed between 2:30 and 4:30. It just sucks because it means we will lose the season finales of shows I taped while he's been in the hospital..but if we do, we do.

I am going out to weedwack the gulley at the bottom of the steps going down the bank to the street. The weeds are so high I had to climb over them to get to the step. Morons took all the rocks out so that the water would go down the storm drains under our driveways out here,,problem is they dug it out too deep, and the water doesn't reach the storm drains anymore, so we have had standing water (and mosquitoes) in it all summer. We haven't had rain in 2 weeks,,yet there is about 4" of water in them. :(

The tech who comes may have a portable storage device that he backs the old unit up to then feeds back into the new unit. be sure to ask if that's a possibility.

Solve one problem, make another...isn't that the way? :sad2:

Good afternoon, my friends. I have not posted in a while but I continue to pray for all. It seems like many of us are in need of prayers now :grouphug:

I've continued to have some random dizzy spells - not full-on vertigo like I did a few weeks ago, but every once in a while everything just *tilts*. It's frustrating.

DH was stressing me out last week. Our 14-year-old cat was recently diagnosed as hyperthyroid - apparently very common in older cats - our other cat had it for 5 years before her kidneys failed and she passed. Since we know Dio won't take a pill, we've opted to get his thyroid radiated. He had his "pre-op" appointment last Monday, but they couldn't get urine from him, so we had to try to get it at home. We spent several days trying to get him to go on the little tiny bit of special litter they gave us, but he held it for a day and a half before he finally gave in. So DH was getting worked up, which in turn makes me nervous... :sad2:

Keeping Josh occupied as well. On Monday, the rain finally let up enough to have the library's Storytime in the Park. Tuesday was quiet until we went for gymnastics. Wednesday, we went to the $1.50 movie - they showed Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which we'd seen at the library a few years ago; actually a pretty good movie, reminiscent of The Goonies and a little National Treasure - and then in the evening, the recreation department's free show was The Magic of Christopher. (The people that do these shows are great! When the show is over, they come down from the stage and let the kids ask questions, take photos...Christopher made balloon animals; Josh had him make a cheetah, which was too nice to hide in his bedroom, so it's on our mantel now :) ). Thursday morning was the school-age storytime on the library's front lawn. Josh discovered that one of the little girls from his kindergarten class, Sophia, was there with her sisters. After storytime, they ran around for a while on the playground. Josh later told me that Sophia told him that he's cute  I am not prepared for this. Friday morning, we went back to the library for the Monster Circus Puppet Show outside. (Yes, Sophia was there again, and I caught her watching Josh numerous times...) This was a different type of puppet show, as it wasn't "dolls-on-strings" or Muppet-type puppets with your hand inside. It was this (I don't quite know how to explain it):

Magnificent Monster Circus
Come one, come all, to a circus like no other! Encounter magnificent creatures from the wilds of your imagination as their quirky human caretaker tries to teach them new tricks. Kids can lend a hand to Eustice the Unicycling Unimonster, make friends with a Fiery Fanged Worm, cheer for Agnes the many-legged Acropod, and more! This colorful, silly, multi-sensory show full of friendly monsters is a perfect match for young audiences.
Show length- 40 min. plus Q&A after the show.
Magnificent Monster Circus can be performed indoors or outdoors, and is available in person or virtually.

This was another one where the performer, John, invited the kids to come up afterward and ask questions, look at the puppets, take photos, etc. Then Josh and Sophia played on the playground for a bit.

The library is also doing a town-wide scavenger hunt like they did last year, and it started this week. This year's theme is "Tales and Tails." When you find the sign, you have to identify the animal tail that's on the back. I was/am pretty confident on where things are, so during the week, if we were going somewhere that passed by a possible location, my mom would stop so we could check it out. Today we spent the morning driving around all the other places and found all but 2 of them! One, I'm more than certain that it's the ice cream place up the road from our house, so we'll stop for ice cream one night this week and get our clue. The last one says outright that's in a community garden. Well, there are 6 in town; we looked in 5 and didn't find a sign. I was wrong about the location of the last possibility - and of course, while looking for a different one, we drove right past where it most likely is! If tomorrow's Storytime in the Park is still on, we'll be relatively close by, so we'll stop there when we leave.

We've made plans to visit a nearby splash park with friends on Tuesday. If it ends up as hot as predicted, I might have to put on my bathing suit as well and get in there, too! :scared1:

oh thats a great idea..I just wrote that down on my list of questions to ask them! Thanks!

Solve one problem, make another...isn't that the way? :sad2:

with me? Always lol!

Huge prayers and love to you Snowysmom and Jasper, too. I am so sorry, my friend.

Hugs also to anyone experiencing tech trouble! Truly sometimes devices are more trouble than they are worth!

Good to see you post, Apirateslifeforme. Prayers my friend for you and your cat! I am so glad Josh had a fun week! Lol he does indeed sounds like quite the ladies man at only going on 6. Hugs, Mom.

Green paper on the medium sized section because it is much bigger didn't go as smoothly as the first smallest section. Trying again tomorrow.

Love to all and Quacker good cheer, too :)

Hugs and prayers to @Kirby and @Snowysmom.

So... during the Olympics for the past few Olympics, I've always had a bit of fun, imagining myself "competing" in various events, with humorous results. I've made it a Facebook "tradition." So here's the 2020/2021 Olympics edition for your enjoyment. And yes, I know I used one men's gymnastics apparatus (and one they have in common), because I covered women's in years past.

My results on various events in the
Olympics

.....
Gymnastics, Floor Routine: Did an off balance somersault, but stood in triumph as if she had just landed a layout full with 2 1/2 twists. Score: 0.01

Gymnastics, Pommel Horse: Attempted to mount the pommel like an actual horse. Was not successful, even with the handles. Score: -4.32 (Achieved first ever negative score in gymnastics.)

Road Cycling: Tried to inform officials that she did not, in fact, know how to ride a bike without training wheels. The officials laughed it off as a good joke. Fell 5 times attempting to reach the starting line. They believe her now.

Swimming, 50 Meter Freestyle: Started with Heat one of the 50 meter freestyle. Finished with heat 6 of the 1500 meter freestyle. Time: Unknown.

Skateboarding: Sat on the skateboard in full gear, with pillows strapped around her. Used her legs to push herself down a ramp (while still seated) and yelled "Mommy!" multiple times. Score: 0.1, for entertainment value only.

10 meter platform diving: Made it to the diving board, approaching the edge with great caution. Shook her head, said, "NOPE!" and proceeded to curl up in a ball by the stairs. Could only be coaxed down with promises of large amounts of Dove Dark Chocolate and Lindt Dark Chocolate Truffles. The Swiss swimming and diving coalition made an emergency call to Lindt headquarters.

Surfing: Saw an upside down surfboard, and thought it was a shark fin. Ran away, and has not been seen for three days. However, rumors say she set a personal best in the 100 meter dash.

Anyone watching the Olympics besides Allison Joy and me? I'm looking forward to watching gymnastics tonight. I have the women's volleyball on right now, USA vs Argentina.

I'm guessing my sister is over being upset with me since she tagged me on Facebook. She was mad at me several years ago for a whole year, didn't speak a word to me during that time.

I finally finished decluttering my personal desk. It feels so nice to sit here without stacks of stuff on my desk and out of the cupboards.

Suddenlink, my cable, internet and landline company, sent me a new, updated modem a couple of weeks ago. They are supposedly updating my outdated equipment at no cost but you know how that will probably go. I finally got around to installing it. Had to call and get help, had to link four Rokus to the new modem and three computers. Took a while and glad that is done. Then tried to print something out on my printer and found that it needed to be linked also. DD had to get involved with that.

Went to Sunday School this morning and found the church all decorated for Vacation Bible School. Lou Lou's eyes were big as saucers. She is so excited about going.

Dinner tonight was grilled BBQ chicken, fried potatoes and onions and salad. I haven't made fried potatoes and onions in quite a while. It tasted pretty good!

@apirateslifefor me...I heard you have had a LOL of rain , quit hogging it, we haven't had any in weeks. My ex sister in law lives in Chicopee..and said they have had at least a foot or more of rain this month? That's a lot for this time of year

@Kirby--glad your Sister got over it quickly

I got a burst of energy after dinner, when the sun had started going down and there was a little bit of a breeze..so I finished weedwacking the yard, then mowed it,,then watered the garden and all the plants and flowers and cleaned and refilled the birdbaths. Now I am calling it quits, taking a quick shower, then watching a little gymnastics (tivo still working,,X'd fingers ),,and then bed..

I watch some of the olympics. I like gymnastics, rowing, fencing, and diving. Hubby loves the track and field as he did it in high school. He has had it on constantly in the hospital, said he was up till 5:30 this morning watching it. I told him to turn it off by 11 tonite, as he has OT and PT tomorrow..lol

Have a nice evening all..stay cool..only going down to 75 overnite ,,ac will be staying on!

Thank you so much Allison for the smile! Love your thoughts and thank you for sharing with us :)

Hug, Kirby, I agree with Lynn and am so glad Lou Loui is excited about VBS! I hope she has a wonderful experience. I don't miss the stressful parts of working at church camps but definitely miss the children who I so loved.

Lynn, you and your energy at any time amaze me! Please keep cool and REST.

Wishing all of you sweet dreams.

Four of the five dresses I ordered arrived today. Took them to DD's house to try on. Still waiting for one and no decision yet.

@Snowysmom, what a hard time with a pet. Been there.

Anyone watching the Olympics besides Allison Joy and me?
We are watching bits and pieces. Too many fluff stories instead of events. I like the swimming as there are several Marylanders competing. And I like to watch women's gymnastics. I saw some skateboarding but had no idea what I was watching. Can't watch beach volley ball as it irritates me with the uniforms.

@allisonjoy, glad to see you.

Just a short pop in to say hello.

apirateslife- the shows your library host look like so much fun. Glad you are having such a fun filled and memorable summer with Josh. Sorry to hear you are still having dizzy spells. Hopefully you can get them under control/figure out what’s going on soon.

allison joy- your commentary made me laugh, what a fun little thing to do.

Prayers for you and Jasper Snowysmom, it is tough when a family pet is struggling.

kirby- prayers that Bible school goes well for Lou Lou and all who attend and those who are leaders.

i have not watched any of the Olympics. I do like them, I just have not made the effort to watch. And, I get annoyed when results are posted everywhere before I even get a chance to watch.

Was less humid here today but still hot. I guess Wednesday is on track to be our hottest day of the year this far.
